After being told it was 'far away from the city centre' I was surprised to find us there in no more than 10 minutes from Liverpool One - have people forgotten how to walk? We were there to check out the 'No Homers Club' exhibition, to which my attention was drawn via Twitter. Now, anything Simpsons related is bound to get me excited, and the name alone was enough to have me arranging a day out to the 'Pool. Heading into the city anyway for a hen do, it was great to find something else to extend my visit (and have an excuse to take the other half with me for some lunch company!) The exhibition space itself is somewhat hidden, so keep your eyes open for any signage. It hosts a number of events throughout the year, including live music and djs, so there is a fully stocked bar at the front. Lots of people were going for coffee, served in takeout cups, or beer. The interior is large and white, making it perfect for people who want to make their mark, with two sets of toilets available. Regarding the 'No Homers Club' - well, I wanted everything! An eclectic, pop culture experience that would have any Simpsons fan grinning. From the 'draw Milhouse from memory in a minute' activity for an upcoming zine to screen printing, it was a brilliantly curated collection and a great way to spend some time. I'll be keeping my eye on this venue to check out some more events in the future!

Like all Liverpudlian nights out, this one had a good atmosphere. The creative scene here is stronger than anywhere else I've been mainly because it's the norm. Constellations and similar Baltic region converted warehouses have created a new dimension to the well established basement bar scene on central Liverpool. Within this relatively new venue ceilings are high and decorated with falling diamonds and golden leaves. The smoke from the machine rises. The bars are new and clean, but they haven't lost any sense of authenticity. This place means something, and it means something new. Full of musicians with serious credentials and even better personalities. You can meet at least ten new people without even trying - oh and as to be expected they've got to be some of the most stylish people I've seen in a while. I fitted right in :) I haven't eaten there yet but the photographs alone are making me hungry for more. A far cry from the post war Beatles diet, this new landmark is representing how it feels to be alive now in a scene that's ripe for success for those with talent. As always, much more than just a night out. Inspiring times!

Lovely selection of flowers and low prices, and arrangements in store which were stunning. The business was recommended to me as a wedding florist by several of my friends, and they didn't disappoint, Pauline & Andrea were amazing throughout!! I booked a wedding consultation initially with Pauline for my wedding flowers and to share some ideas, she made me feel so relaxed and definately took the stress out of the process, offering fantastic and well informed expert advice. I never once felt pressured, sadly the same could not be said for some of the other florists with whom I had consulted with. After finally agreeing on my flowers and various things, I was kept in touch with throughout the process which certainly helped ease the nerves and worry. The 'big day' arrived and my flowers were presented to me at the hotel and as promised, the venue was fully dressed - I never once had any concerns, and the flowers just were simply stunning so much so it brought me to tears; the fact I had so many comments about them during the day confirmed that I had made the right decision in going to Bromborough Flowers. The biggest surprise (or maybe it wasnt given what I had been told by friends who have been here before), was simply the price... I had to ask Pauline to recheck a couple of times as it was massively cheaper than the other florists who quoted me in the area. Highly recommended in the highest possible way and I would not go anywhere else now!

Even though most people breeze by here on quick work or business trips the restaurant is always highly recommended with a chef willing to accommodate all needs no matter how late or early you need a bite. Talk about comfy and clean too. The rooms are well equipped and fairly spacious, and the bar and lounge areas are comfy and tranquil. Plus the staff bend over backwards to ensure you're having a good stay, and the place actually manages to retain a lot of character which is unusual considering the sheer volume of corporate-focussed chain hotels you come across these days. The building is lovely, the location is just the right distance from town and transport links but still feels tucked away and peaceful, and everything's mighty efficient. I had only been here once before when it was Hex and that was some years ago. As I was taking photos for the band, me and a friend were on the guest list. The lady at the box office greeted us warmly, confirmed we were OK to go in free, advised the bouncers of this, who also welcomed us and we went inside. The club is quite dark inside, but this is normal for a rock club. The bar was quite small but the staff were very friendly and advised us that a double Jager Bomb was only £2.95, which is excellent value. Each time we went back to the bar the staff remembered what we were drinking and served us promptly. For a while we sat on the sturdy chairs and tables near the bar before moving to a booth near the stage. There were also booths near the bar but these were occupied. The stage in Revolver is of a decent size. It is raised up which gives you an excellent view of the band. The booths at the side are an excellent place to sit and look across at the bands, and in my case an excellent place to take photos. The sound was very good, the sound engineers had the levels spot on throughout the gig. There is a large outdoor area at revolver which is essential a big marquee that is filled with picnic tables and also has a dance floor on the stage at the far end. There is music playing in there and it's an excellent place to get some air and relax. The other side of the club looks a bit like a pub, with comfy seating and pool tables. It's a great place to chill out and chat with friends. The toilets are pretty cramped and quite dark, but they seemed to be clean and well stocked with loo roll. I really enjoyed my night at Revolver. I usually go to a much bigger rock club in the city centre, but there were definitely some features of revolver which stood out for me and I wish the club I go to had these features, such as the outdoor area.

Stepping into the musty burrow that is the Cabin Club,…read moreyou find yourself seriously pondering whether you just stumbled through a rip in the space-time continuum, ending up in 1988. Either that or the whole building just belched its way into the future and the only way you'll recognise the customers' faces is from missing persons posters in your neighbourhood. There's just something forlorn and eerie about the place. For starters, it's huge. Walking past the bar you'll find a dance floor. Cross that and descend the stairs to find another one. From here you can take one of forty labyrinthine corridors, all leading off to deserted dance floors, dim bars and booths where shadowy figures drink and grumble. Adding to the pervading sense of ghoulishness is the fact nothing seems to have been altered in twenty years. Date-stamped photographs depict parties of frizzy perms and fading grins. Business cards with 'carphone' numbers are pinned to the walls. We tried ringing some of them once but got no answer, imagining ancient brick phones suddenly coming to life in far-flung attics. Put simply, the Cabin Club is an oddity, but a must-see. There's great fun to be had picking out all the chunks of weirdness and wondering what room contains the bodies, but ultimately the only reason anybody would go there would be for the same reason they go to freak shows, to gawp.

There used to be sawdust on the floor, and no one was ever sure whether it was just a quirky feature or to disguise random pools of vomit. There used to be a huge rocking horse that punters would dare each other to climb onto. There used to be a formidable man (some say ex-police) on the door who wouldn't let you in if he didn't like the look of you. Unless he didn't like the look of you but thought he could take the mick, and then he'd charge you a tenner to get in. Walking into the Cabin is like walking into one of those halls of mirrors at a funfair - you get an odd, surreal feeling in the pit of your stomach (if you're not already too drunk) and find it hard to latch on to reality. Despite all this, you can have a fab night out here and wake up the next morning thinking it was all a Mighty Boosh-esque dream.

Most recently the Liverpool label Antipop put on their birthday event and it was the best night out in... forever. The old montly Psycho Motel night that was on here in the past is now a part of legend. There is a decent variety of drinks to choose from and while it's not the cheapest, it's not ridiculous either. Perfectly resonable! For you lot who smoke (poor you) there's an outdoor area with seating for you to puff away. It's good for non-smokers too to be honest, if you just want to get some air. The Kazimier, along with Mello Mello, is the musical hub of Liverpool and somewhere you should be spending the majority of your time. Absolutely essential venue that you CANNOT miss out on.
