Despite having my child one as of the first to catch the stomach bug, there was no communication from Executive Directors informing parents at all and thus seemingly encouraging parents to get their kids sick and take it home with them. They claimed to have put up signs around the site but what good does that do? Afterwards, I offered to help strategize ways to improve communication; however, the idea was completely shrugged off and any involvement was denied. Otherwise, new-born room was great.

My son attended when he was 2 till he turned 3. I am so thankful that we got to experience this daycare and all the wonderful staff members. The center is busy but never chaotic. All the kids are always in a state of ease because the teachers are ALWAYS at ease. My son started off in Miss. Jocelyn's class. She is warm and experienced and loves kids and the kids love her! This was not daycare, it was more like my son's second home. My son would tell me daily as soon as we got home "I wanna go school. I wanna see Miss. Jocelyn." It made my heart soar to know he loved his school and teacher. Shout out to Miss. Shelly who keeps the kids fed. Breakfast always smelled delicious when I dropped him off in the morning. And Miss. Stacy for being an early riser in order to care for the 6:30 drop offs. And Miss. Nita for encouraging my baby to be independent. After ~2 years, I would say that I have been satisfied with my experience about 50% of the time enrolled and I am exploring new options for my children. Reasoning follows: 1. Staffing: constant turnover and short staffing lead inadequate teacher:child ratios. You will end up dropping off/picking up your child from different rooms and different faces frequently. Administration will not communicate staffing changes and deceptively leave up pictures of former staff on classroom boards. 2. Cleanliness: the 1-2 year old classroom has glue coming through the floorboards. It has been 6 months since first reported with no remedy. Do you want your kids crawling on this floor? (See picture). If you open the refrigerators or look in drawers or cabinets, you will be disgusted. Too many of the toys and books in the rooms are in very poor condition. 3. Learning Environment: It is difficult to provide a consistently rich learning environment when constantly short staffed and rotating through new faces. 4. Owner: She is rarely present except for when she is asking you for more money for one of her charitable tax write off initiatives.

Unfortunately because of the sickness, he only spent two full weeks in school out of the two months period. Before the tubes were even put into place, my son was kicked out of the school with teachers claiming he was possibly autistic and more than they could handle. I came to Goddard Chamblee with paperwork in hand that the previous school handed me with my tail tucked between my legs also terrified that they would agree and turn my son away. After a quick discussion and a glance at the paperwork, they agreed that no child should ever be left behind and that the previous school didn't even give my son a chance. My son has now been enrolled at Goddard Chamblee for two months and has hit more milestones and thriving more than he ever has anywhere else. The teachers are so loving, nurturing, and patient. They work with my son to ensure he's truly a part of the class and I can tell they genuinely care about him. Words cannot express how thankful I am for Goddard Chamblee. And special shoutout to Ms. Wendy who truly makes his classroom seem like home.

Reasons why I loved this school so much: - the staff: they really cared about my daughter and us parents. They came out every day to talk to us and give us updates on her day. You could tell they also were educated in childhood education. We loved our Ms Sheryl, Itzel and Kim - learning: they have a monthly curriculum where they teach the kids something age appropriate every day. My daughter flourished here. - Food: I loved that I did not have to pack food and I knew she was getting healthy organic options - coach: he made all the kids happy - community: this school felt like a small community. My husband got covid during our time in Atlanta and the school made us feel like we were cared for. They informed everyone in the school in a timely manner and sent us well wishes and food ! - communication: in the difficult times of covid TLC was amazing at communicating with us weekly about all measures they were taking. It made us feel at ease. Also, they use the Beightwheel app and updates us daily with pictures of her and her friends :) - clean. Friendly. Affordable. Simply amazing. Their small outdoor space faces the coffee shop so I see the kids and teachers outside often. The teachers are almost always on their phones. Recently I saw a toddler crying, trying to get the teacher's attention. She did finally get off her phone but I didn't see her tending to the child up to the point I walked inside the coffee shop. When I came back out the lady looked my way, but she still stayed on her phone all the while I got into the car to leave. I will say the other two teachers were appearing to interact with some of the other children, but the other lady couldn't look away from her phone. As I stated, often both teachers are glued to their phones every time I come. Was surprised this was a Reggio Emilia school, as what I've observed doesn't fall in line with its philosophy. If this were just a daycare I guess it wouldn't bother me as much since these specialized early childhood schools often command a much higher cost to parents. The expectation is the children get the benefits of experienced, dedicated teachers, not just whomever they can get as is the case in most daycares. As the mom of a toddler, I was especially bothered seeing the la k of response to the children crying. I'm grateful that we have been able to avoid daycare up to this point since these are my exact concerns with these places. The owners/directors should definitely try to implement some rules around phones, so caretakers will be more engaged, since we all know everyone is addicted to their phone. This is a reasonable request for most jobs, particularly when your job is to be present and responsive to young learners. Ok, stepping off my soapbox now.

My two year old actually asks us on the weekends if he can "go to school." The owner is involved in these kids and because of the smaller size it is more of a family feel. My son feels at home and I especially appreciate the diversity as well as the fact that it's clean. The only con is sometimes the meals are a little heavy on the carbs and they do get screen time during certain parts of the day. But the woman who said KINDERCARE has a curriculum needs to update her review. They use Mother Goose at Sterling and their app gets updated all day as well. I love seeing photos, video, and notifications on my boy while I'm at work.

Most of the parents know each other and each other's children, as the environment has a family like feel. The children are well behaved, Ive never seen a disciplinary issue. I have seen my child, who has special needs, make progress with his social and listening skills. He is excited to be in the environment. I plan to keep him there for as long as we live in the area.
