DO NOT GO HERE!!! PLEASE READ:…read more I collected my new puppy, Casper, formerly Roman, from breeder Brandy Sullivan White on June 20th. I was immediately concerned with the puppy's condition as I could feel a heart murmur/thrill through his chest at the time of pickup. However, I was assured that he was in perfect health by Brandy and was provided with a health certificate from her vet , Dr. Hunt Tainter of Franklin County Animal Medical Center (written on June 19th as part of a wellness visit). Due to my concerns, Casper was assessed by my vet June 29th who confirmed my suspicions and told me he likely had a grade 4 heart murmur. I then followed up with a cardiologist who diagnosed him with pulmonary stenosis which is fairly advanced with a grade 5 or higher murmur. This condition is not curable, therefore he will likely need to be euthanized. He is also missing one testicle, again suggesting he has not received proper veterinary care throughout his time with Dr. Tainter, that his health certificate is inaccurate, and that he simply wasn't examined thoroughly. This is profoundly disappointing and upsetting, especially as that means the murmur was missed by Dr. Hunt Tainter as this is a congenital condition which has been present, detectable, and getting worse since birth. If I, someone with no medical training can detect these issues then this vet should have been able to as well, especially as they were obvious. The vet will not respond to me at all and I have had to resort to reporting this matter to the licensing board as I cannot get a response from him which is extremely disappointing. He hasn't even offered an apology. They also will not confirm if the other puppy parents in the litter have been informed. As this is a congenital condition, there is a chance other puppies have the same condition, or that other medical conditions have been missed. I highly recommend having your pets be seen elsewhere!
