What to say about Irene and the Breastfeeding and Beyond team. Well I write this on behalf of my…read morewife Amanda's experience. We had trouble from the start getting our son to latch (first time parents). We had an amazing experience working with Empowered Beginnings (Ashley & Dawn) as our duals. They recommended Irene as our lactation consultant. We didn't start with Irene right away. My wife didn't think it would be necessary. Let me tell you from watching breastfeeding is a skill that is learned. After having a rough 2 weeks trying and my wife fearing feeding due to the nipple pain we called Irene. We had a virtual "in home" lactation visit that was life changing. The details: 1. She was very accessible and accommodating with availability. 2. It was a simple FaceTime because that worked for us. 3. She was polite, pleasant, accommodating and skilled at coaching. She understood how my life listened and interpreted instruction. 4. Very Very through! Informative and had a ton of answers for things we didn't know to ask as new parents. Also mind you my wife and I read multiple books and took an online course. We weren't going in blind, but Irene's background of expertise is so through she knows what is not expected. 5. The FB community and basic child development support services set her apart 100%. Needless to say my wife went from being discouraged and not thinking she could fulfill her dream of breastfeeding for the first year to being optimistic. Now it wasn't one and done. My wife still struggled from time to time with getting the hang of it. Irene was there for follow up and continued support. If you are preparing or struggling with breastfeeding look no further. If you think you need in person her virtual service is perfect. Mom and baby are the physical team Irene is the wisdom and eyes to coach through the hurdles. Needless to say.... THANK YOU IRENE AND THE BREASTFEEDING AND BEYOND TEAM.

The pain was unbearable and I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to tolerate breast feeding. I found Patrice on google and I am so happy I scheduled an appointment. She not only provided me support for breast feeding but was able to help me recover from the NICU stay. Patrice is extremely knowledgeable and over our 3-4 visits helped me gain more confidence and understanding of how to breast feed which ultimately helped the pain resolve! She came to my house within a few days of our initial conversation and took her time to take a detailed history of our breastfeeding journey to that point. Patrice was patient and kind and listened to the problems I was having as well as my hopes for my nursing in the future. She made thoughtful recommendations and suggestions that made our time breastfeeding so much better. Patrice also let me know that she ran a free support group and encouraged me and my son to join her. I can't thank her enough for her talent, time and just her calming nature. Patrice helped me through every hurdle, big and small, and because of her, we were able to nurse for much longer than I had ever imagined.

NOT THE PLACE FOR A NEW MOM…read more This may be a great practice for someone who has a child who goes to the dr once a year for physicals and is old enough to know if they have a sore throat or if they have a headache. This place however is not a good fit for a new parent- even the calmest of them. I understand it is covid and that's been my hesitation in switching practices- I knew all offices all over were trying to adapt so I was patient. We're now a year into covid and my daughter is 9 months. She has yet to be seen for anything by them other than a physical. Everytime I have called them (which in honesty has been prob 3 occasions) for sick apts I have been referred to a walk in due to "covid precautions". our family had covid over a month ago and were all tested at a walk in and I decided to call the pedi office a couple days later when her test came back positive. I had to leave a message and received a call back a few hours later and then a call back a week later- both calls she just asked symptoms and I could hear her typing them. No contact from a dr, no paperwork or suggestions that could be mailed home, no guidance, and no reassurance from staff. I contacted them a week or so into it and said she had been pulling at her ears and was given antibiotic over the phone. 10 plus days later (were all back at work and school at this point and have been for a week) I call because the baby is now pulling at both ears and is miserable. I was told yet again to go to the walk in. The woman on the phone kept interrupting me and correcting me mixing up a call we had in dec when she started teething and was touching her ears with the last month of ear pulling. The woman I spoke with made statements like "well generally when an antibiotic doesn't work a parent calls us within 48 hours to let us know" first- she has a great attitude and we just had covid so I practiced patience and second she's been on a new antibiotic that the walk in told me I wouldn't see a turn around until about 3 days in- the way the woman kept phrasing things was "well generally a parent does this" Generally a child can be seen by a dr in an office with compassion but this is 2021 and covid. There's no need to shift blame onto the parent. ESP because I didn't start to loose my patience with this practice until this last week or 2. This story goes on and on but I recieved a release from this office in the mail today and according to the date the postage is stamped the office wasted no time in cancelling her future apts and closing out her chart while referring us to a walk in. Sorry but when I call you on a Monday and I have the release in my hand with a postage date of Tuesday- you still have no clue what is wrong with my daughter and haven't followed up with me re:the walk in visit but you sure were able to get the paperwork out quick to close out a chart. Seems like there's a lot of excuses to not have to adapt in this office. Skip over this place if you want good medical care with a dr who cares.

The office staff is very rude and completely unhelpful. The whole practice is very unorganized and…read moredo not follow through. I will be leaving this practice due to the poor management.... this time it was the straw that broke the camel's back.

From identifying oral ties, breastfeeding, bottle challenges, pumping, general discomfort - Susan has been our go to for many concerns. After birth, I received a lot of conflicting information and guidance from various lactation consultants at the hospital - the first time I met with Susan she immediately streamlined all the mixed messages I had received and drastically simplified what I was doing so I could stress less and enjoy my baby more. Thanks to Susan I was able to breastfeed my first for two years! And beyond breastfeeding, thanks to her we were able to address issues that may have impacted my son later in life. For my second baby, I decided to book a prenatal appointment with Susan. I went into the hospital feeling confident, prepared and smarter about how I wanted my feeding journey to look. I'm so glad I did this because it couldn't have been more different than my first. Make the appointment - It is with full confidence that I recommend Susan!

I had come to her a broken and struggling mother who's baby was destroying me mentally and physically. She reassured me that my daughter was indeed tongue tied, and that it needed revision before I would be able to be successful, even when everyone else told be she was fine. She introduced me to pace bottle feeding, and pumping to increase and persevere my supply in the meantime. Once my daughters tongue tie was fixed and my body healed Susan was then able to teach me to latch her and we continued to breastfeed over a year. Her love and support was invaluable to me. Her support groups connected me with friends whom three years later are still part of my circle. Anyone who is struggling with breastfeeding or just looking for more support look no further than Susan. I am now pregnant with my second child and I will be making appointments as soon as he is here! Thank you again Susan for all you have done for me and my family.

We've had plenty of first time parent concerns and he's tackled them all super timely and with a way of explaining things that calms us and gives us more confidence every time. And we were amazed with Katie, the Lactation Consultant. she has decades of experience, she CHANGED our world!! we brought in our 5 day old baby and she completely turned me around with her knowledge base. I brought him in with me and nursed him with her help so that she could observe. She reframed so much of what the hospital told me generically and tailored it to me and our son based on how and what she saw. and she was spot on! he was happier, less frustrated and trusted me to read his cues correctly and get what he needed. it was an instant fix, I can't get enough of her!! She makes herself available by phone too if tou can't make it to her in person. She and Dr. Stephen are in this with you every step, honestly we couldn't have asked for more caring human beings to help guide us.
