With each meeting, we made meaningful progress. Michelle helped us see clearly where our spending was going and guided us in creating a realistic, sustainable budget that still allows us to enjoy our lives while saving toward our biggest goal--purchasing our dream home. What once felt far off now feels achievable much sooner than we expected. Perhaps the most valuable part of the experience was the confidence and clarity Michelle helped us build as a couple. Our conversations around finances are now more productive, aligned, and positive than ever before. We're only a week out from our final session, and already feel the impact of the work we did together. I'm excited to look back in 3 months, 6 months, and a year from now and see how far we've come thanks to Michelle's guidance. I can't recommend her highly enough.

Living paycheck to paycheck--despite having solid incomes and no kids--was frustrating and stressful. We initially expected to walk away with a simple budget. What we got was so much more. Michelle didn't just organize our numbers--she gave us clarity, confidence, and peace of mind. She removed the fear we had around money and replaced it with a real plan and direction. More importantly, she set us up for long-term success and a stronger financial future. We truly can't recommend her enough.

Back in 1998, when I was trying to purchase a house, I needed help repairing and improving my credit. That's when I met an incredible team at Second Chance Financial -- John, Karen, and Wayne. From the very beginning, they treated me with kindness, honesty, professionalism, and genuine care. Thanks to their help and guidance, I was able to buy my home back in 1998. Now, 28 years later, I find myself reaching out to them again for assistance, and to my surprise and gratitude, Karen and Wayne are still there. That alone says so much about the dignity, integrity, and stability of this company. It shows not only how they value their clients, but also how they treat and respect their employees. What always made them different is that they never treated me like "just another client." Over the years, they would occasionally call simply to check on me and see how I was doing. That level of humanity and compassion is very rare today. If anyone needs honest and trustworthy help with their credit, I truly recommend Second Chance Financial. These are good people who genuinely care about helping others rebuild and move forward in life. Thank you, Karen. Thank you, Wayne. And may God bless the memory of John, who is no longer with us. Your kindness and help will never be forgotten.

Thank you, Karen, Wayne, and the entire Second Chance team. You're making a positive impact in more ways than you can imagine.

Gone are the days of feeling hold hard cash in your hands, but mostly you simply wait for your money to magically be taken electronically. On the rare occasion I do need cold hard cash, I usually grab a quick $20 out of one of the 2 walk-up ATMs or go thru the drive-thru ATM. What's cool is that some Wells Fargo have ATMS where you can request your money in small denominations like ones or fives if you need it, but frustratingly, this branch doesn't have ATMs like that. So if I do need small bills, I have to make the trek inside the branch. The staff is always friendly here, but every time I've gone here in the past year - no matter what time - there's a line almost practically to the door. There never seems to be more than two or three tellers - and of course one of the tellers always seems to be occupied with a customer who has an exceptionally challenging case, so it's more like you're down to one teller. I saw one lady, waiting in line, throw her hands up, loudly say, "this is a joke" and walk out. All I can say is if you need to walk into the branch, be prepared for waiting in line awhile to be seen. Bring your phone and maybe play some candy crush while waiting in line. Or maybe you want to leisurely drink your coffee. And try your hardest to be patient.

Unfortunately, this most recent attempt to obtain a personal loan was one of the most difficult and frustrating experiences I've had with a financial institution. There appeared to be a significant lack of understanding regarding VCCU bylaws--specifically around co-signer eligibility. We were repeatedly told that a co-signer must be a personal family member and reside within the county in order to apply. This information was later proven to be incorrect. After escalating the matter ourselves by calling the 24-hour VCCU support line, we were clearly informed that there is no such requirement. The representatives we spoke with stated they had never heard of a VCCU loan requiring a co-signer to be a personal family member or to live in the county. Based on their guidance, we were able to successfully proceed with and obtain our loan--without any issue--using a co-signer who did not meet those alleged restrictions. It was embarrassing and frustrating to have to go above branch management to obtain accurate information and resolve something that should have been straightforward. I strongly recommend that upper management ensure staff at this location--particularly beyond branch manager Jessica--receive proper training and become fully informed on VCCU loan policies and bylaws. This situation warrants an internal review of how loan applications are being handled, as it raises concerns about how many other members may have been incorrectly turned away for the same reasons. At this time, I would not recommend using the River Park location for loan services. Members may be better served completing their applications online or by contacting VCCU directly through official support channels, where accurate information was readily available.

Feeling financially stuck? Overwhelmed with credit card debt? High interest rate loans…read moresuffocating any progress? Insomnia? 6 months ago I was staying up all night worried about my family's financial future. I felt like I was going to have a heart attack or stroke from the stress. So, how did we get to this point? Business was affected by Covid. My wife was laid off so our income was slashed in half. Started racking up credit card debt. Paying the minimum. Then, there was the financial burden of taking care of elderly parents. I tried debt consolidation but it would take multiple years to pay down the overwhelming mountain of debt compounding like a pounding headache of misery. I felt trapped in a circle of debt, barely getting by month to month with cost of living going up. Then I met with Michael to pick his brain and discuss my options. Our best strategy was to file for chapter 7 bankruptcy. To get a fresh start. This was the best choice for us. Highly recommend talking to Michael and Tamara to just review your options. Worst case at least you will have some clarity of what solutions are out there. Michael held our hands and walked us through everything. Tamara does most of the heavy lifting. She is amazing. Much respect to Tamara's patience and diligence. She told us exactly what was necessary to file so the process was easy and smooth. I spent many hours to get all my docs in order per her request. So, dont be lazy and get your stuff in order. John is the confident lawyer. Straight shooter. Decades of experience with the trustees. Highly recommend a lawyer to file instead of trying to do it yourself. 4 months later. Discharged over $200K of debt. Now I can sleep at night like a baby. Thank you so much to FCC. I feel like I got a second chance. God bless America for having a system that allows qualified debtors to get a "fresh start". Much gratitude.
