I know a lot of people like this thrift store, it's one of the most recommended ones in the area. But I saw a *used* sideboard table priced for $300. $300! You can get NEW furniture cheaper at Walmart. It wasn't even solid wood, it was some wood veneer stuff. I mentioned something at the front and they went hard about oUr MiNiStRy and all of the programs they support. Which is fine and all, but the ministry can ALSO support low income people by not charging offensive prices on items they get for free. God only knows if they really use the money responsibly. (Also the lady who checked me out was standoffish with me from the get go, before I even opened my mouth to say hi.) The expectation, when one donates to a thrift store, is that their items will go to someone else who needs those items at an affordable price. Not that some organization will use the items to do charity gymnastics by overcharging. They should be focused first and foremost on ministering to the low-income people who come to thrift stores to get affordable furniture. Not freaking $300 for a small sideboard buffet. Anyway so I would recommend donating your furniture to the ARC rather than here, if you want to see it actually passed on affordably to families in need. But if you're looking to buy clothes, this is unfortunately probably the better bet in town. I feel gross giving them my money now. I think it's disgusting when any thrift shop takes advantage of donations finance their special interests. Just let people have somewhere affordable to shop; Lord knows we need it in this economy. read more

Now that I am retired, I have time to search for great bargain's. This thrift store is in a new location. Easy to get to, great parking and has the best prices of the other thrifts in Pueblo; Goodwill and ARC. That being said, if you are looking for ski wear, this is the place to go. Nearly new ski wear for all ages. I really couldn't believe it. Lots of beginner's try and give up. Their cloth's are here!! With inflation being what it is you are crazy to shop retail - so many good finds at such reasonable prices. Try and buy . . . you won't be disappointed! read more

Inside is extremely well-kept & organized; but these are hardly thrift store prices. Items are NOT marked down to prices that those in need can reasonably afford for a quality item anymore. Something changed. The ministry should not need to get 50-60% of the full price value for FREE donated items you can buy in better condition for less on eBay. As a religious organization who's mission is supposedly to give back, and already gets ample cash donations through the church, this is actually quite disappointing to see. I only knew of New Horizons Thrift because I visited the Canon City location every day of our vacation. I was excited to find the store in Pueblo as well. They are well organized and clean. They have a wide variety of clothing, shoes, household items and some food items. Food prices are similar to local retail, clothing is reasonably priced and a nice selection, they do have a weekly 1/2 price tag selection and shoes are priced average thrift with the exception of name brands which may be $14 to $34.99 and maybe a few higher. The higher priced are decent quality for the price you pay. I love the mission of New Horizons and do not mind supporting a business that is giving back to the community. read more

Dear god, talk about overpriced! Heavily water damaged computer desk was $25?! Lol okkkkkk. Clothing is not good quality yet they charge like it is. My husband is a golfer and went to look through the selection of clubs. The selection is large so that's good but when you're charging over $20 for a club, that's ridiculous. It's insane to say that goodwill is cheaper with better organization than this store. Hard pass in the future. read more

Everytime I've gone in,I've always found people welcoming and caring. We buy books here to give away to kids, teachers, librarians etc. They are priced very well but love 1/2 off the color of the day. Been shopping there for years and love it. read more

New horizons used to be the best place to go if you needed something and didn't have alot of cash. Recently, I'm starting to feel like I'm at the Goodwill...in the sense that everything is overpriced now. It's kinda sad. Everything the sell was donated to them. Totally free. 100% profit. Now, much like the Goodwill, they seem to be more concerned with cash profits, rather than helping our community. It's really sad. I don't go there for fun anymore. I used to go a couple times a week. At least there's still the What If Thrift in Florence. That young lady has excellent prices and even a totally free zone! That's how you give back. New Horizons is clean, well spaced, and clothes are sized, hanging, and sorted by styles of clothing. I like! ( as I left my husband in the car) hahaha! My husband and I were traveling from New Mexico to Colorado when we happened upon this thrift store. This one blows a lot of them out of the water! On entering, you see a humongous room of organized clothing as well as shelves of seasonal items and new Christian books and Bible covers. Hubby got a pair of jeans and a golf shirt for a fraction of their original price. They appear to be brand new. I bought an Easter dress and some snacks: veggie chips, sunflower seeds... To our surprise, they had homemade jams with no added sugar. We bought one as a gift for our hosts. I liked the roomy fitting rooms in the middle of the store. My husband spent some time in the hardware section which was in a separate room in the back. I found out later from a Yelp review that a portion of our money goes toward a ministry that helps foster children! read more

My all time favorite thrift shop. I was visiting family who lives in Pueblo and came across this shop and absolutely fell in love! They have great items for great prices and the staff is absolutely the nicest ever!! I wish there were other locations in Houston where I live. read more

I am Super impressed by the store itself but am extra impressed by the ministry side of this store. They work with children of parents in prison. Especially the ones in foster care. If you are a DIYer or you love to fix up furniture.. This place will BLOW YOUR MIND. I'm from Texas, and on a road trip through Pueblo, me and my boyfriend stopped at this place. Let's just say I did not want to leave. $7 for a table, $11 for a large dresser... You just don't find prices like this in Texas thrift stores. Or most thrift stores at all. I love it. This is a cute thrift store and we go there often. They have a pretty decent selection of everything, especially clothes. They have great prices too! They are a religious based store so they have a lot of religious type items and the employees dress very conservatively and some girls even wear bonnets. It's cool. There is plenty of parking because it being near Big Lots and D.S.S. Be careful of pot holes and speed bumps. read more

I live in Pueblo and have shopped at New Horizons for 7 years. The last time I went in looking for reasonable furniture pieces dressers, small love seat.I'm on disability and there better pcs. were 349.00 & 289,200,300 (couch), the junk furniture was 40-100. This is shameful these things are donated, they don't deliver I could have gotten brand new furniture for those prices. Well like all charities in this town they have become unchristian and profit run I guess their paying for their New store. Very Very disappointing and I asked one of the cashiers why they'd become so high she just smiled and walk off never even speaking. read more

I went to the new store today and was very disappointed. They really need to work on the layout of the store. The aisles of home decorations are all jammed together, you can get only one cart down one of the aisles making it difficult if 2 or more want to shop. There are carts in the way of entering and exiting the store. And they need to have better merchandise. I bought 4 Southern Living Magazines and in each one, 30 pages were ripped out - those should be free. Hope things improve. read more

The prices, people, and items are all fantastic. I am not usually one to go to thrift stores, but I was very impressed by this place and their selection. Most things were like new, and some were new with tags on them still. I found several designer pieces too! Highly recommend a visit. read more

Once inside New Horizons Ministries Thrift store in Pueblo, I noticed a hand-written sign: FOOD ON THIS TABLE IS 25% OFF. Licorice was on the table; I came to buy licorice but had never seen licorice in any store at any time mixed in with "FOOD". It has always been in the candy aisle! I put the package in my cart only to find out within seconds from the floor worker that, in fact, the candy wasn't 25% off because it didn't have a blue sticker. (CONFUSION FOR SHOPPERS NUMBER TWO); wanting to see if I missed important labeling, I went back to the table. There was no information about "blue stickers". But a package of pumpkin seeds was on the table AND it is food AND it had a blue sticker. I put it in my cart and located another package of pumpkin seeds on a nearby shelf. The two items were identical except for the blue sticker. So I questioned the same floor worker. Loudly within hearing distance of everyone, she answered, "Maybe the expiration dates are different. DID YOU THINK OF THAT!" Excuse me! I said to myself. This type of thinking is not the customers' job. But I checked: the expiration dates were exactly the same. Experiencing misleading information and having been degraded, I decided to check out. I did not want one more conflicting moment. At the register, the cashier who had heard the conversations, arrogantly pointed to the computer screen; all pumpkin seeds with or without a blue sticker were 25% off. Therefore, the some-of-this, some-of-that floor pricing didn't even match the computer information. But somehow, I-the customer-was made to feel it was my fault because I questioned them. The cashier looked down her nose at me and said "have a blessed day!" I quickly left, thinking once again to myself that you all have created discord and been degrading, then you have the nerve to bless me! Why not label items correctly and if not at least have the good GRACE to say I am sorry! read more
