Safest place to camp. Has everything you need. We have done the "extreme camping" in the past. This place ruined it for me. I got the nature peace, beautiful sceneries, and the conveniences I love in one spot. Plus, there is this vibe that says "your safe, this is a community". Plus, they love dogs. One of the best KOAs we've ever stayed in! This one is right on the Neuse River. Lots of activities (including 2 catch and release ponds). The dog park is fantastic! There are actually 2 separate fenced in runs. How smart to put bark down! It rained Saturday night and Sunday am when we got here, but instead of the dog parks being muddy messes, the bark absorbed the water. Less mess in the camper - NICE! I will say that the standard sites are very close together. Perfectly fine for an overnight stay, but way too close for our 5th wheel (we were in site 18). Since we were staying Saturday through Wednesday, we asked Sunday morning if we could switch sites and the staff was very accommodating! We moved to 86 and were thrilled! This is a beautiful location and the staff is amazing! We plan to return to this fantastic town in the future and we will definitely stay here. read more

This is a large, closely knit camp. Spaces provide for generous interaction with other camp families. There are bikes to ride, kayaks to float, fish to catch and release, sunsets to watch, radio stations and country music to listen to, campfires to enjoy...all within 5 miles of the historic town of New Bern, NC. Once they take a deposit they don't budge. They don't do refunds or credits. If you give a deposit for a month's service ay for example about $300 at the time of this review you will not get that money back in any form. We live in the area so we asked to let us use that deposit for daily stays instead of the long stay we thought we were going to need, but they did not budge! We lost the money and we are never coming back here not even to pay the $20 they ask to dump at their station. read more

What a beautiful campground. Well kept, right on the Neuse river, 4miles from New Bern. Soo much history here . The campground if clean, has a really nice playground, bounce house, clean bathhouses, a pier with paddle boats and kayaks,. Peaceful and beautiful. What more could you ask? read more

Stayed at this KOA while visiting the New Bern NC area 10/24-10/29 and we have to say it's one of the best KOA's we have stayed in. Stayed in a one room cabin that back many, many moons ago when we started staying in the KOA cabins was just four walls, a roof and a floor with a full size bed and a set of bunk beds. Now today the cabins have A/C and heat, a ceiling fan, a small tv and a dorm size fridge. Our cabin was located across from the pond and it was nice to sit by the camp fire at night listening to the fountian. There were individual bath houses steps from the cabins that were clean, had A/C and heat, plenty of hot water for showers and a hair dryer. They were built to resemble old wood out houses and we loved that fresh wood smell when you stepped inside. The campground was clean and all staff we encountered was friendly. The campground is actually in Bridgeton NC but in 15 minutes you can be in downtown New Bern, the Croatan National Forest recreational area and in an hour (in the off season) Morehead City/Atlantic Beach area, Fort Macon State Park and the Pine Knoll Shoals Aquarium. The campground is also on the Neuse river and they have fishing dock. Fisherman beware! There are lots of things to get snagged on and we lost six rigs the first day. We went and bought floats and that cured our snagging problem. I also caught a few nice Red Drums. You also need an NC fishing license to fish in the Neuse river. For five nights it was a reasonable $325 with tax, much cheaper than any hotel in the area and whole lot more fun! We enjoyed our time here so much we are already planning a return visit! read more

We stayed here for two days in March and really enjoyed our stay. The staff was very helpful and easy to work with. Our site was located next to the pond and on the small side, but we had full hookups including cable TV. The WiFi was spotty, but it worked. It was raining the entire time we stayed, but the campground looked well maintained. There was an occasional train, but it was not disruptive. Would I recommend this park? Yes. Would we come back? This was my second stay here.. I stayed in the cabins close to the boat ramp. The staff were very polite! The winter special was buy one night and get one free.. so it was well worth it. The cabin was a mid-tier cabin with a kitchenette, shower/bath, and a queen bed with bunk beds in the back room. The kitchen had all of the utensils and linens were provided on request. A fire pit and propane grill with grilling tools were also provided. Well worth the extra money for the cabin. Plenty of activities to do at this location. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay and will be back! read more

Wow! We WILL be back! Wonderfully managed and kept up. Trash picked up every morning; flying bugs were minimal (do they spray? Because I'm a mosquito magnet, we stayed close to the water and i wasn't really bothered by bugs). Kayaking, putt putt, right there on the river, little store for things you forgot, staff that plays with the kids (highlight of my night: kids on the back of the KIA truck with water guns soaking willing campers). read more

The staff are friendly and the place is nice, but when you have to listen to a tractor at 8 pm putting dirt on a lot I have a problem with that. The same guy drove through the park yesterday dragging the lots. I understand from 8 to 5, but at 8 pm you have a tractor running that's a bit much. I went to the office and was told quite time was 10 pm, well that's for paying customers, not staff that can't get their job done. I will never come back to this KOA, they don't seem to understand in the evening I would like to sit outside and chill, not listen to a tractor. read more

After traveling the US for 9 months traveling from California to the east coast, we stayed here for 3 months while we bought a house in this area. The campground is very well maintained and very well managed. We had a great stay here and made many friends. The manager (Pat) went out of her way to accommodate our needs and the staff was friendly and helpful. I enjoyed riding my bike through Bridgeton and the pizza from the little pizza joint at the edge of town (Bridgetown Pizza) was really good. read more

I like KOAs especially for quick nights when traveling. This one is a KOA Resort though. The location Is good, right on rivers, and they have a lot for kids to do. The standard sites, however are very small. We were in Site 19 and basically on top of the neighbors unit on one side and up against a bathroom on the back. My rating would have been 3.5 if possible but I rounded up because the staff members were so great. They are doing a great job. Would go back but will certainly get a premium site, they looked roomier. read more

The cutest little campground!! We stayed in a cabin. It was clean, bathrooms were easy to get to, the pond was right outside. We enjoyed sitting on the porch with a fire in the evening listening to the frogs and crickets. This place is PERFECT for families. read more

We had our children and grandkids visit and rent cabins. They came to visit my ailing husband and myself. The staff at KOA went out of their way to accommodate us. The first night they arrived we orederd a buffet of food that we thought we could have at one of the cabins but the weather thought otherwise. We asked at the front desk if we could possibly have the meeting room there for our get together and they were very accommodating and we enjoyed the first night with a huge thunderstorm safe and sound and our grandkids performing their various skills on stage. We had a wonderful time at this campground. There is lots to do onsite and in New Bern. Our site had woods on 3 sides and was quite private. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. There are two bath houses that were maintained very well and are conveniently located. I'd recommend this campground for a weekend getaway. The only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is because there is always something better out there. read more

My family stays at this campground about 3 times a year. The staff is amazing and everything is always kept clean and neat. They just added a bouncy pillow! As long as the management stays the same, so will my patronage. read more

Wish we had reserved one of the huge patio spots as our pull through was closer to the neighbors than ideal. Pool was nice. River access and dock made for a great spot to experience the Neuse river. Showers behind office could used some updating. read more
