It's a pretty decent place for Chinese takeout food. I've gotten food from here several times. The sweet and sour chicken with rice and egg roll was good. They're a little thrifty when it comes to duck sauce and condiments. They accept credit cards but seem to prefer cash. On the occasions I've been there, they had a hard time understanding me because they didn't speak English very well. I recently ordered delivery from here because my usual place was closed. But I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered beef with broccoli and fried rice and my boyfriend ordered the General chicken. The beef was very flavorful and tender and the vegetables were extremely fresh and still bright and a bit crunchy. I was thrilled they weren't the overcooked pieces of broccoli I normally find when I order beef and broccoli. The chicken wasn't cloyingly sweet like at other establishments, it had a garlicky flavor and a bit of heat which we both liked. I'd say overall it was pretty decent delivery and that everything we ordered was fresh. I'll try it out again to see if they are consistent. read more

I've eaten here only twice and I would say they are better than many other surrounding Chinese spots. The quality and price is worth it. Delivery is also quick. They are also very clean, the small dining area is spotless and you can see the cooking area which is well kept as well. Fried foods are crispy and not greasy/soggy like other places and their sesame ck was flavored well. I have been going to New Peking for about 20 years. They have the BEST broccoli and chicken. And I have tasted and tested other broccoli and chic at various restaurants. I keep going back to them. Tasty, fresh, broccoli not soggy and a good amount of meat. Their mooshi pork (chicken ir shrimp) is excellent as well. I've been coming here since I was a kid. My family would come when it was the old location and sit in the back room with the large round table. It's since moved but the food is the same. The staff is super friendly. The food is made to order so don't expect to get it quickly. Everything is fresh. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are huge. I go there for take out sometimes and get the general tso chicken combination. It's nine dollars and huge. I ate it for three days. This place is the spot. It's been a North prov staple for couple of years and I don't see that changing anytime soon. When you go in you are attended too right away. Every thing you get is made made fresh and they have the best General Tso chicken it's hot and crispy and juicy all at once and they can increase the spice level of you ask them too. The woman at the counter yelled at a salesperson while I was waiting...mildly entertaining. "We don't want any, we don't want any..." Just repeating that line over and over...then afterwards made awkward smalltalk with me. Asked for my dish spicy and it ended up a weird sort of sweet teriyaki flavor. I don't quite know what was in the soup I ordered and the broth was a shade of bright yellow that disturbed me so much I couldn't eat it. Won't be going back there. read more

My boyfriend has been a very loyal customer for quite a few years now and recommended we give it a try. We used the online ordering system to place our order and pay for it to be delivered. After 1.5 HOURS, still no Chinese.... So we call. The man on the phone tells us they're not doing delivery today and that "the order didn't go through", but we can place a new order for pick up. This is the worst chinese restaurant I've ever ordered from. Sadly, they have great food but they're awful with accuracy and customer service. I have ordered frequently but after tonight that will be the last time I ever give them my business. I draw the line when someone in a business has the audacity to say "are you stupid, can't read?" Their menu stated something specific that is why I ordered it via online,upon receiving my order I didn't get what I ordered. When brought up to them, the man started getting belligerent saying I ordered this. When I told him I know what I ordered, that's when he said "are you stupid, can't read?" I told him I'm not illiterate but thanks for thinking so. I then told him that I'd bring the food back. He goes, "you call the cops, you do whatever." For starters, nobody in their right minds going to call the police for a take out order......that's probably the most hysterical thing I've ever heard someone say in the fast food industry. He continued calling me stupid in which I told him that I have the conversation recorded(which I did start recording once I was called stupid the first time. ) He hung the phone up right after being told. As far as typical Asian restaurants go, this place is good. Nothing spectacular, it's ALMOST the same old super non Asian, sugared up American version of Chinese food but it does it well. Not like other places where the fried foods are a bit dark because the oils being reused or meats are super tough but no ones really sure why. They do one thing and that's serving this part of RI a good & clean dose of sugared up, totally not Chinese but we still call it Chinese food lol. Now, English is not their main language so if by any chance you have a "awkward moment" or misunderstanding, cut them some slack. Where they lack in speaking fluent and meticulous English, they make up with their respect. They talk directly to you and have an actual conversation unlike many other American-Chinese restaurants where they could care less about small talk and just want you to blurt out the order as quickly as possible and keep it moving. I usually don't leave reviews for places like this, they're usually all the same but what prompted me to leave a review for them was that I noticed that this really is a family owned business, they were VERY respectful and their presentation of what they served when we did actually dine in deserved it. Let's be honest, pay those prices at the place down the street or the other local American-Chinese restaurants and YOU let us know how nice that presentation really is. Ive tried many Asian-American restaurants of this caliber and I can't say the presentation was anything remotely close to what I got here. This had some soul in it, something only a person that cares would bother to do. Truth is, they didn't have to pay much mind to presentation because every other place has put the bar so low when it comes to this type of cuisine that it's just expected. This is my go-to Chinese in North Providence. I am not a fan of the Jacky type Chinese and am more a fan of American Fair like Cathay Garden in East Greenwich, The Islander, Han Palace, Chens etc... This place is NOT this type of food. It is like NYC chinese food quick, fresh, and pretty consistent. The dumplings are pretty good and the wonton soup is also that typical style.
