Another one of these pretty small farmers markets you could visit should you only need a few…read morethings. Certainly does not carry everything, like Dupont, but offers some produce, mushrooms, juices and other drinks, fermented foods, plants and flowers etc. My pictures captured a few of the stalls while also attempting to show the length of the market. This market is a bit paired down with a dozen or so vendors compared to the 15-20 vendors pre-pandemic, there's still an impressive selection of diverse vendors. So glad this wonderful market survived the pandemic and back in full swing! Here's the latest and greatest vendor list in 2025: - Timber Pizza: Delicious pizza! Cheese Please is my favorite followed by Green Monster. I can't count on how many fingers and toes I've had the pizza at different farmer's markets! While the lines can get long 12:30pm, you only have to wait for 15 minutes. - Bun'd' Up (5/5): Delicious fried tofu and mushroom in squishy soft bao buns topped with microgreens, scallions, and a nice creamy aioli sauce. Light and tasty! - Taco Dirty To Me: Crispy battered cauliflower tempura tacos! - Taco Loco : Ginormous hearty burritos and refreshing Sandia watermelon juice! The ginormous burritos are very filling and leave you in a delightful food coma! - Cocoi's Bakery - Unique Asian inspired cookies and donuts. While the Pandan brioche donut with a little creamy filling was fun to try, the Matcha Marshmallow cookie with white chocolate chips hit the spot! The cookie was a bit dense, but quite flavorful. The Ube Chocolate Chip Cookie with purple swirls didn't have much Ube flavor and the cookie was under baked. Lemonade Love - Refreshing lemonade, the Lavender is less sweet. - Little Austria: Strudel galore over a dozen apple and berry fruity varieties. The Apple Strudel is delicious and taste like apple pie without the processed sugary sweetness. The Spinach and Feta strudel was fun to try! - Capitol Kettle Corn: Fresh kettle corn made on the spot. Fun flavors that really pop - Spicy Chocolate, Honey Butter, Cheddar, etc. Plenty of unique flavors to sample from. The bags are perfect for sharing in the office! - Al Volo Cucina: The eggplant parm sub is large and filling, the fresh bottomless watermelon juice is refreshing! Wonderful market with plenty of delicious and diverse options to choose from. Lines start to form between 12:30-1pm, so come early!

Normally, we would have chatted with each vendor to learn about their produce or recipes. I would have greeted dogs and lingered around the canopies while looking over products. Since Covid has impacted our lives, the farmer's market experience was different. We wore masks and arrived early. I didn't want to be in a large crowd. My "socializing" these past few months has been with cashiers and chatting with the neighbor through the window. The staff and Mt. Vernon employees did a great job of roping off the area and placing signage explaining the rules. Duct tape was used to mark off six feet distance in the lines. There was only a handful of vendors. The produce looked great. It was priced slightly higher than the grocery store. The herbs were hubby's top choice. The vegetables were beautiful. The home made apple butter and apple sauce from Black Rock Orchard ($6 ea. or 2/$10) was worth the trip. The staff celebrated opening weekend by handing out facemasks. Most of the attendees were respectful of social distancing. Dogs were not allowed in the market area. It was a beautiful day. I was happy to enjoy the sunshine. I suggest making a reservation on Open Table and ordering online. The web site lists merchants and products for each location in the District. Orders must be completed by Friday. You need to wait in line to enter the market, but you can pick up your order and leave. Reservations aren't mandatory. It just makes your visit shorter. If you don't want to attend, some businesses will waive a delivery fee with minimum orders. Many years ago, my uncle used to visit each office on Capitol Hill, selling produce to staff members. Local farms need our business. I hope this farmer's market continues to expand.

It seems as if the only explanation for this was the rainy day on which we visited and catching the market on a slow day- at least we hoped this was the reason for the market being so sparse and empty - not many visitors at all (practically empty really). Safe to say, we will not be making another trek out here, at least not for this farmer's market specifically.

We love all the prints and Asian decor in particular but the modern artist is cool and the glassware and "trinkets" are fabulous! We have bought a number of items over the past 6 months or so. There are ornaments, alpaca woven clothes, local chocolates, and all kinds of arts. The service was attentive. We loved the cheese stand where they allowed us to basically try all of the cheese on sale. We bought several. It was expensive but enjoyed the experience and certainly we love cheese. The market is pretty small, but we still enjoyed our time there. And walked over to the Starbucks, Kramers Bookstore and the many shops nearby. I took my kids to several more stores and they loved it.

I wish there was a little bit more specificity when it comes to the selection of vendors, especially ones with more of a variety of price ranges. I think its accurate to say a decent gift range starts at $30. Since its an annual event it attracts a lot of folks from DC, I'm glad in 2025 they have just opted for a nearby street that is much wider so there can be a little bit more circulation happening, but its still incredibly crowded. Truly rotten experience: -Tour sent into a war zone…read more -No information from NatGeo sent to customers -Empty promises of "we are watching the situation" -Tour cancelled too late while enroute even as the entire American naval armada is present in the Gulf -No help in securing emergency evacuation -No one on return to US compensating customers for cancelled tour -Frequent phone calls to secure refund status turned away with "a VP is now looking into the situation" -Truly a pathetic organization: disempowered customer service; runarounds on refunds; failure to safeguard customers when war is obviously about to break. NatGeo is the used car lot of the tour industry and a scummy bottom of the barrel set of ethics.

It felt like we were in a kindergarten class field trip. Every single minute of the trip was scripted and chaperoned. The "excursions" primarily took us to areas we could have easily gotten to by land had we planned the trip on our own (with maybe one exception). Every hike was actually a nature stroll and you were required to stay with a group including their guides the entire time. The "highlight" of the trip was supposed to be hiking to waterfalls...that turned out to be three hours on a tour bus to a hotel that marketed mediocre waterfalls. Even on the hotel grounds we were required to stay with a group and tour guides all day. The zip lining in the hotel property was incredible, but something we could have easily done without going through National Geographic. Every night there was a mandatory briefing in the lounge before dinner which interrupted the sunset views. We skipped the briefing one night to watch the sunset and see a huge pod of dolphins, the cruise director came out on the deck and made everyone come inside. Based on the advertisement, we were not expecting a luxury cruise and were ok with in order to experience a true expedition. Since that wasn't the case, we were disappointed by the lack of activities on the ship...no TV in the room, no pool, hot tub, etc., just a few board games. Again, this would have been fine if the adventures made up for it. I will say that the food was incredible and the hospitality crew was fantastic.
