The Course is in terrible shape, and the administration is just plain rude. Its a very difficult course and since its very dry is cart path only. Many hill and valleys very very exhausting, and towards the end you cant even swing anymore. They explain the situation and maybe provide a discounted green fee like most of the courses. Just like The Links last year they got flooded they let us know before hand, we only payed a 9-hole fee to play the back nine. The front nine there was only 5 holes open, they let us choose either play back nine twice or play the open 5 from the front twice to get 18 holes in. Awsome service. Rainmakers the course is awsome but this time it was not the case, then the staff is rude makes it even worse. Their answer to us expressing our concerns (not asking for a discount btw)... "If you don't like don't come play here". We played Inn of the Mountain Gods the next day, way better. The gentleman at the proshop mentioned that most people were complaining of Rainmakers. read more

This may be one of the best meals ever! Started with the ceviche, then calamari and for a main course, a grouper. All was excellent! We have had not so good experiences with calamari..chewy, overcooked. There's was tender and perf. Grouper came with rice, charred tomatoes and a charred corn that was incredibly. Christian who served was impeccable...the chef, Michon..you just have to experience to understand how incredible the food and his attention to detail..so good! read more

We have been really enjoying eating at Rainmakers! Tonight we had the special appetizer Thai lettuce wraps, the bang-bang shrimp, the special Brisket, the ribeye and the special dessert brownie and a blondie. The brisket is perfectly cooked and so tender! It comes w a potato latke which is delicious. The steak was ordered medium and it was fantastic, tender and flavorful. The sides we ordered were the scalloped potatoes and sautéed mushrooms - loved the potatoes but the mushrooms were not my fave. The Thai lettuce wraps were amazing!! Bang-bang shrimp are spicy but so yummy! The desserts are decadent and warm! We had one of each because we like both but did not want them combined. The brownie is a dark chocolate and goes well w the vanilla gelato; the blondie is buttery gooey goodness w cinnamon and also pairs well w the vanilla gelato. Our server tonight was friendly and thoughtful, always filling up our tea and checking on us at the best times. The sunset out the windows was beautiful and the restaurant is lovely inside and out. On May 9th we tried the wagyu short rib and shrimp pasta w pork lettuce wraps and the cobbler for dessert. All I can say is it was all wonderful and I really hope Chef does the beef rib again!!! Superb!!!! My son and I played golf here 6/12/21, and was highly impressed, especially from the debacle and horrible greens the day before at The Inn of The Mountain Gods (see my review)! From the superb staff, especially Rocky, Leonard and Sharon, to the course, thank you! We had such a great time, met new people and loved every minute of it! We played so well, shot 79 and my son 83, who by the way, also had his first hole in one on #11!!!!!! We loved it and appreciate so much from the staff, great experience! I've played there July 5 and again today July 7 five stars from the time you call the place to make a reservation to the time you get to the front desk and pay to the time you get to the starter into the time you get to the first tee and finish the 18th green . If you ever Visit Rodolfo New Mexico you must play the rainmaker tees are perfect greens are even better Mark to perfection all the rocks of the arrows going the right way all of the cart paths are re-done in asphalt you never get lost you always know where to go . And besides on hole number 16 when I chipped up to within 18 inches of the whole who gets a standing ovation him two of the grounds crew what a top-notch place no wonder it's ranked number 32 in the country. Called twice yesterday.....no one answered. Left a message 2nd time because their message said they would call back. They didn't. Drove over today and there was a gate. Called again and they rudely said they were "sold out". First time I've ever heard the term "sold out" related to golf and they really couldn't work in a single.....come on. They'll be begging for people to play within a few years. For all they know, I could be a prospective member worth millions......but they couldn't even be respectful and courteous. read more

I read some reviews on other sites criticizing this course for being too difficult. Yes, it's a tough course. It kicked my butt and I loved every minute of it. If you're the type that shoots in the 70's on your home course and then when confronted with a real course pitches a fit and throws clubs, then this course probably isn't for you. But if you don't take yourself too seriously and like a little challenge, then you're in for a treat. This course is definitely beatable if you know where to hit your shots and know the greens. You won't know that your first few rounds. But it's still an awesome golf course and absolutely beautiful. Check your ego at the door and go play an amazing golf course. read more

This Trent Jones course has got to be one of his best designs. Wonderful atmosphere, dramatic mountain views. Make sure to visit the dining room as the food is sure to please any palate. Truly a special place! read more

I play here many many times a year and it Keeps getting better in every way. The club house is amazing and staff Is great with really good food! The golf is unreal you won't be upset unless you run out of balls before your round is over with. I really can't say enough how TOP KNOTCH this place is from start to finish. This course is an amazing golf course that is not for the faint of heart. Played this in September, greens were running 12 on the stimpmeter and that's being real - not country club....bar none the best golf course in the area within 100 miles and that's being conservative. Robert Trent Jones II design. Tough but fun. Hit an iron on the 3rd hole (par 3) and banked it off the rocks on the right within 6' of the flag....completely unintentional mind you, but I did it and hey, if it's within 10' who cares how it got there, never mind that I spazzed the birdie putt and parred it. Beautiful, quiet, deer quietly observing....tough, challenging, 7,110 from the tips and at 7,000' Alt. AMAZING! AMAZING VIEWS. Some creative tee boxes. The staff is very friendly and helpful and ready to assist you for whatever you may need. Do not miss this course! FYI that odd building on the right coming into the course, is the Spencer Theater - class A design theater, yup, in the middle of no and where. read more
