I didn't even know we needed a new roof. Lance from NewRuf happened to be in the neighborhood, took a peek at the roof from the ground and asked me if I'd be interested in him inspecting it since he noticed some weather-related damage. I was skeptical at first, sat on it for more than a month, but decided to take him up on the offer only after a second lengthy conversation about the process. He was on the roof within a couple of days and discovered greater-than-anticipated damage due to hail and high winds. It looked like we might be able to file an insurance claim. We did within a day or two. Lance did most of, if not all, the talking which was great since I don't have enough technical knowledge to have been able to pull it off myself. Within fewer than two weeks the claim was approved by the adjuster, but it didn't include all the items that needed to be dealt with. Lance came to the rescue with an adjusted proposal and a compelling case to argue for the modifications. Two weeks later the proposal was approved by the adjuster, and we were off to the races. Races at a slower pace due to Covid19 since supplies were running low, and the roofing crews were booked solid. Lance made sure we got our shingle delivered as quickly as humanly possible under the circumstances, and that the crew would show up at a time that was convenient for us. The job was knocked off in one long day, and we couldn't be happier. The cleanup was perfect as well. None of this would've happened without Lance. He was super friendly, extraordinarily helpful and paid attention to every detail of the job, not to mention his thoughtful guidance through every single step of the process from start to finish. His absolute insistence on 200%+ usurious profit (my guess is to take my client to the cleaners to make up for the smaller profit you took battling the insurance company) while threatening lawsuits for even hinting at asking to be released from a contract that you had not even begun work on, and complete refusal to discuss the job to make it a win-win for my client, left her scared and unhappy. You had an opportunity to make 50% more PURE PROFIT, and add a HAPPY client to your roster who would've probably yelped highly about you. Instead, Justin, and whoever (fails to) answers your primary email address, completely dropped the ball. YOU should be as frustrated with Justin as I am; he lost you more income, profit, and community good will. Sure, this is just one experience, but it's real and valid. I hope you have learned a lesson, and will never treat a client like I was treated ever again. You lost my trust after Justin threatened and harassed me while my FOUR email messages went completely unanswered and ignored. At this point, there's nothing either of us can do to make OUR relationship better, other than to wish each other a good day and move on. TLDR pros and cons Pros- work was good. Helped with insurance company. Cons- poor communication and it took almost 11 months to complete. Disorganized work scheduling. K so I'll going to start with the good. Good is, the Ruf. Work is perfectly fine. Crew was good. When they started the roof it was done that day. They did a good job with the insurance people. When I did talk to someone they were polite and courteous and quite knowledgeable/ professional. Now the bad. I first contacted Newruf in January of 2022. I had countless phone calls with them off an on for the next 10 months. ​ The materials were delivered in September 2022. My roof was completed at the end of October 2022. That's almost 11 months. During that time I did speak with them about the price and the wait time. I was told over text message that they'd knock 300 off the bill when a sudden cost popped up. When I got the invoice, they had not taken it off. There were several days where they were supposed to show up but didn't and I had changed my schedule around for them. That's understandable, things happen. After a long gap in communication, they finally did contact me and say that they needed a check for xxx more money. I had to put my foot down and tell them that "at this point I'd be a fool to give yall more money after I've been waiting for this long and already gave you a check for 13k." In total the bill was just under 20k. And other houses in the area had started and completed while I was still waiting. Update: they contacted me the day this review was posted and made things right. As a new homeowner, we had not experienced any issues with roofing before, so when we had wind damage and hailstorm on the roof of our home, NewRuf made our roof replacement, though daunting because of our experience with the insurance company, such a reveling process. Our claims were denied again and again, but with the assistance of our initial contractor Kent and the insurance adjuster JP, our roof got approved. He assisted us through the process in filing a claim and ensuring that every detail was not missed in the process, assisting in the limited capacity that the law permits him. After the crazy freeze in February 2021 in TX we noticed some roof damage, but luckily no leakage. The guys at NewRuf are Great! Dan was the project manager for my house and I was really impressed with how well he stayed on top of things. From the start when Ashley showed up at my door and asked to set an appointment for them to inspect my roof, they took care of everything. They contacted my insurance company and worked out all the details. We have a large roof that is also very steep. Their guys knocked out the entire job in 2 days! They even found places where we had hail damage on our gutters and they got our insurance company to replace the gutters also. After the job was complete, Dan walked with me around the property to inspect and make sure I was happy with the work. He noticed a couple of my solar yard lights had been damaged and he went and purchased replacements for me! NewRuf has provided first class service at a good price. We contacted NewRuf originally for them to look at our roof because our roof was reaching the life expectancy and it needed to be replaced. We wanted to get an estimate of what the cost would look like for roof replacement. We also needed an interior wall to be fixed and had plans to use another contractor. Turns out, our roof and wall fell under our homeowner's insurance and we didn't have to pay the full cost of both projects. Of course, we were responsible for the deductible and upgrades. Unfortunately I just can say the true, no stars at all. They appear to be good sons of God, they have bible's quotes and old sayings in their office, smiling to the camera and all that, but what happens when they forget they are God's creatures and attempt against your person? Specially Spencer, he plays dirty hiding information, betraying your trust, vandalizing your roof, then the owner makes threatening phone calls, then the lawyers start doing their part.
