He is very responsive and nice to see someone so invested in helping them out with their goals! I had been researching quite a few schools in the San Diego area for flying the past couple months and very excited I chose LTFSD. They have very flexible scheduling which is convenient when working full time. For their rates, customer service, and instructors, you can't beat a school like this. Looking forward to getting all my ratings here!

I get it and we did provide background and history and giving up controls can be hard as a new instructor and new-to-you student. Either way we would definitely fly with Learn to FLY SD again just with a more experienced instructor who can meet my son where he is at. Priced appropriately too which is a plus!

With so many flight…read moreschools to choose from in Southern California, I did extensive research and toured multiple schools. Coast Flight Training stood out immediately with the nicest facilities by far. Coast operates a fleet of 17 well-maintained aircraft, three free desktop simulators, and an FAA approved simulator. What truly sold me, however, was the customer service and maintenance staff. Anytime I had a question or concern about an aircraft, the on-site maintenance team was readily available to assess and address it, which provided a great deal of confidence and safety. Scheduling was also very flexible and accommodating, allowing me to efficiently complete my training within the projected timeframe. Additionally, Coast's location in San Diego at Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport provided invaluable experience training at one of the busiest Class D Airports in the country. Training in this complex airspace helped build real-world confidence, and I now feel comfortable navigating any airspace nationwide. I would highly recommend Coast Flight Training to anyone looking to earn their private pilot license recreationally or to those pursuing a career in the airlines.

I can't say enough positive things about the instructors I've met and had the privilege of learning from. The aircrafts are well maintained and the admins makes scheduling a smooth process. Overall, this school has helped me gain confidence as a pilot and has always created a welcoming and supportive environment to learn and grow.

In my opinion, this school has the highest quality instructors and ownership at CRQ. Check out their website to gather more information. Issues future students should be aware of that are unique to pinnacle.  First, pinnacle does not allow touch and gos.  This maximizes profits by likely lowering their insurance rates. This means you will not get nearly enough landings to gain competency quickly.  We spent $25,000 and after 70 hours of flight time, 120 landings and probably another 40 hours of ground time as well as near 22 months w/ no solo approval.  Lots of 'stalling' with instructors drilled by the owner to really wait generate more hours billed. Presolo is treated like an IFR checkride. . As soon as we left solo.   At a busy airport like CRQ you will spend lots of extra money on the ramp due to unqie no touch and go policy.  Pinnacle pays their instructors just a fraction of the total, so on the positive side very nice people and quite a lucrative business with good margins.

He was going to go to San Diego High, but it felt big and impersonal. My son is smart and i felt like he was going to just cruise by without any challenge or any accolades. We toured SET and my son was so excited. I love that each class is small. I love McCurdy, Ms Heath and all the other teachers. Ms. Geis is such a rad human! My Daughter is the opposite of my son.... She is into dance and theatre, but after seeing how awesome SET was, we enrolled my daughter too. Love the school and staff dearly!

If so, I highly suggest you check out SET High (formerly Coleman Tech Charter School). Our son graduated from SET High last year and now our daughter is attending and we couldn't be happier. She is only in 9th grade and already taking on leadership roles. The teachers exceed my expectations. They know each student by name, have great relationships with them. My son's former teachers are always happy to see him when he goes to visit, which is often. He even gave graduation presents TO some of his teachers before he left. The students are geeky, wacky, nerdy, different, intelligent, unique, confident, and wonderful! My daughter said that she didn't want to go to any other school because she is with "her people" and she is right. Dr. McCurdy said in last year's commencement speech, "If you aren't failing, you aren't learning." What a great place to make mistakes, learn from them, and make improvements. I'm so excited for the students attending SET High because they are learning real-world skills at such an early age in a supportive, caring, and fun environment. You won't find a better school for your student!
