Do NOT sign up for any subscription to this paper! I just signed up for the promotion of unlimited digital access for 6 months for $0.99. While signing up, it says the subscription will then automatically renew after expiration at a rate of $4.99 per week, but that I can call if I need to make adjustments to or cancel my subscription. I immediately found this sketchy - why can't I do this online like all other subscriptions I have ever had? - but, whatever, as long as I'm able to cancel. I checked my account and it shows that I have no subscription and that my old one (which I never had) expires today. I called them the same day to get help and cancel my subscription as I'm not even getting what I paid for, and I was told that I cannot cancel it until it expires. I wasn't asking for a refund, just to cancel so that it doesn't renew. I was then told that it will automatically charge me $19.96 10 days before my subscription expires. How is this a legal business practice? Are they so desperate that they have to resort to such sketchy tactics? The people I spoke with said that they can't cancel it, but I'll get refunded the $19.96 on May 6th, the day after the subscription expires. How can I trust this, and why can't I cancel before it automatically renews, again, like every other subscription I've ever had?? Why can I not prevent the charge from happening in the first place? My account still shows that I have no subscription and cannot access the content I paid for. Absolutely horrible organization, one that I will no longer support in any way. I was excited to support a local paper, but I am incredibly disappointed with the customer service. The last person I spoke with was a gentleman who said he knows that the subscription model is ridiculous and feels bad that this keeps happening to people. I have been trying to resolve a charge on my account for a subscription that I didn't order. I know this may seem petty, but it is important to me. I've contacted your customer service, and the people were rude, unprofessional and unhelpful. My subscription was ordered April 4th, 26 week special for .99. I was advised I could cancel at any time prior to the end of the offer period, and as a result I took the offer. My credit card was charged 15.96 on Sept 22, which is earlier than the end of the offer period. Expecting this was a mistake, and wanting to resolve it, I contacted customer service, both individuals advised me that I signed an agreement to have my account charged 10 days before the renewal. I find NOTHING that states that. Additionally I asked them to point me to the place on the website that states that, and when I attempted to find it (with the person on the phone) I was unable to. I asked to assistance and both times they disconnected the call. Legitimate terms and conditions should NOT be hidden and should be easily identified when asked. I should not have been charged and deserve a refund of the 15.96. read more

There is good and bad in everything in today's society. I try to find the silver lining and always begin with the positive. I believe it's awesome that the New Haven Register has an online presence and offers a great introduction special for people who have may have given up on purchasing the paper due to erratic delivery service and a dumbing down of the third grade level vocabulary utilized. It is one of only a few places to learn and to see local news. Recently, I have been very dismayed with the quality and content of many news articles. Critical thinking requires one to research the source, analyze the facts and draw conclusions. However, the paper has become a source of biased, propaganda brainwashing information to significantly divide our population and put every generation at the throats of others. I certainly hope that the people who are in charge will do their due diligence as editors to make sure that only factual objective news is covered and reported immediately! read more

Would not give a one star. You suck paper always wet throw in the driveways when I sign d up for my mom told them she was disabled they were super to but it the mailbox. Did a online trial subscription, within one week couldn't access "newspaper" because they didn't like the fact that I utilize a ad-blocker. Obviously they feel that they have the right to tell me how to utilize my computer and media input. Prior to that - found their search engine very poor. Called to complain, got nowhere. If I could give them less than one star, I would. I've called the customer service number repeatedly and every option I choose ends with Thank you for calling- good bye, and hangs up on me. I can't get through to speak with anyone. They have enrolled my elderly mother in autopay and are charging her full undiscounted rates. If it was for me I would cancel yesterday. For her I need to talk with someone about her account and options- but that seems impossible. read more

How I wish there was a negative rating - because I would certainly give it. Once again, it is 9:33AM and I still have not received a paper. This is a regular occurrence and when I call I am told I will have my account credited - which is not what I want! I want the paper! I have emailed the executive editor, the circulation department, the subscription department, and someone who claims he is a "supervisor" with regularity and the situation is not getting better -- in fact, it is just the opposite. This is the final straw - I have told them (and honestly, I don't think they care) that if the paper is not delivered by noon they will be losing subscriber of over 40 years IMMEDIATELY. I am so angry, I could scream. I pay to have SIX Sunday New Haven Registers delivered to my home. Every time I renew my subscription, I get shorter FIVE papers, for at least two weeks. I call, I get asked if I want the papers or a credit on my account. I want my papers, I tell them. I never get them. This time, I spoke to TWO people. I was PROMISED that I would get those missing Sunday papers and that the head of Circulation and the person in charge of drivers would be notified. That was Monday. Nothing Monday, nothing Tuesday. No papers, no phone call. I PAY for these papers. And, no, they aren't getting stolen. This week, my husband heard one paper hit the driveway. I subscribed, at a decent rate, for convenience. Time to go back to the convenience store to get papers of my choosing. read more
