I have to admit I'm extremely impressed with the quality of their beer. When I pulled up, I was a bit worried as the place was hard for me to find. With that said, I was instantly impressed with the service and friendliness of the staff who helped make recommendations to me. I bought a four pack and when I got around to cracking my first can was instantly disappointed that I didn't buy more. I go to a lot of breweries... a lot. Steve and I enjoyed the Peaches N' Cream IPA from New Jersey Beer Co. This IPA was quite a bit different than many as it was pretty dominant with a peach flavor unlike others in which you usually get citrus and that is certainly a good thing because when you keep getting IPA's that have similar flavor profiles it's easy for them to blur from brewery to brewery. There is a nice creamy smoothness to this beer and though peach is a fairly sweet fruit this beer isn't too sugary which I have decided to avoid if I can because it's more like drinking a thick soda and that is not what I am looking for with beer experiences. This place is 100% a hidden gem! It's so unassuming on the outside with a windowless garage door- we almost thought we were in the wrong place. Don't be fooled because it's so cozy inside! It's spacious and dog-friendly too. They do flights, so I was able to try a variety. My favorite was the Snickers stout- so creamy and chocolatey. I also loved the Peaches & Cream IPA. I'm rapidly developing a bit of an obsession for double and triple IPA's. NJ Beer Company in North Bergen is on my radar at the moment. Their Blood Orange IPA and limited edition double IPA are two of the finest examples of NJ craft IPA I've tasted lately. I'm no craft brew expert -- but I know what pairs well with my food and my palate. Not always easy to find (Fairway and Bottle King stock both -- usually pretty fresh) -- but North Bergen is close enough if I need me some stock from the source. The industrial space suits me just fine -- gritty enough to speak beer in a husky voice -- not foo foo. Growlers are available. Their limited edition dry hopped double IPA packs a nice ABV wallop at 8.5% -- with an herbal back -- this beer is great for sipping and as good as Duvel or other equally highly regarded imported ales. This ain't no hard seltzer folks. :)) The Blood Orange IPA version is available year round and is sweeter -- with herbal notes to match the prominent citrus character of this brew. A nice refreshing pop at 6.6% ABV. Perfect for a hot summer quaff or as dessert when the weather gets colder. Top Tip: You can sample flights at the brewery any day except Monday and Tuesday. After wanting to visit the New Jersey Beer Co. for quite some time, we finally made it there on a recent weekend afternoon. We took the Light Rail to the Tonnelle Avenue stop, which was the end of that line. I had read that NJBC was a short walk from the station, which it was, but the stroll was on a main road with a good deal of vehicular traffic. Thankfully we made it there safely, and upon our arrival, we discovered a non-descript door to a brick factory. We opened the door slowly, curious about what we would find on the other side. Well, we were met with a cozy hideaway that included several high-top tables and a small bar with stool seating. We grabbed some seats at the bar and each collated a tasting flight with 4 beers, which we would also share amongst the two us, allowing us to try a bit of everything. My favorite of the bunch was the Tasting Colors, a refreshing, crisp New England IPA with generous notes of citrus fruit. Other varieties like the Cups of Peanut Butter & Chocolate and the Strawberry Shortcake Double IPA highlighted just how creative the brewer really was. In addition to the imaginative brews, the staff was friendly and engaging throughout the entire experience. Also, for those not interested in the boozy aspect, the brewery had a large supply of board games and even live music as alternative/additional sources of entertainment. Is there better beer in the state of New Jersey? Possible but I doubt it. Producing some of the state's best brews, New Jersey Beer Co. (#1) has earned my fandom from many sips. They have some of the nicest guys in the biz and do a great job pushing out the brand. I honestly do get excited whenever I get a chance to drink anything they have to offer. Their tasting room, located in North Bergen, is only open midweek and the weekend (Weds-Sun) and tours are free. They have a variety of beers, some seasonal but many that are available in stores, bars, and restaurants. My personal favorites are their Skyway Saison, 1787 Abbey Single Ale, and their Hudson Pale Ale. I trust there will be more that I'll add to the list in due time. Lastly, had I not attended events in Jersey for Yelp, it's possible I would have never tried them at all. Now that I've become more appreciative of craft beer and the various breweries that supply them, I'm confident in recommending NJ Beer to anyone who is looking for quality brews in the tri-state area. I've been here numerous times with my buddies. Located on one of the main arteries of Hudson county, Tonelle Ave. NJ Beer Co has everything that makes you feel proud about being from the Garden State from the brews to the picture of the BOSS in the bathroom. Saturday afternoons are a good time, if it's your first time they'll let you try samples of the beer on tap. My personal favorite is the LBIPA from the crisp citrus kick of the ale down to the label which includes the local lighthouse "Old Barney" as the "I" in IPA. You can also find copious amounts of Chex mix served along the bar and tables. Parking is fairly easy to come by as the street location is vast. The IPA and Double IPA are great tasting beers. Think I heard that somewhere. IPAs have very similar characteristics. Think "hoppy", full bold and in the case of a double IPA; higher alcohol volume with a more hoppy taste. I am sure if you ask an employee, they would give you the finer points. As a regular beer drinker very tasty and delicious. Service is outstanding. From Casey to the other members of the team they are friendly, informative, knowledgeable and just plain nice. What more can you ask for. New Jersey Beer Company is a working brewery. When you walk in, you are in the actual brewing area. The Tap Room is on your right. While it is not the best looking and a bit small at times; it works. I am here for beer, not to be seen. New Jersey Beer Company is a must stop if you like craft beers. It is a bit out of the way in the industrial section of North Bergen, but there is a bus route from Port Authority to Tonnelle Ave and only a short walk to NJBC. About 2 minutes or so. My beer tour continues. NJ Beer Co. was the 63rd brewery I visited in NJ, and the staff joked it's also the 64th because 902 Brewing out of Hoboken contract brews there, too. After visiting and tasting the brews, I could not believe that it took me that long to finally make it there. They are one of the best breweries in the state. They have a very gritty, industrial-type atmosphere. Some people expect brand-spanking new tasting rooms, but you won't get that here. However, there is a designated bar and tasting area. Everybody is super friendly, and that's the way I like it. There's a regular crowd there, and pretty much everyone talked to me. I really enjoyed learning from all of them. On the day I went, the Imperial IPA was my favorite because it had a complex, sophisticated flavor. However, every single beer in the flight was delicious. They have cans available, too, so be sure to grab yourself one on your way out. It was just a little hard to find because Google Maps leads you just to the front of the industrial complex. There were also no signs from the main road. However, I finally did find it. Parking was not hard. I was worried that it would be an urban area, but you can park right in front of the building. A hole in the wall dive bar. Surrounding area seems a little sketch (?) and it was a little hard to find this place, but when you find it, its a really great little dive bar with great beer. You have to enter through the loading dock, and on the left is the brewery while on the right is the bar area. There are a few seats at the bar, and then a few standing tables with games for friends in the corner. Overall its a very chill neighborhood vibe. They have a rotating draft list of the 12 beers, and prices are very modest and fair. Pints go for $6 and growlers are $12, and a flight of 6 is $13. Overall, the atmosphere of the bar is very chill, and i definitely recommend to others to come visit for a casual date or outing with friends. My brothers and I went here on a calm Friday night and we ended up having a blast! They have different flavor beer that taste really good. They have a candy theme going on which was pretty cool and it made us want to try various beers. We spent a good two to three hours just talking and try beer tasting. One of the workers was also enjoying us being there and he gave us free beer tasting cups which was awesome. They also have a couple of board games and many tables to sit and play. Great beers and lovely staff! I had a fun visit here and I know I'll be back again. I first heard of this brewery through Grateful Dead Touch of Grey IPA and seeing their very-NJ artwork cans at local stores. The brewery is in a giant warehouse, and there is street parking right across. Stepping in you have the brewing area to the left and tasting area to the right. It's fairly no-frills, so it's more of a place to enjoy having the beer straight from the source. They offer samples, have beer flights (great deal!), fill growlers, and sell their brews in cans too. As a proud New Jerseyan, it's also fun to see some local homage such as the PATH Pale Ale that I walked out with. Looking forward to my next visit! read more

Decent Session Beer Seasonals Are Good Location Is Awful The folks at New Jersey Beer Company make some decent beer, I've had it bottled before visiting. The location leaves a lot to be desired as a destination, situated in a run down industrial area just off Tonnelly Ave in North Bergen. From the entrance to the tasting room you have seen it all at this micro brewery, so your tour is complete as you take a seat at the small makeshift bar. Four taps a couple of mixed stools and a table or two with one TV and a cooler with bottled beer to go. The clientele seemed to be regulars with an occasional walk in for a growler fill. I came as a paying customer and drank all the beer they had to offer. To keep it simple, I found it overall to be too thin with poor lacing and no real pronounced flavor. The session beers all had a similar profile, despite that they were quite drinkable and brewed to be so. Took a growler of the seasonal home (Weehawken Wee Heavy) to revisit it the next day, I liked it but found my original observations correct not very good depth. Pricing is in line with any small brewery but the place was just kinda lacking any personality. Of the two bartenders working, the younger was pretty cool while the other guy was stoic, neither was overly passionate about their product. Brewmaster was on hand drinking and talking beer, nice enough kinda guy whose background is in home brewing. This place is seriously awesome! 1) Lots of street parking right in front. 2) The whole place just exudes "cool" from the second you step foot in it. Right away you breathe in the delicious aroma of beer, and are immediately entertained by their funny signs, stickers, and wall art (including that of Sean 9 Lugo). 3) They have a beer for every preference and palate that you can sample, enjoy a pint, or even take home in bottles or growlers. They also have an array of shirts and hoodies, glassware, books, etc. for purchase. 4) All the guys are super knowledgeable, friendly, and funny. No matter how busy it was, they made sure every patron was attended to whether it was answering questions or topping up drinks. My boyfriend and I like to go on brewery tours so this place was very appealing because the website didn't require you to book a tour ahead of time they just tell you to show up to the place! We had a great time here even though we didn't get to have a formal tour of the place. We asked, but they said they would get someone to show us around if more people were interested. Either way, we still really enjoyed watching the tour on the TV because it's still super informative. The people who work here are super super nice. Refreshing, because this is so close in the area to Beer Garden and they're not so personable there. Was really excited to check into this place on Yelp to redeem a free high five! We ordered a flight of beer for $9 and the bar manager was nice enough to give us the two beers that were not listed on the menu for free! We thought it was funny because we asked for water and he set two Poland Springs in front of us. And my boyfriend and I thought in our head, "ugh this is going to cost us". It's needs a larger space and a little more inviting entrance - it's in a weird/sketchy location with a warehouse entrance that you're not-so-sure-of. However, the bartender Casey was friendly and easy to talk to. It had some good beers but our favorite beer was Weehawken Wee Heavy which is a darker beer but a lighter body and 9%, I mean it's a no brainer. $9 flights, $5 pints, $5 for the growler, and $6 to fill the growler (32oz). This is truly an experience. I have never visited a microbrewery, especially an NJ-based one. And this one is a great start to a tour de force in the NYC metro area. Brendan, Kevin and David (the owners as resident faces of this place) start you off with free 4oz samples of each of their brews. They are highly informed about their beer and the brewing process. At 5-6 bucks each it's a great price. My favorite is theirs Garden State Stout; I believe it's made using toasted barley and dark chocolate. However, I wound up nabbing a six-pack of their seasonal brew (9% alcohol by volume and very robust) to go. They are located right off of Tonnelle Avenue on 43rd street. Open most Fridays for tasting from 5-9pm. Nice comfy NJ Beer Company hoodies for $30. Awesome red or gray polo shirts for $25. And the pint glasses!! Great place to visit! The owners/brewmasters are on site and very happy to give you the short tour and talk beer! Very local ambiance; maybe 20 people there. You get 4 free samples and then you got to start buying your own drinks. The product that these guys come out with is great. I hope I can find it in stores near me soon. Four stars only because I'm hoping they get the chance to expand somewhere nicer. I understand that they are fairly just getting off the ground. I guess I'm spoiled by the brew tours at Red Brick/Sweetwater I want to give them some space to improve even more and blow my mind. Highly recommend coming here! read more

Beer was fresh. People were friendly. Cool little place tucked away off the main rd. if you visit breweries you know these places can be tricky to find especially when using gps. They bottle the beer if u want a 6 pack to go or a growler fill. read more

They brew up fantastic beers in this little micro brew. They have tours on Fridays and Saturdays and its totally worth checking out. It's a nice little local spot that brews up a good IPA, a Belgian Wheat, a Scotch Ale thats 8% and will have you feeling great and a few select others that were all enjoyable! I came here for a Yelp elite event and all the workers were extremely friendly, welcoming, informative and knowledgeable on all the brews. The beer prices here are super cheap! We did come in expecting to get a tour of the facilities, however, this isn't your Sam Adams brewery type of place. So, don't come in expecting any of that. But yeah, if you're looking for cheap beer, this place will hit the spot. There is also meter parking in front and free parking on the other side of the block, so that's a plus. If you've got an hour to kill and you're with a group of friends, do it up. read more

Stopped in while visiting my home state. This place makes me want to move back. Unfortunately, my beer money would go to property taxes. So, I'll have to visit every time in the Garden State. Made a trip to this brewery. Bought a growler fill of the triple IPA. Great flavor, tropical citrusy, a bit on the sweet side, with a decent amount of of alcohol (~9%). Great place to hang out with friends enjoying quality beer. Its nice to have this cool down to earth brewery at an area of Jersey that's not known for being cool. read more
