We have been part of Sky Martial Arts since 2023. Before joining Sky, we checked out two other…read morestudios and did trial classes in order to find the best fit for my two kids (then 5 and 7 years old). Even though Sky was the furthest away from our house, we chose this dojang for the following reasons: 1) Grandmaster Yoon, the founder of the studio was the world Taekwondo champion in his prime and continues to be an influential figure in the world of Taekwondo. 2) Master Yoon who is the grandmaster's son and the current owner of the studio was a US Taekwondo champion as well. This gave me confidence as a parent that this studio was legit. 3) The instructors and masters of the studio are very skilled. It was impressive how they could keep even the youngest students behaving and engaged in class while maintaining a warm and friendly environment. 4) The studio taught not just the physical sport of taekwondo, but also the spirit of taekwondo which is so deeply rooted in the Korean culture of respect. Parents also play an important part in submitting each student's report card on their behavior at home. 5) The studio has been around since the 90's, and the students who trained here as kids back then are still here now as student leaders and even masters. This serves as a huge role model to the younger generation. 6) The classes are divided by belt level, not age. Having two kids in different age groups, it was a huge plus that they could learn alongside each other in the same class. Sky Martial Arts has become a big part of our community the past few years. It has been rewarding to see my kids grow and work hard to advance to the next belt level each time. We also had the privilege of joining the competition team and participating in various tournaments around the Bay Area. I couldn't be more proud when my kids first got their gold and silver medals thanks to their hard work and the masters' training and support. The studio also hosts occasional workshops for the community like Women's Self-Defense class, which I have personally benefitted from. My family is extremely satisfied with Sky Martial Arts and recommend it to anyone--no matter their age--who are interested in learning martial arts. This is the perfect place to book your trial class and begin your Taekwondo journey!

You'll catch on easy of which instructors genuinely care about your growth. However, in-terms of experience & background - every instructor is absolutely legit. And I do believe it's the best gym around. During open gym hours - gym is closed 60-70% of the time which is incredibly frustrating since some people want to put in that extra work to really get better; plus paying them $180/month so I try to maximize my use of the gym itself. Not sure if it's a staffing issue but I probably have been turned away 50+ times thus far, quite frankly, it sucks. Can't have open gym hours if you're not open. Hopefully they improve at the new facility.

From day one, they made me feel welcomed, encouraged, and capable--no matter my fitness level. The coaching is top-notch: they pay attention, help with form, push you when you need it, and support you when you don't think you can keep going. The community is just as amazing. Everyone is supportive, motivating, and genuinely happy to see you succeed. This isn't just a CrossFit gym--it's a place that helps you build confidence, discipline, and a better version of yourself 100%. If you're on the fence, stop thinking and just show up. Kids talk at school and they often hear how mean other instructors are at other facilities. My boys are 9 and 10 and have been attending since 5 years old. Their self-confidence, coordination, and endurance have gone up drastically since beginning. When my little one first started out he couldn't make a full class without running to mommy for a hug or just taking a time out. Now he's fierce and I see him going far, perhaps being an instructor himself one day. Master K and the other instructors are phenomenal. They have a visible passion for the art and pass that passion down to the students. Each instructor takes the time to get know all the kids and to work with them on their strengths and weaknesses. They emphasize character building and respect for others. In addition, the facility is very clean. I can't say enough good things about Elite Taekwondo Academy, the instructors and the students here. If your looking to get your kids into martial arts, I would highly recommend Elite Taekwondo Academy.

As an adult, I'm in the teenager group since they don't have adult-only classes, but they do accept adults there. Classes include physical exercises, TKD basics (both the physical techniques and theory), character building, sparring, and forms. The regular classes maintain a medium level of physical activity. Parents can attend all classes and watch their children perform. There's also a sparring team for those who want more of a challenge - it's much more physically demanding and even includes a run at 8:30 on Sundays. Students of all ages participate, and the team attends competitions with trainers. The school focuses on both form and sparring, with a strong emphasis on safety. They don't push sparring until students feel comfortable with it, and all sparring is done in full gear. There's no head contact until students reach higher belt levels, but helmets and mouth protectors are always used. They sell uniforms and all required equipment at the school itself. They use a 3-stage system per belt color: white stripe, full color, and black stripe. Each belt has a set of clear requirements that students know, and they earn special marks on the belt as they progress, making it easy to see how prepared they are. None of the belts are given too fast and the exams are actually fair. As a result, kids have a very strong feeling of progression and that their efforts are rewarded. There's also a digital system to keep track of all requirements and a YouTube channel where teachers demonstrate the necessary skills, along with recordings of events and regular school activities. There's a strong sense of community here. Most kids have been training for years, and the same teachers have been running the school for a long time. There are a lot of girls at the school, at least a third of all students. Some of the younger black belts help with teaching, which gives them opportunities to develop further. The teachers are extremely helpful. Students with no skills join all the time - it's totally fine to show up in regular sport clothes - and they get an assigned teacher who walks them through everything during the first class or two to help them not feel left out afterward. The other students are always willing to help as well.

Seeing how much they enjoyed it inspired me to join as an adult beginner in May 2025. I was a little nervous at first, but the instructors were incredibly welcoming and supportive. The positive atmosphere they create makes it easy for students of all ages and levels to feel comfortable and motivated. Training together has become a special part of our family routine -- quality time that we all look forward to each week. The dojo is very family-friendly, and the classes teach valuable life skills in addition to martial arts. I would highly recommend All American Black Belt Academy to anyone -- whether you're looking for a program for your kids, yourself, or the whole family. It's so much more than a karate class -- it's a wonderful community that helps you grow stronger both inside and out!
