was the gold standard for years, now its horrible. Almost no protein, too much rice and about zero vegetsbles. New owner also stopprd brown rice and now upcharges. My usual Chinese restaurant was closed and I was in the mod. I ordered from New China 88 and was very disappointed. The portions were small but that was the least. The Chicken Chow Mein should be called Onon and Cvelery Chow Mein! The chicken that was there were huge cut-up pieces. Either old or overcooked. Hard to chew. No noodles were included. The roast pork lo mein had leather-like pieces of pork. I had to separate from the lo mein throw out. Inedible!! The egg roll, instead of being crunchy, was soggy and tasteless. I asked for extra sauces and received two. To order was unacceptable. read more

Five stars is pretty high for take out but have to give New China 88 their due! We used to live in Point Pleasant and tried all the local Chinese food. Some dishes were good here and there but this place is overall great. When we moved out of Point we still travel back for our take out! We've even had out of towners rave about it. Food is freshly prepared, never gotten a wrong item, and the sauces are just right - not overly spiced. Had the General Tso's, Veggie LoMein, Boneless Spareribs. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. Chinese food can vary greatly in taste but this place is very pleasing! read more

Ordered takeout last night and it was outstanding! First time trying their food and none of us were disappointed ... we raved! Ordered Dim Sum, Boneless Spare Ribs, Egg Fu Young (sauce on side), Pepper Steak, Beef and Broccoli and Pork Fried Rice. Extremely fresh, flavored food and the sauce in each dish delicious ... unlike other chinese food where the sauce is so thick, overly seasoned and salty, theirs is notches above! I ordered Hunan pork, but they just gave me some mixed vegetables with fried pork. I was attracted to the name of Hunan pork because it's not common to see it here. But they didn't make Hunan pork for me. Since I know exactly how a authentic Hunan pork looks like and this is not even close. This is false advertising. I won't recommend anyone who want to try real Hunan pork to order this dish. But still, I guess it's an okay American Chinese restaurant. I understand that the ingredients are hard to find here. No I don't have much experience from this restaurant except for the beef lo mein which is just noodles and some beef no veggies very thick noodles in the smallest large container I've ever seen from a Chinese restaurant. I wouldn't order again. read more

There is now new ownership and it makes all the difference. I used to go to silver lake bc this place was falling off. But now I decided I get it again and I love it. The restaurant is so clean. My shoes no longer stick to the floor. Also the ower is much nicer. And he doesnt try to rip you off or take advantage of you. Overall so much better. read more

The saddest part about writing this review is that the food isn't bad . I give it a 1 star rating with a cautionary tale . If you order by phone from this establishment , do not , I repeat do NOT , pay using credit or debit card. A couple days ago I ordered by phone food to my job and provided my visa information to pay for the order. when the food was delivered to the business I ordered for , the menu stapled to the bag had written on it all of my Visa card information including the expiration date and the 3 digit cvv. This is an outrageously irresponsible error on judgement on behalf of the restaurant and they should read up on NJ and federal laws regarding the confidentiality of customers private and financial information . Any number of people could have seen my credit card information , and if it had to be written down it should have been immediately destroyed and discarded . Today I called to speak to the manager about the incident , honestly just to address the situation so they can train the staff not to do this again. The girl on the phone told me management wasn't available and didn't know when they would be , and hung up on me .
