We wanted to find a new church that was closer to us than the one we were attending on the east side of Pearland. HOW DID WE NOT KNOW ABOUT NEW HOPE PREVIOUSLY?!?!? We have come to New Hope for about 4 Sundays so far and we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. Our first Sunday, we were warmly greeted in the "Tailgate area" by a volunteer and he walked us through the process of setting up our kiddos in the youth program. (Great security for the kids with printed badges). The lobby has coffee, iced tea (which was a surprise) and Shipley donuts (how fancy). There is PLENTY of seating in the sanctuary. Our previous church was about the size of the floor level only. New Hope also has stadium-type seating as well. The music is INCREDIBLE. We are blown away by how good the vocalists are. I mean, one of the women sounds like Carrie Underwood! They could nearly all be professional singers, they are THAT good. Pastor Tim (the main Pastor) does a great job with the messages. He has a great sense of humor and sprinkles it in, just enough. The other Pastors are good as well. Truly, we look forward to coming each week. Highly recommend. read more

It's a long one. But I never would have imagined having an experience like that with a pastor. My experiences with pastors have always been loving and kind. This was not. During the sermon, the pastor was speaking about our relationship with Jesus and Christianity. He said that it's not about our feelings, and we put too much emphasis on that these days. He then went on to say, "I could say I feel that I'm a cat. And now I'm a cat. Or I could feel that I'm a girl. And now I'm a girl." Much to the laughter and applause of the congregation. I'm doing my best to remember exact wording. But I believe they have recordings up. From may 25.2025. Maybe halfway through. Anyways, I just immediately felt for if there were any trans people there. Maybe one who had been curious about Christianity, but nervous of acceptance into the community. That person would've just been ridiculed into shying away from God. I went to speak to the pastor (Tim) after the service. I finally find him. They're about to do a bunch of baptisms (which is AMAZING! Love to see people committing their life to Christ and being born anew. But during the sermon, they said "even if it's your first time here! Even if you've never even though about being baptized before, today's the day!!" Which.. baptism is a big deal. Not something you just decide on a whim. It's not a fad. It's something that should take a lot of prayer, thought, consideration..) So Chad (real name) sees me waiting to speak to Tim, as he was talking to someone else. Chad comes over and asks what I'm doing. I told him. He said about what? I said I wanted to speak to him about the sermon and I had a question. He then said "well don't you think it's kinda rude to come talk to him now when all this stuff is going on? Why don't you just talk to me?" (Keep in mind, Tim is talking to anothet churchgoer as this is happening). I said, "no, I'd like to speak with him but thank you." This went back and forth until he gave up and walked back to his post a few feet away. Chad was very rude. I finally talk to Tim. I shake his hand and tell him what I enjoyed about the service. I then told him it felt very un-Jesus-like to be openly mocking trans people to an entire congregation. I was very clear in saying that I wasn't asking him to change his convictions, only to be more loving. He became very defensive and went on about how trans people are living in sin & they're going to hell & so he doesn't want to associate with people like that. He said, "these people are living in sin" and I said, "ok so you've never sinned?" And he said, "now you're just being petty." (Need to note that my tone was not petty. It was humble & calm & not argumentative. This question I asked is, however, the closest I came to accepting bids for a debate/argument). He said that mocking them is totally fine as Jesus mocked people (Jesus did not MOCK people. He was known to use sarcasm, irony, etc to make a point. But did not MOCK people.) I said it's not fair to generalize an entire community of people like that, especially a community that has been nothing but loving. He then raised his voice at me a bit here and said, "nothing but loving?! Do you know the hate comments I've gotten from that 'loving' community of yours?!" I said, "no one deserves hate, but again, you can't generalize an entire community" (and I should have been more articulate in saying that he shouldn't reciprocate hate with hate. Which is wild to think I'd have to explain that to a grown man, especially a pastor. But at this point, there were about 6 men (boys) near us nodding and cheering him on with "amens" and "yeahs" as he spoke so rudely to me.) I told him I just wanted to ask him to focus more on love and Jesus instead of judgement of others, thanked him for his time, wished him a nice day, and left. I stayed calm and humble. I did not accept his instigations for debate/argument as that was not my purpose. I had not come to debate about LGBTQ, I asked him to consider being more loving and open so that more people could come to know Jesus. Jesus says "come as you are." Not "come as long as you're straight cis like me." Wouldn't you want EVERYONE to feel welcome at your church? So that more people can come to know Jesus? I've been here a few times with family over the years and watched online with them. I had always found the sermons kind of dry, but my family loves it so I honestly figured I was just always catching them on an off day. read more

I do appreciate that someone responded to the review. Upon reading it again, I realize that it seems a little harsh. For some context, I grew up in the church as the kid of a minister and visit lots of churches in lots of contexts over the years. I was specifically looking for a home church for me and my kids which is where this review is based on. I do think New Hope is a fantastic Community Church that is very appealing to people who typically don't go to church. The times I went, they had coffee and donuts outside, the kids really enjoyed the kids area, parking is super simple (which is a big deal if you don't go to church a lot), and people are generally friendly. So if you're in town and visiting, or if you haven't been to church in a long time, New Hope is definitely a great place to attend. read more

Great church, very big, nice and friendly people and staff. Love the pastors they are really cool and know how to grow deep into your problems and know how to help you fix them. I rarely attend this campus because its so far out, but I took my parents here when they were in town and they loved it. Free donuts, coffee, and other snacks in the morning is a plus because most churches have you PAY! Very big spacious building, but I only rated them 4 stars because too many people and mostly likely crowded. I like how they have the children in their own mini church learning about God, so no distractions when listening to the word. I would recommend to anyone read more

Yelping about a church?! Oh well, it is 2017; I'll get down with the times. Plus, I LOVE New Hope, so I want to show it love! After I came back from college, I wanted to find somewhere I felt comfortable as I dived more into my faith. I was a little overwhelmed at how large New Hope is, so I went to a smaller church nearby, which turned out to not be the right fit. As a result, I gave New Hope a chance, and it has been a big part of my life ever since. First off, there are multiple services on different days to help with scheduling, and certain service times are less packed if that is a concern. Secondly, New Hope may be a big church, but the staff & volunteers make sure you feel welcomed. Now, I am so glad it is large, in order, to reach more people. The sermons are done with listening guides, and there is free food & drinks before the sermons. Great live Christian music to praise God! Look I went to this church by myself, and now this is the church that I was baptized at, have volunteered at for about a year, & invite my family and friends to. This is the best church I have ever been to. I almost gave up on church all together, and then tried New Hope Church out. I was hooked! I was amazed that church could be so awesome! Right when you walk in the door you are greeted and if you need help figuring out where to go, they help you. The kids programs are AMAZING, the music is fantastic, and the message is 30 minutes long, but you walk away a little bit changed for the better each week. I can not say enough good things about this church. Just try it once and you will keep coming back!
