My kids love Jue's Taekwondo!! We have tried a few Taekwondo places in Pleasanton, and this one is definately our favorite. The teachers and masters are very patient and courteous. They provide a lot of resources and support for moving up to the next belt and are very flexible with their schedules.The masters guide the students at every step during the class to help them do their best. Hassel free and convenient progress tracking, announcements and Calendar schedule of events and testing on their website as well as on their App. We transitioned from once a week class to four times a week and we have noticably seen our kids' confidence levels, mindfulness and self awareness improve. Hands down the best martial arts studio in the tri-valley region! My kids have been taught by the team since 2015 and I've always had great things to say about them. Master Jue and the other instructors were exceptional to begin with and have crossed that high expectation bar in the present Covid impacted world. Jue's taekwondo added multiple online classes, outdoor (physically distanced, masks required) options, fun Friday class content, Accomplishments Build Character programs to keep kids engaged over the summer. Master Jue also adapted the program to ensure children could continue learning (with 1-1 mini lessons), online patterns and sparring competitions and testing, ensuring kids stay motivated. The Jue's taekwondo team also personally visited (masks, 6 feet distance) students and handed over new belts and certificates of achievement when the child earned their next rank. I'm amazed at how quickly and seamlessly they managed to convert what's essentially a hands on /in person experience to an online / hybrid one. I have been going to Gordon Jue's Tae Kwon Do studio since I was a senior in high school, aka 2001. I've never taken a tae kwon do class, but have been taking his kick boxing classes whenever I was in town for the past 7 or so years. Gordon's kickboxing classes are absolutely fabulous. These are an intense work out. The price is a $50 sign up fee, which gives you a set of really nice boxing gloves and wraps, and then $40/month if you do credit card for all the kickboxing classes you can drag your weary body too. Gordon's a fabulous instructor, as is his wife, Grace; there are also a bunch of other instructors who support the different classes, and they are uniformly excellent as well. This is the best, most fun, most complete work out I've ever found anywhere, and believe me I've looked. Nothing can compete! If you want to try it out, just come to a class a little early and sign a disclaimer and the class is free. There's a complete schedule on his website. He also offers tae kwon do classes for all age groups, and has separate women's classes as well. He seems to have a great following for those classes, too, I've just never done them. Update: I have bumped up my review for this business from 4-stars because Jue's Taekwon-Do's response is very professional and respectful. Most businesses respond to negative reviews with hostility - this one was professional and constructive. All the best! Original Review I signed up for Kickboxing classes at Jue's TK first week of November 2016. It was great, until the owners started transitioning their daughter into the business. Now the class has been "nerfed" to remove all the fun, kickboxing moves, replacing them with bland, aerobics. But even worse, the environment there has just become hostile. For example, I was helping out by moving a heavy bag in place for the other students, as I've done many times, when the daughter yelled, scolding me in front of the entire class for "doing it wrong." For the record, not just me but all of us have been moving heavy bags the same way for as long as I've been there, and always under the guidance of the class instructor. This may have been the first time the daugher saw any of us move a heavy bag, but I doubt it. Not sure why she blew a gasket, but it was rude and inappropriate. Recently, someone walked in and started taking photos of me while I was working out. I asked her not to take photos of me, and she gave me an annoyed look. I found out later it was the owner taking photos to for advertising. I don't appreciate when people take my photo without even asking, leastwise for commercial purposes. Owner or not, it's basic manners to ask someone before taking their photo. Instead, I was told outright that I had "offended" the owner, and that I should apologize to her by email and in person for even objecting to having my photo taken. I was even told -how- I should apologize; by saying I thought the owner "was just a kid". The one extra star is for Nicole's training program at noon. I tried not to miss even a single class by Nicole - she was that good. But the owner's daughter completely changed the program and the amazing challenging workouts were replaced by new ones - and the new workouts were less challenging for me. read more

I came here in H/S and was surprised to find out it was still in the exact same place alive and kickin now that I'm back from college! In fact, Gordon even remember my name after a 6 year break, talk about feeling welcomed home! It is still the same price as it was 6 years ago too...40 bucks a month for unlimited classes!! And for someone who avoids the gym like the plague, this is an amazing deal. I've only done the kickboxing classes but let me tell you, it kicks your F*CKING ASS!! I've been doing it again for almost a month now and I am definately seeing an improvement in my body...I have muscle tone, strength, and I can almost make it through a whole class without collapsing (hahaha). It is truly an amazing workout that will never get boring. Even if you can make it through a class without dying (i'm almost there...), you can always hit the bag harder, work on your technique, and more! Well, for a first time kickboxer, I would highly recommend heading down to Jue's Taek-won Do. Gordon conducts classes MWF at 8Pm and his classes are a drainer. He eggs you on in a non-pushy manner and corrects you incase he sees you doing something wrong and have a possibility of injuring yourself. People who come to his classes are rather dedicated too, which is always a plus. Just make sure you carry a lot of water and a towel, because you will be dripping sweat by the buckets in a matter of an hour. You could bring your own gloves or buy them here like I did. Gloves are a $50 purchases. And membership is $40 per month for unlimited classes. I highly recommend Gordon's classes. They are usually packed though because he is such a great instructor :) PS: I need to head back soon! read more

I highly recommend Jue's Taekwon-Do and kickboxing classes. I am very impressed by Master Jue, his instructors, the facility and students. My 9 year old son and i enjoy taking lessons together, and spending quality father/son time. I also enjoy the different topics and lessons each day of the week, and the schedule flexibility throughout the day. (There are classes for age groups, families, and adults.) The focus on discipline, respect and self-confidence is really positive. Master Jue's school has produced world class martial artists, including international champions. The cardio kickboxing is also a great class, and i really like the flexible schedule. (There are 3 classes a day - early morning, noon and evening) Each hour class is broken down to stretching, cardio exercises and bag work. Unlike other cardio classes, we use the punching bags for resistance training. ( it is a lot of fun to kick and punch these bags) Self defense moves are introduced, and all combined produces a great cardio workout. Great stress relief while burning those calories! read more

The kickboxing class is great! 1 full hour of exercise and conditioning. Gordon and Grace Jue are completely dedicated to their class and offer top notch services. Plus, they know most everyone by name which makes going there very familiar and comfortable. Finally, there are so many cardio kickboxing classes offered it would fit into anyone's schedule. My son takes tae kwon do at the same studio (different hours) and he really enjoys it. He's only 5 but he can follow the instruction and aspires to be as good as the other kids. This is the 2nd martial arts place that I have ever taken kick boxing at and I must say...simply Amazing workout! Classes 3 times a day and they have classes on the weekends which is hard to find. I started about 2 months ago and I absolutely love it. Go at your own pace, but push yourself. Gordon is an amazing instructor and really pushes you...I haven't taken one of Grace's classes yet, but I hear she is awesome as well. Never tried kick boxing in my life, and now I plan on doing it rigorously for a while. Gordon kicked my ass last night and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Such a fun, hard-working class, you'll want to push yourself to do better. I went here with my SIL (sis in law) and we were drenched in sweat from head to toe. Bring water and your own sparring gloves, or sing up with the studio for just $40 a month unlimited classes! You pay a one time $50 fee for gloves if you buy them there. The classes are small (about 12 people when I went last night) and at all levels so you don't feel left out. Gordon is a great instructor and encourages you to do your best without hurting yourself--too much. :) Can't wait to go back and start kickboxing more. Such a great investment in such a fun environment. I'm a runner and have tried yoga as my off running days, but kickboxing seems so much more rewarding. I went to Jue's Taekwon-do to try the kick boxing classes at night since I work in the city and cant make it to any other times. I brought two other girls with me to try it out. I HAD A BLAST! I had read the reviews, gave it a shot and couldn't have been happier. I left feeling strong, healthy, sore, and a little bit winded haha to be honest. The kickboxing class is awesome! After a long break from taekwondo, I decided it was time to get back in shape. I just started last week with my younger sister and her friend who attended when they were in HS and it's been great so far. Gordon is the best! They started offering online streaming classes and Zoom 1:1 sessions when we first started shelter in place. As the health department loosens up restrictions, they started offering in person classes outside with proper social distancing protocols and mask wearing requirements. My family and I have been going to Master Jue's Taekwon-Do classes for ~9 months now so I wanted to write up a review. Simply put, it is amazing and I have to attribute it to the dedication and devotion of not only Gordon Jue but the high ranking belts that help out every day. The flexibility of the classes compared with the monthly price far exceeds any of the other schools we had checked out. Having a 7th degree Black Belt teach the classes - along with other 1st degree to 4th degree instructors - is excellent. You are constantly learning the small details of why you do things a specific way and what occurs if you don't. It's not just a straight martial-arts workout but a learning experience at the same time. And Master Jue's dedication shines through every day - along with his sense of humor which helps! Knowing that you are at a school which has brought home Gold, Silver, and Bronze in WORLD competitions is impressive; there is no other way to say it. If you want to join a studio that will teach you not only the details of Taekwon-Do but life lessons and new friendships, do not pass this place up. An excellent place to work out. The studio is very clean, it's spacious, well lit, has a great a/c- ventilation system, the mat is fantastic and the equipment is also excellent. There are two bathrooms for dressing and several benches in front to place items while working out. The owner/operators are highly skilled in martial arts and kick boxing and they are able to tap in to those skills resulting in a very effective teaching technique for students of all levels. There are also several other instructors who incorporate their own style of teaching which enhances the opportunity for a student to improve. The atmosphere is is a combination of cordial, business like and social which provides a comfortable setting for students to continually participate. Another important thing is that there are 17 kick boxing classes each week and the monthly fee allows a student to attend as many classes as they want to. I have been attending regularly since August 2006. Bottom line is that at age 59 I still work out, I get good results and have no plans to change. read more

I used to do the kickboxing classes and it's a great workout that gives you the community feel. You're not just another number or dollar sign to them. I do not currently go to this gym anymore due to my work schedule. But I would definitely recommend them to anyone! It's affordable, great workout and they treat you like family. But to keep myself occupied I enrolled in kickboxing classes at Jue's Taekwon-Do since hubby has been a student of Master Jue's since high school. Kick boxing kicked my butt. I absolutely LOVE the kickboxing class! I try to attend the Wed & or Thurs night classes. The instructors are awesome! I originally joined so I can get in shape for my wedding this month but now I see this is a great class to stick with to maintain my figure. All of the instructors are very friendly and motivating! Kickboxing is a Great Exercise!!! I love it Definitely gets energy out

I've been doing the cardio kickboxing classes at Jue's for about 5 years (so this is waaay overdue)!! When I first started I had just moved to the bay area and hadn't worked out in a year. I'm VERY picky about my gym. I was looking for a comfortable environment with a supportive, non-judgmental, fun community. I definitely found it here (and the price is very competitive). It was the perfect place for me to get moving again and to continue challenging myself further once I was back in shape. Gordon and Grace (owners) really care and have created a special place here. Recently, they've evolved the cardio kickboxing classes to a new format they call PK Pump. It still incorporates a lot of bag work - punching and kicking - but now with circuit training in between. The circuit training includes stuff like jump roping, burpies, weight lifting, abs - things I need to be pushed to do. I have to admit though that it's making me stronger and helps me increase cardio endurance. If you're looking for a new cardio kickboxing place with a comfortable atmosphere at a competitive price, definitely check out this place. In addition to Gordon and Grace, Rose, Mia, and Nicole are all excellent instructors. They each bring their own flair to their classes, so I recommend trying each one out. read more
