I came in as agency staff (CNA), ready to work and treat residents with the respect they deserve, but instead of being welcomed, I was targeted. One particular med aide went out of her way to provoke me throughout my shift, nitpicking and creating issues where there were none. She eventually ran to the DON with a completely false accusation about my attitude, even though I followed every instruction she gave and made sure residents were well cared for. Her behavior was unprofessional, unwarranted, and ultimately reflected more on her than on me. Before I left, I still toileted the residents who needed care because at the end of the day, they are the reason I show up. I also spoke with my agency and another CNA, and both confirmed I wasn't the first person this had happened to. What got to me wasn't the workload--it was being disrespected for doing my job right. That kind of energy says a lot about the toxic culture there, and unfortunately, it's the residents who suffer most, like being left in soiled clothing for hours and completely ignored. There are a few kind and hardworking staff members there, but the lack of teamwork, compassion, and accountability overshadows the good. Families deserve to know that a nice building means nothing without safe, respectful care behind it.

They do not respond to family members when they have a concern or question. Then when you bring your concern to collette, she doesn't respond either. Thankfully we have constant family member eyes on our mom or we wouldn't want her there. The medications and daily medical eyes on the resident is by med techs who actually do not have medical training. They often do not know hoe to pronounce the meds let alone what they are for. The NP there is communicative and friendly and smart. The nursing staff, such as they are are inept. I would be curious to see the inspection reports. The nurses are rude and unprofessional.

(I always felt like the truly helpful staff members were doing their best to make up for the staff members who were consistently less than helpful, notably the maintenance staff, the surly receptionist, and the operations director.) If you're in an apartment that's been renovated, you may enjoy living here. However if you're in an apartment that has NOT been renovated, go somewhere else. The prices are the same for the renovated apartments -- prices that predictably increase every year -- and the incompetent staff won't permanently fix anything that's broken in the non-renovated apartments, for example, a perpetually leaky faucet; a stained ceramic sink; a perpetually broken disposal; a refrigerator that produced no ice; and cheap vertical blinds that also often broke. These were all very basic things that greatly would have improved my parents' quality of life, but Elk Ridge refused to replace these items which, in the grand scheme of things, are relatively inexpensive. In the winter, they also inexplicably do not put down salt on the sidewalks -- it's Nebraska in winter...Putting down salt should be a daily SOP. While walking, I slipped and fell straight down on my shins and kneecaps -- several witnesses, thankfully, and thankfully I only sustained severe bruising that lasted ~three weeks. Elk Ridge is lucky I didn't break anything; I would have sued, no question. One of the residents told me she moved in, in circa 2019, and has watched the quality and level service decrease steadily, which is unfortunate. I got the sense she was strongly considering moving. Overall, I would not recommend. Live there at your own peril.

Off and on there were a couple aids that you could tell truly cared. Unfortunately, most of them were punching a time clock. I had certain requests for the safety of my mother, but they were often, not carried out resulting in her falling multiple times. I feel it is a direct result of the management. And the recent change has caused many of the good people to leave and seek employment elsewhere. I was specifically promised things that ended up being denied to my mother. And I was outright lied to about two incidents involving accidents with my mother. Now is not the time to choose Heritage for your loved one if they need specific attention. We were finally told they could not handle her and were only given 3 days to move her. We were told we could have 5 days, but ended up being charged. If anything is negotiated, get it in writing. Management will deny what you were told.

It's so hard watching your parents have to trade in their healthy, independent life for one of dependence on others. However, if you have to do that, Heritage Ridge is the place! The staff has been so kind and caring! They get to know him as a person and tell me how intelligent and funny he is! His favorite place to be is in the dining room! I remember one time I took him to a doctor appointment (by choice - their transportation policy is AWESOME) and asked him if he wanted to go to a restaurant afterward. He chose to go home to eat with his buddies instead! :) I was shocked! I sure did make the right choice for him! :) I have given permission to HR to give my phone number to anyone who would like to contact me about it! As much as he didn't want to go there two years ago, it's home now and he loves it! I spent a week in and out of St. Joseph Villa while my grandma was there in hospice. My family and…read moreI spent from morning till night here so I was able to see a lot while here. The staff was really nice, supportive, comforting and helpful. They treated my grandparents really well and made my family feel welcome. They would bring us carts of beverages and snacks and they let my mom and aunt stay overnight with my grandma. The staff really seemed like they genuinely cared about us and helped make my grandma as comfortable as possible. They have an ice cream parlor and they allowed my whole family to get ice cream. And we all played bingo in the dining area with my grandpa. There is a sheet they hand out daily listing all the different activities and meals for the day. They have movie nights, bingo, singers, nail salon days and other things to do. There's also a barber shop where my grandpa was able to get his haircut. Overall, I was really impressed with all the staff and the cleanliness of the facility. The only thing I'd say that I can see needs an improvement are the rooms. They could use a fresh coat of paint, new carpet, shower tiles, little things like that. And we had trouble with the power on my grandmas bed, with being able to move it up and down. But I think this facility has what matters most, great caregivers, and I appreciate everyone for showing us all care and compassion during such a hard time.

She was chopping fresh asparagus to grill for lunch. Jane said she has been at Hickory Villa for 18 years. As I walking around, I also spoke to residents, Jean and Darry. They both expressed how happy they were, how well taken care of they felt, and both had big smiles when I asked them if they were glad they made the decision to take an apartment at Hickory Villa. The facility is lovely, big central atrium with tons of natural light and a small live bird aviary. Her apartment layout is simple and smart, allowing for a living area and kitchenette as well as a common dining area we've often used for family meals. She has control of her own thermostat and we bring her dog over several times a week for visits. I still haven't figured out what everyone's job is, as there are sooo many employees.regardless, all staff are friendly, efficient and patient. My own patience with mother and her fellow residents has improved with their example.

The Recreational Therapy Director Larry was absolutely fabulous! He has so many different things for the residents to do, and every day there's something organized morning, noon, and night! You can tell everyone there truly cares about the people entrusted to their care. The residents are so happy and friendly - we met them all, and nobody had a bad word to say about their care or their living situation. The rooms are all private, comfortable, quiet and clean. It was our first experience with a Skilled Nursing Facility, and we were all completely impressed and eternally grateful that Mom was able to spend time there!
