When microdermabrasion started it felt really rough-it's been awhile since I had one and knew my skin may be sensitive. She did check in and I said lighter and it seemed slightly lighter but still felt like it was scratching my face. Than peel went on which felt intense, pretty normal with a double exfoliation but when she was removing peel she never really checked in on peel activity and than just put finishing product on. It still felt pretty stingy and I probably should've spoken up but just chalked it up to the nature of the service. When I got home I had to put a cold compress on for awhile and my skin looked like this... and than this morning. I'm writing this to be informative and to mention that I'm also an esthetician and know my skin should not be all scratched up post microderm. I gave 2 stars because the space is welcoming and I had a good experience chatting with the esthetician but this is really bumming me out. *Wanted to add that the owner was very attentive and already called me concerned about how to make the situation right. I went here a few years back to get a tattoo removed as she had advertised this being one of the services she performed. After speaking with her, listening to her explain the service (A hair removal laser, able to give the same results as a tattoo removal laser) she seemed knowledgeable and competent so I scheduled and was excited to have my tattoo removed. I had seen her 3-4 times before realizing yes, she was removing my tattoo, but from the laser it had caused a huge raised scar exactly the shape of my tattoo. I stopped seeing her and found someone else to remove the rest of the ink. (Eyad from Ink Revoke Tattoo is amazing in Boulder) after a few sessions with him my tattoo was gone. Using a real tattoo removal laser, and freezing air to numb the area first I was happy to have the ink gone. But my scar was still there. I know knew scarring was a possible side effect, so I lived with it. I went to Laser Loft (a godsend, Loveland and Denver locations) and wanted to see about getting my stupid ugly scar removed. I let them know about seeing Darcy and what had happened and they informed me that when you receive training as an esthetician, they tell you NOT to use hair removal lasers for tattoo removal because it has adverse reactions and damages the skin. When a hair removal laser goes over tattoos it blows up the ink (and your skin, hence the scar). It is 100% not intended for this purpose and when (if) she had the training she knew this. I don't know if I'm more upset that she was knowingly taking my money and doing this to me or the fact I now have to pay for even more services to undo what she's done. Long story short, don't get a tattoo and don't go to Darcy for services. Drive the extra mile and pay the extra dollar and get a service done right and professionally the first time.
