Not lots to choose from with Chinese food around here. We really aren't buffet people, but it was roughly the same price for a buffet as take out so we opted for the buffet so we could get more selections. Typical Chinese restaurant set up lots of seating, but also a lot of rips in the seats and unlevel tables. The servers were on top of things takings away plates and refilling drinks. As for the food; it was probably the worst Chinese food I ever had. All the chicken was tough and rubbery. The sauces weren't very good. The dessert and sushi were okay. It seems like a lot of people come here for the frog legs "if that's your thing." They did have quite a few items but most were below average on quality. If this is the only Chinese food you ever had you might think it's good. But nothing at all tasted fresh... If you're looking for the ability to eat a lot of food and don't really care that it's not awesome food, then you'll like it here. One positive--they have a soft serve ice cream machine. Sadly, they hadn't kept up with refilling it so it wasn't producing ice cream at the time. We dined there on 8/5/2024 at 6 pm. The General Tao's chicken was dry and stuck together. More sauce would have made it edible. Every thing else was tasteless except the fried chicken which was hot and juicy, it was the best thing there. As weary travelers on Christmas day, we were happy to find a place that was actually open for dinner. We were able to order online and pick it up so we could avoid the crowded restaurant. The food was ready quickly, and we received wonderful service. We chose to eat it in the comfort of our hotel room. What we didn't expect was the GENEROUS portions of good quality for the price. There was fresh steamed broccoli in each box of entrees, and nothing was overcooked or evidently sitting in a warmer for an extended amount of time. As a more up-to-date review. The food is good at certain times(e.g.. around noon for lunch) I liked the amount of options that were available. Their sushi seems to be fresher, maybe because it is covered by plastic wrap. I love the desert they have an ice cream machine(that serves actual ice cream not just frozen milk like most other Chinese buffets) and hot blackberry cobbler to go with it. This place has been in Russellville for a millennia. Or at least it seems that long. When it was new, it was THE place to eat. It was always crowded and the buffet was constantly refilled so everything was always fresh. Now, it's not so fresh. The building is showing it's age, the decor is as old as the building. The food is probably as old as the building. The place was starting to decline when Mulan's came in, and how it has held on as long as it has, I will never know. The sesame chicken used to be amazing and now it's like they don't even try. Sushi? Nothing more than California Rolls really. Even the fortune cookies taste stale. New China, is still great in my memory. But as far as restaurants in Russellville, or Chinese in general, it ranks as one of the worst. read more

This place is exactly like thousands of other "Chinese" restaurants (read: highly Americanized, vaguely Asian food, with numerous completely American dishes). That said, it is very poorly maintained and much less fresh than most nearly identical restaurants of this ilk. There are all the same things which one would expect at a buffet such as this: a giant slab of salmon wallowing in a weird juice, egg rolls, mystery meat slices called "broccoli beef", etc. - all the usual stuff. The highlights were the incredibly delicious hot-sour soup - which had plenty of tofu and black fungus strips and a delightful citrus taste - and the "BBQ" chicken wings, which were somehow treated like Peking Duck, with a nice glaze and were juicy and delicious. If you happen to be super-hungry while passing through Russellville, Arkansas, it is an easy-on, easy-off stop from the interstate. Otherwise, avoid. read more

This place is terrible. The food is very poor quality and tasted terrible. I wanted to check it out because it was new. When you walk in you pay right away. I was feeling really impressed by the huge selection they had (including frog legs) and got quite a few items. I sat down and a server came to see if I wanted a soda. I ordered and then began to eat. It was just awful. I got up and left before my soda was delivered. I should have asked for a refund but I had to get out. I just wanted to avoid talking to anyone. This place tends to be quite busy and many families go. I can only equate this to the fact that they have never had Chinese food anywhere else and haven't had a chance to eat any food of higher quality. It's a lot of food for what might be a decent price for some. Still, I just can't get over what poor quality food it is, yet people still return. New China is a small chain of buffets in the southern USA. This one is clean, bright and has nice folks working there. The food is fresh and hot. Look for Jesse the cashier. She's shy but very nice. Kids are welcome and groups can have a smaller room for themselves. read more

We have been here 4-5 times only because my in-laws think its great (they only eat noodles and frog legs). I always have a hard time finding something good. The veggies are always mush, the chicken is always dry, the fish is WTF. French fries are good, that's it. Its just not very good at all. For the price I would except much better. I'm new in the area so I'm going around trying out restaurants. I was craving Chinese food to I thought I'd get some takeout at the New China. I ordered Gen Tso's Chicken with stir fried rice and some fried Wontons. There was a lot of food in the container when I opened it at home but 3/4 of it wound up in the trash. Everything was old and chewy. I suspect it's been on the Buffett staying hot for days. I tried to eat it because it actually had good flavor but it was so hard to chew that my jaw got tired. New China has been part of the River Valley restaurant scene for a long time now. In fact, the name doesn't do much to describe this place.. as it's one of the oldest Chinese restaurants in the area. As for the food, New China offers the typical American Chinese fare. It's mostly the basics, nothing too exciting. For those more accustomed to authentic Chinese cuisine, this place will fail to satisfy your palette every time. The food is about as average as Chinese buffets come. Service isn't an issue here, but it isn't outstanding either. The restaurant is pretty clean and the dining areas aren't overdecorated. There are more than enough seats, despite the restaurant's size. Their buffet is small and leaves much to be desired. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place personally.. if you are going to eat Chinese in Russellville, Madam Wu's or Mulan's will offer a much more pleasing experience. read more

Don't eat here! Not even if you are trying to save money. Our friend took all 5 of us to lunch and one of my friends graded pizza of the buffet shes not a big Chinese food person. She took a bite of the slice and flipped it over and it had mold on the bottom of it and the bottom of the other slice on her plate. We told someone about it and he said its just burnt and we told him it burnt green with white fuzz circles and he had nothing to say and walked off. Clearly it was saved and put out again! We went to the front to tell someone who might care but no one cared in the slightest. Wile waiting in line another woman said there was a bug in her food and was ver angry at there lack of any response to it. That experience was enough for all 5 of us to leave and never ever go back! There's nothing special about this place. It's a cheap Chinese food buffet. The food is normally good enough and they are always quick on the drink refills. Don't come here if you want amazing food that cooked special for you. If you want amazing Chinese food go somewhere else. If you want decent food for a cheap price then it's a good place to go. I was pretty excited to go here because my sister and mom said it's better than Mulan's and that they have more variety. Well, I usually order off menu instead of eating at the buffet because I'm concerned about freshness and the I watched children/mannerless adults who are wont use their hands, but this time, I decided to chance the buffet and man was I strongly reminded why I never do that. Anything fried was stale and cold, and they don't bother to clean the shrimp so if you want to eat it, you get to either pick out the digestive track yourself, eat some shrimp feces, or leave it on your plate. The cheesy crab was okay, basically just what was in the name, cheese and crab. I was excited they had tempura chicken, but it was tough, and cold and stale just like the rest of the fried food laid out.
