As a working mom, I knew that we found the right place when the teachers are just so excited to see your kids that it brings tears to my eyes every time I drop them off. We were at 2 other places in Clifton Park before this, and had behavioral issues with both of our kids (4 and 3). After we moved from the first center for behavior issues with my son, I thought for sure that the second school would fix the problem- but the authenticity just wasn't there. The teachers weren't in it for the kids- at MTA you can genuinely see how each teacher is excited to see your child- AND knows all the kids names. We love that there is a balance between learning and playing. There is some structure which both of my kids thrive on, but at the same time they have enough freedom to be KIDS which is important to us. They know that they go to chapel each day, that Fridays are gym days- and the crafts! Oh my, the crafts! I grew up doing tons of crafts. Then when I continued to work after having my kids, there was always an empty piece of my heart because they weren't doing crafts on a regular basis. Now, the projects they bring home are fantastic and the sparkle in their eyes when they tell me stories about what they did during the day just makes me know that they are in the right place. More on the behavior too- Every day is not always a good day at home if something is out of our routine, there wasn't enough time to transition, the eggs weren't cooked to the perfect texture- you get the picture- but as soon as we get to school, my son knows what his teacher expects and she makes it all better. I can't think of another human that I'd rather him be with, because he just comes home so excited to tell me about his day. He actually likes her so much that he calls me by her name sometimes- I know some people might get offended, but it actually makes me happy because I know that he loves it there so much. My daughter also has a nut allergy, which presented many issues in the past but MTA has been great about it and it is now a non- issue for us. The school recently moved locations (summer of 2018), and we started at the new location with the new playground that was just installed. The people are generally friendly and flexible. Volunteer duties generally involve sorting and re-packaging donated goods for distribution to local charities. If you're looking for ways to contribute to the community, this is a good place to go. Approximately 75% of the food bank's labor hours are provided by volunteers so they're open and appreciative of volunteers.

The few minutes we did get a gander it was like going to a geeky garage sale or seeing the inside of Doc Brown's garage. Unable to assess it as a museum per se but as an oddity it's definitely worth looking into if you're at all interested in the heritage of industrial artifacts of the Electric City. It is not really a 'museum' as historic items are laid out for you to touch and examine (not good for small children). There are some tools around for self-learning like QR codes, books and print-outs, but since many items are not labelled I'd say to get the most out of this place bring your tablet or phone. There are lots of odd, but cool mysterious devices about. You could spend 10 minutes or 3 hours there depending on how in depth you want to research items. At times the volunteer staff was explaining items to visitors, or giving a short walk around to help people get started. There is a classroom area in the back which looks to be where people do classes and presentations. Finding it: the center is about a minute walk from downtown restaurants. They occupy a couple of old buildings but the public part is the facility on the far left. There are limited open hours so look it up before you go.

I've been donating platelets and plasma to the Red Cross for more than a year. I always go to the…read morecenter on Everett Road, which is generally a bit busy.There's a good size staff. They're all very capable and very nice. The donors are nice, too. Donating platelets -- and sometimes plasma too-- is a time consuming process. It takes 2-3 hours. Platelets are cell fragments needed to stop bleeding. Plasma is the liquid part of the blood. Together, they help people who are battling cancer. Having lost friends to cancer, I donate in order to help. My donations have been sent to hospitals across the country. I can track where they went through the Red Cross app. The Red Cross doesn't pay donors but they can offer $10 store coupons and fun merch. For instance, today was free beach towel day. They seem to be very popular. Regardless, I think most of the donors would give without coupons and freebies. Everyone has lost someone to cancer and it's touching to hear their stories about how they've been moved to donate.

I was stopped during the last donation without any excuse. People were staring and when my wife…read morecalled the red cross offices (we always donate together and she was accepted) and they told her that I had donated 6 times already this year. They don't accept donors to donate more than 6 times a year, but boy did i feel like a criminal, when I was told that could not donate. In addition, twice in the past the staff were not able to finish the donation due to inability to find a vain. Since then I warn the staff to get someone with experience and they comply. I don't think that the staff is very good, other than the supervisor. I guess that the capable ones work in better places. Also they lost my records from the past. I was a donor in the US Army but was stopped from donating due to mad cow disease, because I had served overseas for more than three years. S I started over. These idiots will not stop me from donating. It is bigger than them.
