With the recent storms and hurricanes, being without power has always been a concern for us. We have a portable gas generator, but having to run power cables from outside through the windows and throughout the house to get power all the way over to appliances has always been a pain. We decided it was finally time to look at getting a generator inlet hooked up to our electric panel. We also wanted to be able to run some circuits directly off a battery backup system for short term outages. A neighbor recommended New Dawn Electric so we gave them a call. As our goal was a bit more complicated than a standard setup, they scheduled someone to come out and review everything with us first and provide a quote. We discussed what we were looking to do, what equipment we had to do it, where we wanted things located, went over a couple different options, and came up with a plan. We were quoted a reasonable price, and we got the work scheduled very quickly. Everything was just completed today, and we couldn't be happier. We had an outside gas generator inlet and an inside battery backup inlet installed, the necessary interlock, a safety transfer switch, custom cables, and all the connection work done perfectly and it is setup exactly how we wanted. Actually, even better than we originally were planning because Tim came up with an improved and safer way to switch between the two inlets. The entire panel, outside of the 240v circuits, which our generator doesn't support, can be powered with either backup system. We tested it out and I was able to run every standard circuit off the battery system if necessary. Across the board, the entire experience was great and Tim did an outstanding job. I'm almost looking forward to the next power outage so I can use it. I would definitely recommend New Dawn Electric to anyone looking for electrical work to be done. They were awesome. I need my floodlight installed at the front of the house which did not have an outside outlet. Most places were pretty booked and they were quoting me high. They put me to the earliest schedule and it worked perfect for me. My appointment was 8-10am and gentleman (who I later found out was the owner) came at 8am sharp, which I was impressed. He found the outlet line from the attic and installed the equipment in little over an hour. Price was freaking great (it was 1/3 of what my regular guy quoted me). Bait and Switchers. DO NOT RELY ON AN ON AN QUOTE FOR JOB THEY HAVEN"T SEEN! IN PERSON. I gave three electricians very explicit information to bid a job. Offered New Dawn opportunity to come make in person quote but they said they didn't need to. Two of three were very close but I picked New Dawn based on these reviews. I paid a $500 deposit and waited several weeks for the service and paid for someone ($200) to be at my house to meet them this morning. Technicians showed up and said they didn't have what was required to do project and "project was out of scope of quote because it required conduit". They were told up front verbally and in text exchanges conduit was required. In fact the text said "Conduit Obviously!". Spoke to Kelly who was one of the owners who confirmed she researched and saw the text exchange and notes but said the person who gave the quote had made an incorrect assumption and that they would not honor the quote and they would have to give me a new quote. When I challenged that (nicely) she hung up on me. Typical Florida scammers. read more

Did an awesome job of setting up FPL and doing the work of replacing our riser pipe to our FPL box that had rusted out with a new PVC. Highly recommend I contacted 8 other electricians. One quote didn't put the part on the quote and put a part on the roof. One wanted to charge for the FPL box that worked just fine just to get more money. If you want to get ripped off, this is the company for you. I hired them to diagnose and solve a problem with a GFCI outlet that keeps shutting off. They replaced the outlet (charging almost $60 just for the outlet itself, which can be bought at Home Depot for $10). The problem persisted. It took almost a month to come back. They said they're short of employees. I can see why nobody would want to work for this company. For another $150 they came back to the house to tell us their outlet was fine and told us to unplug everything that's on the same circuit. The GFCI still shuts off all the time. After paying over $500 for them to change an outlet we still have the same problem they were supposedly going to fix. They should look for work in the circus, because they're a bunch of clowns. read more
