Overall this shop would be a perfect stop for lighter fare, fresh baked bread, and they also carry a fair diverse selection of wine for a small shop. Certainly worth the stop in the area. It's located right in the center of a well traveled shopping area next to Waterloo. The outdoor seating made for a great place to enjoy it all despite it being just a touch drizzly.

We found a cute little bakery area and a butchers area, in which we proceeded to order a couple baked goods to satiate our hunger. There was some ground meat with a crust on the outside that was absolutely fantastic. The mince pies were okay, but I might just not be used to the taste of mince pie (I'm still not sure what it should taste like..). Then we noticed stairs! There was a plethora of other things to see. Fresh produce, coffee shop, extensive wine collection, groceries, and a restaurant! I loved the little restaurant hidden in the store. It was obviously the place to have a quiet lunch with friends. The atmosphere was relaxed. If I didn't live an ocean and some thousands of miles away, I would love to spend my afternoons here sipping on coffee and enjoying a meal with friends. Amongst four of us, we shared a turkey and cranberry sandwich, mushroom risotto, salad, and squash appetizer. The food was light, healthy, and filling. I could tell a great amount of care went into picking fresh ingredients. Greensmiths has a very young and happy vibe to it. I loved coming in here and I loved browsing around. They did not have any pies that were ready to eat, but I did try a sausage roll and the pastry was absolutely flakily and mouth meltingly amazing. Personally I'd like a bit more spice in my sausage, but I am in London after all and it was a good sausage. They had a variety of pies to take home to be baked, but I didn't want to carry them all over the gardens and unfortunately this shop closes at 6 (gardens close at 6:30) so I couldn't pick them up on my way back either. Maybe on a future trip when rains send me scurrying out of the gardens early??? Very friendly staff and service. UPDATE : On my last visit to Kew, I was accompanied by a friend and her 10 year old, who obviously got tired much before the park closes its gates, so I was able to stop here and buy some pies to take home. The Steak & kidney pie was awesome as were the sausage rolls. (They sell them frozen, you just need to pop them in the oven) I even picked up some fresh Cumberland sausages - Italian (sundried tomatoes, basil), a spicy version and a herby garlicky one. I also think Butchers play an important role and its so much better to see the meat your eating like this than as the plastic, packaged, processed stuff in supermarkets. Pethers is such a wonderful butchers selling not just free range meat and poultry but also a selection of fine cheeses, pickles and hot sauce. The meat all looks such good quality and the smell is even appealing! (I've walked passed so many butchers in the city with stinking ill looking carcasses that it is so refreshing to find a quality place). More over, this year Pethers joined a green movement with other shops in Kew to become more ethically sound and has stopped using, or giving out plastic bags. So for the conscientious and fine meat loving carnivore this is a great place to go.

I opted for two and started with the pork rillettes served with a homemade bread. I think it may have been soda bread, but I can't quite recall. To follow, I had the coq au vin with creamy creamy I have a cloud taken from the heavens and placed on the plate before me, mash. The chicken though a quarter piece, fell off the bone and melted in my mouth (I appreciate the term is so overused, but that's what it did). Every simmered minute evident with each forkful. I could gush on about the service being fast and friendly and or how wonderful it was that the chef himself delivering each dish, but that can get a bit droll. It's only a little conershop so there's not much room but they do a Saturday 3 course lunch for a £10 that I'll be going to very soon. The produce range is a bit limited at the mo but that I think will be expanding as they get on their feet and into the growing season. The guy was saying that want to expand to take in fresh produce form local allotments and gardens. All in all it's well worth a look. It's in Brixton Village which is one of the covered markets of Brixton. They're doing lots of events and things at the moment there. The main entrance is just of coldharbour lane, under the railway bridge and Cornercopia is on the middle cross section. If you want a real London experience then Brixton Village and the other markets of Brixton are really interesting and very often overlooked.

It is a joy to live near by, open 365 days of the year, 8am to 10pm without fail. Organic vegetables, tomatoes bursting with colour and flavour. They have a large delicatessen where they have a large selection of olives, Halal meats and cheeses , and make their own Turkish bread on site too. It all has a lovely smell of when you walk in. They have absolutely everything that a Turksih Chef would need. My family shop here virtually everyday to get bread and other certain thing they might need for whatever is being cooked. For quantity, it is by no means competition for any large supermarket chains, but as for quality, it definitely is. It is a regular for me.

Made it acceptable so we don't have to think about the fact that this tasty lamb chop was once baaaing, bleeting and bouncing around a field. Everything is spotlessly clean and the butchers are clean cut with shiny shoes. The meat is hanging behind a glass sliding doors and at the front window the meat is laid out like an artistic mosaic of cuts. You can tells it's still a butchers though, the doggies of Stokie can confirm. As they walk past, their leads pull and noses dampen with excitement. They have a small selection of cheese and drinks and at the back they have a great wine room. It's all set up for tastings so it'll be great to see what they decide to do events wise over the next few months. There is a large outside space so if they use that, this will be a bit of a foodie mecca. I love the fact that the wine is split up so you can pair it easily with your meats. Pork, lamb, beef or chicken - how cool is that!?
