The chili was a good temperature. Not too hot, it wasn't nuked. The seasoning is great and thick, the way chili should be. I've spent time on the deck, in the dining room and in the tap room. The service has been excellent. The staff is pleasant, attentive and know the menu as well as their jobs. The decor is continuing to be updated and there are new tables, new paint and new decor. I really hope the word get out about this great dining, snacking, golfing experience. I'll follow up again this coming summer. I can't wait to see you again.

Greens looked nice, but a little bumpy and soft and definitely the "volcano" that forms around the hole at the end of the day. Pace of play was a little frustrating, due mainly to one of those horrible foresomes that don't care about anyone else: I skipped hole 8 and never dealt with them again. Carts in at 7 wouldn't have been an issue except for the slower play, but arranged to have wife return cart and walked last three holes. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Many hill and valleys very very exhausting, and towards the end you cant even swing anymore. They explain the situation and maybe provide a discounted green fee like most of the courses. Just like The Links last year they got flooded they let us know before hand, we only payed a 9-hole fee to play the back nine. The front nine there was only 5 holes open, they let us choose either play back nine twice or play the open 5 from the front twice to get 18 holes in. Awsome service. Rainmakers the course is awsome but this time it was not the case, then the staff is rude makes it even worse. Their answer to us expressing our concerns (not asking for a discount btw)... "If you don't like don't come play here". We played Inn of the Mountain Gods the next day, way better. The gentleman at the proshop mentioned that most people were complaining of Rainmakers.

Worse cart path I have ever seen. There are so many tree trunks making a nauseating ride. One of the holes had no flag. Greens are pathetic. Sand traps? No sand anywhere. The fairways were a mixture of multiple types of grass (including crabgrass) with weeds and bare patches. Even in the fairway, bad shots from bad lies was the rule. Mowing appeared to be a random event, as some fairways were 3 inches long The only yardage markings were posts at 150 yards. Some tees were also unmown. I played on a Thursday, so don't know why. The greens were a disaster. Many bare patches, uneven, poorly mown and maintained. Some were the quality of temporary greens and long grass with crabgrass. I was very frustrated when I finished the round, and would never return unless I knew things had changed. This course needs some serious money put into it or it will fail. Yes I know there is an issue with elk and wild horses roaming the course at night, but the adjacent course had the same issues, charges about $30-50 more a round, and is in another universe as far as quality. I wish I could have played this course when it was actually maintained.

Golf cart was constantly dinging loudly with offers for food or other upsells. The experience: Played 18 holes on the Mesa/Lakes course. Seemed nice, good availability, cart and practice area were included, practice balls were higher than average quality practice greens matched course conditions on most of the holes. Played in a foursome, started on time but the group behind was waiting on the tee when we started. We let them pass us but suddenly we were 15 minutes behind according to the cart. We keep track of our play and we were well within the 12 min per hole average. At the turn we were given a choice to play on the Arroyo versus the Lakes course as they pro said it was less crowded. We enjoyed Arroyo but were baffled as to the reason Mesa/Lakes was overbooked with a pushy marshal instead of spreading out play on all three courses. The course has all the ingredients of a great resort course but is being managed like a racetrack.

I just get the sense that this place is falling apart, customer service feels like they are just putting up with you but really don't want your business. I won't be coming back anytime soon, and I only live 7 minutes from it. I would rather drive to Albuquerque and play a muni.
