During the flight, I got to try using all of the different controls we went over on the ground and even fly the plane completely on my own for a bit! Im an aspiring pilot and my first flying lesson was a disappointment. I was so excited to get up and finally fly but the instructor was bad. This guy Bruce Elig is just a bad teacher. Felt like he didn't want to be there and went through the motions. Mumbled and wouldn't let me enjoy myself. He gave me a lesson on the ground and mumbled for an hour straight like he was just going through a checklist. Once we were in the air he expected me to memorize everything and was annoyed when I didn't follow his mumbled directions. When I didn't do something exactly as he wanted he was irritated that I hadn't learned in an hour what took him years to learn. This guy just left a sour taste in my mouth. Anyway, the plane was cool just make sure you don't book Bruce as your instructor. read more

Christmas present from my sister-in-law to fulfill a life long dream of flying a plane. Bruce is a fantastic teacher. He's very methodical in that he breaks everything down in easy to understand chunks, only moving on to the next concept until he's sufficiently explained the first. As others have said, he's very succinct, but will answer any questions you have during the lesson. Most importantly though he's PATIENT! Flying is probably the more complicated individual activity that I've embarked on so you're going to forget something (early and often!) but he corrects you with no judgement. "Remember we want to make adjustments up here, not while you're looking at the instruments". It was totally unlike learning to drive a car with my dad, haha! I had an Introductory flight training session with Bruce. It was a birthday present. Unfortunately, due to weather it had to be rescheduled twice, but Bruce was very cooperative to make sure we got it done. His training is very thorough and comes at times like a fire hose of information. Be ready to think fast and multitask. Nothing is left out, and there are constant reminders before and during the flight. He was very safety oriented, and cautious about weather patterns that could affect my flight success and enjoyment. If you want to learn to fly and get all the details, I know of no one better to introduce a beginner to the flight controls and how to use them properly and safely. My instructor Bruce who is the owner operator of LetsFlySanDiego.com is in my opinion a top-notch professional pilot as well as a grade A educator. He knows his business well, when I met him, his professionalism just radiated. As I have continued to take lessons I have seen his technical knowledge as well as his real-world knowledge of the industry first hand. If you decide to do an introductory flight with him, he makes sure it's your first lesson (not just a "RIDE" to get you hooked) whether or not you continue lessons with him.
