first things first, i want to clarify that i'm quite nervous around needles. anytime i have a blood test or get a vaccine, i always make it a point to tell the nurse that i am very nervous and a bit scared (despite nothing bad ever happening, like, ever)... so naturally i was very nervous about getting my ears pierced. i walked into the store one day after yelping for a tattoo + piercing spot because i have been thinking about getting my ears (re)pierced for years now (i got them pierced maybe 15 years ago at Claire's and didn't wear earrings back then for many reasons so the holes closed up). i asked a couple questions to Kyle who was at the front of the house and i really appreciated how straightforwardly they answered my questions. Kyle spoke matter-of-factly without making me feel silly for asking simple questions as a grown adult. i also really appreciate speaking to someone instead of just panicking while reading the FAQ page over and over!! fast forward to a month later, i made an appointment to get my lobes pierced! taylor was my piercer and they were absolutely wonderful to be in the care of. i told them exactly how nervous i was and they didn't sugarcoat that i'd definitely feel it -- it would hurt like a pinch hurts and i'd feel some heat, this is natural -- and they jokingly reassured me that if i hated the first piercing, i could stop at one (lol). it's been 8 weeks with my studs in and they've healed amazingly. taylor not only did an amazing job with the piercing, but they gave me really concise care tips and a business card with their info in case i needed to reach out about my piercings. i don't think i can sing high enough praises of the folks at new tribe! TL;DR: - spoke with kyle at the front of house and was pierced by taylor. both were absolute gems of human beings - overall very pleasant and calm experience as a nervous person - very knowledgeable and non-judgmental - thorough website w/ FAQs - would definitely come back if i ever wanted more piercings!! - studs are flat back - variety of studs to pick from for the piercing (some with price upgrades) read more

I got my navel pierced and it they did a horrible job. i chose them because of their reputation, not price. when I got it done, it was on a ridiculous angle. In order to fix it they need to take the jewelry out, let it heal for months then pierce it again which will take months to heal. I really do t want another hole in my body, especially because you will still see the hole that's in the wrong spot. Also, I don't want to go through the uncomfortable healing process that limits what I can do. I feel like they gave me a bad service. How hard could it be to put a naval pierce in straight? Overall, Excellent. The check in was smooth, front desk girl was super nice and personable. Nate was our artist and he was super nice, understanding, and a great artist of course! we walked in on a Monday around noon and waited about 1 hr before getting tatted. Price is solid for the work that you receive. I'm not sure if the shop had a minimum, however i'd expect to pay at least 140 CAD. Stopped in for some tattoos on a whim while on mine and my husband's "mini-moon." Glad we got them done here because it was clean and everyone was so friendly and helpful. Our tattoo artist was awesome (I wish I remembered his name) and the tattoos are healing nicely. The lines were very clean and they took less than 5 minutes each. The prices here are pretty steep (I have no idea if they are comparable to other Toronto tattoo studios) compared to tattoos in the US but was happy it was done well. read more

I initially had good things to say about this shop. The person who pierced me is nice and I think they mean well. However, after my initial piercing experience, everything went sideways. My healing process was atrocious for a few reasons. One, because New Tribe gave me surgical steel earrings (which can contain nickel and is not good enough quality metal for some people) when I told them I required titanium to accommodate my sensitive ears. Two, they also placed my piercings too close to my cartilage. This caused the backings to dig into the rounded part of my ears that you'd put a conch piercing through. I would attach photos but I don't want to trigger anyone with the blood and whatnot. There were times when the backings of my piercings would be swallowed into my ear due to improper placement and swelling. Further, they pierced me with short bars which did not allow the piercings to swell properly or drain fluid very well. I did go back 6 weeks into healing and the piercer switched my jewelry for titanium after advising that they thought I was having an allergic reaction to the metal. They wouldn't lengthen the bars like I asked, which just continued to impede the healing process. I tried to get these to heal for 6 months. I was in pain that entire time, when lobe piercings usually stop hurting after a few weeks. Ultimately, I took them out after consulting with an accredited piercer who agreed the placement was off. I brought my concerns to New Tribe recently, and I was honestly shocked by their response. Even after I attached photos that clearly show the placement being off, the backings digging in and causing problems that should not have been an issue, they said "We can guarantee our skills and execution". Despite the evidence I sent through photos and a detailed email, they would not give me my money back or offer any kind of acknowledgment, they just doubled down that they were right and can do no wrong. I don't know why I thought they'd be understanding, no one seems to like to admit when they've made a mistake even when there's proof of it. Overall, I'm really disappointed with the end results here. I spent a bunch of money at New Tribe for 6 months of pain and suffering, only to not be able to keep the piercings at the end of the day. These were lobe piercings, very straightforward. I have my first lobes done and they healed with no issues whatsoever. Except for my interactions with the piercer who is very nice and I'm sure did their best, pretty much everything about this experience with New Tribe sucked. It caused me 6 months of stress and frustration. I don't think my correspondence with New Tribe did anything to incentivise them to improve their services or customer service, so maybe this review will help others make informed choices. read more

Our 6 yr old got her ears pierced for the first time yesterday at New Tribe Tattoo. We've always known we would go to an experienced artist as opposed to a local Claire's shop where many parents take their pre-teens/kids. Full disclosure: our daughter cried BUT the artist was very patient and did not want to continue unless our daughter was comfortable doing so. Everything was at my 6 yr old's term! Which really put me at ease as a parent. Our 6 yr old wanted to keep going and got both of her ears pierced. In the end, after a few minutes of leaving New Tribe she said "mom, it doesn't hurt anymore!" And she was SO HAPPY she got it done and even more happier with the results. She was super knowledgeable and was able to get a 12mm bar for me, she talked to me about other jewelry options as well (which I will be back for when they come in) She was super gentle, and Maintained a very clean area while she was working on changing out my piercing. Back in June I did a walk-in for a quote and an hour later came out with the tattoo I envisioned thanks to Mark. He initially didn't seem to like how I wanted it laid out but once it was done he seemed cool with it. His font work is fantastic. I got a custom medic alert tattoo. I have had sooo many people comment on it. I tell everyone: Mark at New Tribe did it. I did go back for a little touch-up on two letters that just needed a little more thickness. I'm so happy with this tattoo. I received an email saying the six month period was approaching and thanking me for my business and offering me $20 off my next tattoo if done by the end of December. Online I booked a consultation with Mark and added some photos for reference along with my written request. I received an email letting me know of the booking but I didn't get it until the morning of, so quick turn around response. I rescheduled and saw Mark. I appreciate his honesty and insight about the tattoo and that what I was looking for this time is not his forte. He referred me to Veronica and showed me some pics of her work which is the style I was looking for. I booked an appointment to meet her via Mark and to discuss my vision. Veronica is lovely. She took the time to hear me and my vision, we looked at pics for reference and she drew an outline of the concept. I went back a few days later and it was done. She said: give it a few weeks to heal and to come back. I asked if I could have touch-ups if need be and she said yes. It's almost finished healing and looks great. She can literally translate a water colour painting onto your flesh. She's a very talented artist. We had a lovely chat while we were together as well. read more

I got my very first pair of lobe piercing at New Tribe so I can't speak much about the piercing skills of my piercer. However, I definitely had a great experience here. I was really nervous since this was my very first piercing so I was lowkey freaking out, especially I know I have moderate to low pain tolerance. The staff and piercer there are so nice and gently calmed me down. I had Stacy. While in the piercing room, Stacy kept chatting with me to distract me from the pain. She also educated me on their sanitary and piercing procedures to ensure me everything was sterile and safe. She was also super kind to answer my DMs on Instagram when I had questions on the aftercare that night. I am a bit sensitive to metal so I upgraded my jewelry to titanium, which is like $10 more than the standard stainless silver ones. However, because of COVID, they didn't have a lot of titanium options. The style they had in titanium was pretty simple and is a small loop ring which was exactly what I like so it didn't matter to me personally. But just be aware of the limitation of the titanium jewelry selections there if you are very sensitive to silver and other metals. Generally speaking, the staff there are super nice and the procedure went well. Highly recommend if you are seeking for your first lobe piercings! read more

The kind staff is so lovely to greet you at the door and ensure that your experience is comfortable and you're taken care of. absolutely love the company! I have no issues with all of the staff except for Fae; I came in for a simple insertion of jewellery as mine fell out the same morning. I told her I wasn't comfortable with her asking me to lie down and taper the hole for a simple insertion due to previous traumas to which she was very disrespectful; reminded me of how many years she has been doing piercings, as if I asked, and informed me that the piercing was going to hurt more the way that I asked her to do it even though it shouldn't and (didn't) hurt at all as the hole was still obviously open. I had even asked her to charge me for just the jewellery instead of the insertion as I was going to come another time and get anyone else instead; then she finally decided she could do it without her taper. Ive heard good things about this place since its pretty cheap and near my uni but after getting my second helix piercing I could clearly tell how crooked it was. I was iffy when the piercer gave me a hoop instead of a stud but didn't think it would cause any problems. After months of healing I decided to get another helix piercing done at a different shop and can now clearly recognize what an awful job my piercer had done with my first helix.
