Everyone is friendly, meaning sellers as well as other shoppers, and if it's not necessarily the most amazing selection I've seen, it's always a good variety and reliable. The part I will miss most though is that it's one of the city's dropoff sites for food waste/compost. I'm going to have to make an extra trek in the winter to Dupont Circle for that. Since moving back to the area, the return of this farmer's market next spring might actually be the first thing I've had to look forward to.

The market is located in the parking lot right in front of the Arlington courthouse. There were over 50 vendors presenting appealing empanadas, cheeses, produce, mushrooms, pickles, teas, donuts, pork, coffee, cakes, juices, Dutch Stroopwaffles, oil, gelato, fish ... Fresh this week are leeks, asparagus, Brussels Sprouts, kohlrabi & rhubarb. The samples were better than I expected: a bite of the fresh crabcake wasn't what I'm used to and the warm homemade Dutch Stroopwafel was even better than the ones I tried in Amsterdam I'm impressed that the vendors accept SNAP/EBT, WIC & Senior FMNP checks. Fresh Match provides a dollar to dollar match on all federal benefits spent at this market. Shoppers are buying twice as much fresh produce & nutritious foods.

To be so small, it is packed with lots of good finds. Plenty of samples to goo around too...well sorta...COVID has kinda shut that down these days. At this market, you will find a full variety of conventional and certified organic fruits and vegetables, pasture-raised meat, poultry and eggs, artisan sweet and savory baked goods, fresh milk, butter, yogurt, goat/cow cheeses, fermented foods and pickles, jams, jellies and sauces, flowers, plants, handmade soaps, and more! You name it, this market has it all. One additional note to know...."It's a year-round" market! Unlike most farmer's markets in the area, where you are limited to summer-only and seasonal openings. The market is open only on Saturday mornings between the hours of 9am-1pm. Parking is available on the streets for free and parking meters are free as well on weekend. And, if it helps...all vendors accepts SNAP/Food Stamps and WIC. In all, lot's of great finds and a great way to connect with local farmers in/around the DC metropolitan area. It is definitely worth a visit. It's the perfect place to spend part of your Saturday morning on a nice day...and on the cheap.

I can't count on how many fingers and toes I've had the pizza at different farmer's markets! While the lines can get long 12:30pm, you only have to wait for 15 minutes. Taco Dirty To Me: Crispy battered cauliflower tempura tacos, bursting with flavor! Bun'd' Up - Delicious fried tofu and mushroom in squishy soft bao buns topped with microgreens, scallions, and a nice creamy aioli sauce. Light and tasty! Urban+ade - Refreshing lemonade with less sugar than classic lemonade. The Sage & Tarragon is my favorite! Veg Heaven - Decadent sweet treats, the dark chocolate cookies and brownies are the best! While the cakes are moist, they aren't as tasty. Taco Loco - Giant burritos are amazing! There's a swarm of people waiting in line, so be prepared to wait 10-15 min before ordering and then another 5 min for your order! The mango and watermelon juice are refreshing. Hipp Sippin' - Cold-pressed juices and acai bowls made to order. Ravenhook Bakery - Great selection of freshly baked loaves of bread and baked goods. DMV Empanadas - They sell out fast! While the empanadas has a nice crispy hard shell and with so many flavors to choose from, they are a bit bland and overloaded with bland cheese. Also affordable! 3. Fish tacos from the famous seafood spot. These were sadly my least favorite item on our little food tour, the slaw was overpowering but if removed the pan seared fish was flavorless. 4. Wrapped up with some matcha and iced coffee - can't go wrong with those. Enjoyed browsing the little artisan stalls as well. An amazing stop on my trip to DC!
