We were reffered here by my daughters doctor and they are an amazing God send. It's the first time…read morethat we have found a solution for my daughters depression that she's battled with for almost 26 years. The staff was extremely professional and cared for my daughter and treated us like family. They explained the types of treatment they offer and after a blood test her psychiatrist ran they determined the best treatment for her. Their goal is to get people off anti depressants and use the latest scientific advancements to treat parts of the brain that cause depression and other mental health issue. Like any treatment plan, you do need to be committed to the process and also communicate with their doctors on your progress. Granted, like most medical treatment these days you need to get your insurance to cover it. You can pay for it out of pocket which can get expensive, but my daughter's insurance covered every penny. After years of watching her suffer with depression, it was a blessing to see a team who listened to our daughter and helped give her a chance at a happy healthy life.

I attended couple therapy sessions with Lynn Cook expecting compassion and professionalism, but my…read moreexperience was the opposite. In one session, he abruptly ended by saying, "I probably shouldn't say this, but you should probably be single." That comment was not only unprofessional but emotionally harmful -- especially as it came at the very end of the session, leaving no chance for discussion or support. When I calmly explained in the next session how that statement had left me feeling emotionally harmed, he became defensive and said he didn't understand how it was offensive. I realized then that my emotional safety was not a priority in his care. As someone who has studied Pastoral Care and Counseling at the graduate level, I understand the ethical foundations of therapy. The core value of any therapist is to do no harm -- to create a space of empathy and neutrality. Lynn Cook failed to uphold those principles. He also said he didn't care about medical diagnoses and suggested I find another therapist who "mainly works with attachment style." That disregard felt careless and inconsistent with his claimed attachment-based approach. He described his style as "blunt and direct," implying that some clients simply don't like it. However, being direct only helps when it comes from genuine care, wisdom, and nonjudgment. When a therapist's intention is truly for the client's healing, directness can foster reflection and growth -- but when it lacks empathy, it causes harm. Instead of building rapport or modeling healthy connection, he showed defensiveness and pride. He even mentioned that it's rare for his therapy not to work out with other clients, implying that the problem was with me rather than reflecting on his own approach. However, another review about him says that they had similar experiences. I left those sessions feeling hurt and retraumatized, later learning that others had similar experiences. Therapy should heal, not harm. I hope sharing this helps others find the safe, compassionate care they deserve.

I came to this therapist hoping for a safe, non-judgmental space to work through what I was…read moreexperiencing. Instead, I encountered the opposite. During my session, every way I turned or expressed myself was met with a roadblock. The therapist repeatedly dismissed my thoughts and hopes by telling me that how I wished things would work out "was not reality." These weren't therapeutic observations--they were his opinions presented as absolute truth, shutting down exploration rather than encouraging it. I was composed and thoughtful while discussing difficult emotions. However, the therapist made an immediate assumption about my emotional state, telling me I "appeared angry." When I confirmed that yes, I was angry--because I was processing hurt and frustration--his response was sharp and authoritative: "You will not speak to me in that manner." I was not speaking harshly, raising my voice, or being disrespectful. I was simply honest about my feelings. His interpretation of my composed expression of anger as something unacceptable shut down the conversation rather than exploring what I was experiencing. What concerns me most: A therapist's role is to create safety and understanding, not to judge a client's emotional expression, dismiss their perspective as "not reality," or impose rigid rules about how feelings "should" be presented. His response felt punitive and controlling rather than therapeutic. He made assumptions instead of asking questions. He repeatedly blocked avenues of thought and set boundaries that communicated my authentic emotions and hopes were unwelcome. If you are considering seeing this therapist, I'd encourage you to ask directly about his approach to anger, emotional expression, and how he handles clients who are processing difficult feelings or exploring possibilities. Make sure you feel genuinely safe--not managed, controlled, or dismissed.
