Was a little taken aback when I walked into the strip mall bistro and was struck by the wedding/tea room decor while in my shorts and tee shirt. I wasn't the only as I watched other patrons who clearly were trying New Season our for the first time. But I quickly got over it as the cafe started filling up for a typical 1960 lunch crowd. We each ordered the Cobb or chef salads and ice tea. Tea was fresh and excellent with a lime wedge. And the salads also fresh, nicely prepared and well presented. Solid wait staff. The cafe lost a star when the Cobb salad was advertised to include Avocado but alas the salads arrived with none. And that is why we ordered it. read more

Things New Season could have done to keep our business: 1. Accurately describe the delay until the buffet would be ready. 2. Allow us to serve ourselves from the food which was ready and waiting on the buffet while they completed the remaining items. 3. Train its staff to know what teas they are offering from their largely unlabeled box (green tea was labeled. Nothing else is). 4. Inform us when the delay for the buffet would be twice what they told us. 5. Send any of the largely idle waitstaff to let us know about further delays. Things New Seasons did do: 1. Tell us the buffet was ready in the parking lot after we dropped cash on the table and walked out. Also with no apology. Houston is a great food town with many great restaurants. There's little reason to waste your money here. read more

Update 2020 - Sad after many years of supporting New Season and referring business to them year after year, that when my big day came I was ready to use them. BUT after putting a deposit down to secure my date and finding out that they only provide disposable dishes and utensils or I would have to rent real ones at an extra fee I asked politely to back out. I told them I would compensate for the expense of doing a site visit, but I was denied anything else in return. My date was 8 months away and now with all the COVID going on I wondered what would happen and it just makes me more upset how a long time vendor could be so quick to burn that bridge. read more

This is the true definition of a hidden gem. The place is somewhat small inside & nicely decorated, the service is top notch. You can tell they are a catering company because there is so much attention to detail. The presentation of the food is just lovely and everything was scrumptious. I say its "hidden" because it is in a small non-de script strip center that I have driven by for years. If not for Yelp, I never would have discovered it. Sunday Brunch 10-2pm $18pp. So good. The food was excellent, 4 stars only because we didn't seem to have wait staff assigned to us. Tables around us cleared and tea refreshed while we waited or flagged for assistance. I love brunch; a reasonably priced restaurant in the area is long overdue. The fresh fruit selection was colorful and very fresh. At least 6 types of breakfast muffins/pastries, eggs Benedict, scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage patties, and I grits. Boiled shrimp on ice, pasta salad, chicken picata, beef tips, sliced ham, rice were items in the lunch area. Half a dozen dessert selections. Cold food was cold, hot food was hot. Everything was well seasoned and attractively presented. Dress was casual, with many appearing in church clothes. Large groups welcome based on a birthday party going on. Several families with children and at least one baby. Dining area is clean, well lighted, tastefully decorated with brick rear wall to give feel of an older building. Cloth table covers and napkins, chairs are pretty, appear new, very pretty gold color with black fabric seats. Coffee, extra dishes, and cash register tucked into large open butler's pantry in back. Staff attired in dress shirts and slacks. A nice jazz sax played throughout the morning. This is a very nice stand alone restaurant we plan to support with our return business. It is so nice to have it in the neighborhood. We understand Tuesday nights a fried chicken buffet is available and catfish on Thursdays. Check it out soon. read more

I had heard great things about this place and was very much looking forward to Easter Brunch. I could not have been more disappointed. Many of the typical brunch dishes were well prepared but were boring and unimaginative. The heart of palm and artichoke heart salad was probably the best thing on the buffet. The pesto salmon was hammered so hard that I was expecting the food police to show up and haul off the cook in chains. Everything else was completely forgettable, including the frozen, grocery store quality desserts that were not completely thawed out. What was not forgettable was the horrible service. We could not get anyone's attention and we never did see the coffee and tea we repeatedly asked for. It took forever to get the check and even longer to get the receipt to sign. All-in-all, it was an overpriced fiasco. Oh yea, they also sat us at a dirty table that had not yet been cleaned or set, but that was the least of their problems... read more

I have used them for catering previously. I had a group meeting for about 50 women. The menu selections were very nice and the price was well worth it (but, surprisingly reasonable). Waited 30 minutes to order food, then another one hour and 30 minutes with no food in sight at our table of 10, few other tables came later than us, already ate and left, they claimed it was short of stuff, but at least should give us warnings, we made reservation more than a week ago, they knew we were coming. I couldn't say that food was good or bad, I didn't want my food after all the waiting. They did offer complementary food for all, and free desert if anyone liked. But it was little too late after the complaining. I think someone forgot our orders or someone forgot cooking, sandwiches weren't hard to put together, needed hour and half? I wish I could comment on the quality of their food but I never even got that far. I was in search of a caterer and filled out their online quote submission form and waited to hear back. They reached out promptly and I asked if they had pricing for their catering menu. I was told I needed to give them my budget before they could reasonably quote me a price. My experience with caterers has always been that they have a designated price for menu items/serving size and from there you're able to decide what will work with your budget. I proceeded to give them a budget on the lower end of the scale because I was concerned without knowing their base prices that they would try and raise menu costs and I'd be none the wiser (as this has happened in this past). They told me they would "consider my offer" as if my budget wasn't worthy of their services. To say the least I have yet to receive a response. Had they approached the conversation differently, they would have easily been informed that my budget was 3 times what I had indicated. If you have a 'low' budget (being $10-$15 per person with a guest count of 75 and only need appetizers) I wouldn't even bother contacting them. The only reason they get 2 stars is because of their initial rate of response which was quick. read more

Went here for the Tuesday night Fried chicken buffet. On the buffet was a green salad, pasta salad, carrot salad, shrimp cocktail, fried chicken, green beans, Mac and cheese, corn, biscuits and gravy. Pros: Very clean restaurant and bathrooms. Service was very good, servers very attentive. Salads and vegetables were good. Cons: For it to be a $15 a plate buffet, I would think drinks and desserts were included, but they are not. $2.25 for 1 can of soda (no fountain drinks) is beyond ridiculous. I didn't even ask how much the dessert was nor did I see/taste any. The fried chicken and Mac and cheese were beyond underwhelming. First, the chicken was only drummettes and wings, and secondly, zero seasoning. The breading was crispy and a good thickness, so that's promising, but seasoning is desperately needed and fried chicken is not the kind of food that you can add salt to after the fact, so if it's not in the brine and in the coating, you've missed out. Please, please, get some seasoning, if not your own mix, at least throw some Lawrys in there!! And then in defense of the Mac and cheese, I'm a Mac and cheese snob so it takes a lot to impress me, but one thing I cannot stand is processed cheese in anything, and so I couldn't get much of this down. The processed cheese sauce and the over-cooked noodles were just not good. I would think a few pans of baked Mac and cheese would suffice and be doable to scale during this buffet (wasn't a full dining room and limited hours would mean that you wouldn't have to have an unlimited amount), as opposed to what's currently on the line. I feel like this place does have a lot of potential. It's obvious that they take great pride in the aesthetics as I haven't been to a cleaner restaurant in quite some time. And the attention in the dining room by a myriad of waiters and service people was impressive. And maybe during the ala carte menu service, it's scaled down and better quality, but I just felt like this buffet was lacking in quality and taste for the price. For the 4th of July, my cousin and I were bored in the morning so we decided to drive around and we came across this place; the name may make you think it's just a catering business but it's actually a restaurant. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by a kind gentleman. The restaurant atmosphere is very simple yet intimate. I ordered an omelette with veggies and ham along with their seasoned potatoes and English muffins. The food was scrumptious; my cousin and I were really impressed with it. I was so happy that I went the next day to take my parents. They are open Thursday to Saturday for dinner; they are closed on Sundays and the rest of the week, they are open from 8-3 for breakfast and lunch. I have been there quite a few times since my first visit. I still need to try their lunch/dinner menu; the prices are very nice! Please give this place a try! :) read more
