Terrible experience with alternations here. Bought my dress here, they made mistakes from the start, my hem to hollow was measured incorrectly as the factory received the wrong measurements from my fitting. The dress was about 3 inches too long. Then my alterations were not completed at my second fitting which was supposed to be where all the alterations are competed, after a month of my dress sitting there, nothing was touched. I gave them an extra day, still nothing was touched. Then after a week, I came and it was finally done. The craftsmanship/tailoring was a rushed job. After I took dress home I realized strap length was uneven. I ended up taking my dress elsewhere and having to pay extra to fix their mistakes. New tailor said the dress straps shouldn't have been cutt off how they were cut, it should've preserved as much of original fabric and design as possible, but things were chopped off without rhyme or reason. The bustle had huge pearl buttons that stuck out rather than being discrete. The straps were different lengths. The middle did not sit center on my chest & there was a fold even if I slouched a little. My recommendation: go to a trusted tailor! Do not go here. You may as well not buy your dress here as they'll just drag things out and string you along until it's too late to fix anything. The new tailor ended up doing an off the shoulder strap with a thin and comfortable spaghetti strap that fit the dress much better read more

My little cousin had so many issues. Ordered her dress 2 years before the wedding. Multiple issues and unprofessional services throughout the whole 2 years leading up to two hours before the wedding with a bustle that fell apart and caused her to trip and fall during her wedding reception. Nothing was done in a timely or professional manner and after a year and half of waiting for her veil they told her the one she wanted was no longer available and she could order another one. The one she chose wouldn't have been in time as they waited less than 3 months before her actual wedding. She had to get one off the rack. I met the girls at a bridal expo in March 2020, right before Covid. My best friend and I had made a double appointment in early June 2020. We were able to keep our appointment with masks and all the precautions. Lana helped us, inquiring about my style and asking how my husband and I met. She really heard me! On the third dress, I had found the one. I even tried a few more and said "can I try that one on again?" I never felt rushed or pressured. My dress took about a full year to come in, with Covid impacting the business globally. I still had plenty of time and went through 2 rounds of alterations. The detail on my dress is exquisite. The woman who does the alterations walked my friend through how to bustle. She made sure I was comfortable and confident. This is a family operated business and from my impression, employees are treated with dignity, respect, and freedom to do their job. I love my dress, I loved my experience, and I love a small, family run business that's been in operation for 100 years. You may get cheaper prices elsewhere, but I'd rather not support big business. Went here to get bridesmaids dresses. The stylist was blunt but nice enough. They are not straightforward with their pricing and there are lots of hidden fees. They are not as affordable as you're Led to believe. Our bride wanted coral and the dresses we received were NOT coral but a bright pink. We supposedly had a $95 cap on alterations, but weren't told that some alterations weren't covered and some things the seamstress suggested were considered "extra customizations" even though that's what the dress needed to fit. Might be silly to write this review before we get the dress. Wouldn't be surprised if it takes until the day before the wedding to actually get the dresses. I went to New York Lace Store shopping for my Mother of the groom dress. I was pleasantly surprised at the selection they have in the store. I arrived at 12:30 for my 1:00 appointment. I thought I would pick out some dresses before my sisters and brother arrived to help me make my choice. I chose about 8 dresses that I liked. Darlene was my stylist and she exceeded my expectations. She was very patient, kind, helpful and fully respected my privacy. She picked up on the things I liked and did not like about each dress and went back to find a dress that she thought checked all my boxes. She found the perfect dress for me. The place is very tastefully done with several mirrors and platforms to try on your dresses along with a comfortable seating area for guests. The dressing room was very spacious and private. The only excellent part of the experience was the seamstress Louisa! Other than that, go elsewhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Felt like we were robbed with regard to the cost of the alterations. Owner talked and talked and talked about how he was left with 2 years worth of Prom Stock due to Covid and no Prom Seasons - NOT my problem and I should not have had to pay through the nose because of it. If the shop is having tough times, then maybe its not a great time to renovate... Just seems like all they care about is the mighty buck. And when a bride is trying on her dress and is unhappy with the way something looks and tries to figure out how to make it better, the owner (a man) doesn't get to say "that's just the way it is." I was misquoted twice. I was given the wrong price back when I bought my dress. Yes I did buy it from them because it was a beautiful dress. Now I've been given the wrong price to preserve my dress. I was told it would be $195 to ship it to be cleaned and preserve. Then I was told it would actually be $295 to ship, clean, and preserve. I went with my daughter here for a prom gown. I had previously bought a dress before so 10 years ago for my other daughters wedding. It's not always comfortable walking into gown shops AND customers usually don't feel really welcomed but Lana , probably spelt wrong, was unbelievable. A friend of mine was looking for a veil and accessories for a dress she set her eyes on at a different bridal shop in Fall River. The sale woman must have been upset that we didn't purchase the dress at New York Lace because she was probably the rudest person I have ever met in the industry. The birde wanted a cathedral veil but she kept pushing that this style wouldn't work for her. Although her advice would have been appreciated and appropriate if she was nice, she was simply rude, overbearing, and wouldn't let any of us at the appointment have a word. Many of the ladies that worked there were super sweet! However, they were not good. They measured me for my bridesmaid dress, wrote down a size too small, and argued with me about the size being right. Sure enough... the zipper didn't zip on my $250 dress. They measured again and completely redesigned my dress, costing another $200... and it still didn't fit and I was falling out of it, but they said it was fine. The dress was cheaply stitched and the alterations were horribly done with the inside of the dress coming out at the seams. They messed up 3 of the dresses in the wedding party and just kept charging us more. They also were super strict with scheduling to the point where they made a bridesmaid cry after yelling at her about scheduling a second fitting. I wish I'd started my bridal gown search at NYLACE, as my experience here far exceeded that of any I've had in other bridal boutiques in Southeastern MA and Cape Cod. It's hard to determine which element of my time here made it so outstanding. I arrived early and Jacqueline saw me right away. Over the course of my 3 hour ( yes!! 3 hours!! ) consultation, she encouraged me to try on dozens of gowns while expertly suggesting dresses that fit my body type and desired style. Jacqueline was completely transparent with me; if a dress wasn't flattering, she'd tell me and suggest another option ( her honesty was incredibly refreshing). Ultimately, Jacqueline guided me toward a stunning Justin Alexander gown that looks incredible on me. This girl is an expert in bridal! NYLACE is stocked with every designer I'd seen on Pinterest, Instagram, etc. The try on area is tasteful and clean, the lighting is great, the staff members who weren't working with me were friendly. When you drive by New York Lace, it looks pretty ghetto. Inside, its nice but extremely crowded with all the racks of dresses they have. I've been here twice since they were doing trunks shows of designers tht i was interested in. They also have a lot of dress out back that you can choose from. Stephanie was my bridal consultant both times. She was great and asked me what I liked and in addition helped me pick out some dresses that I might like. She is also really good at pinning and clipping the dress, so you can kind of see the fit of it. of course, all the dresses here are about size 20 and since I am petite and only weigh about 105lbs, the dresses can be huge and a bit heavy. I didn't buy my dress since but if you are near here or can travel a ways, definitely check out New York Lace. Its a great place to start to get ideas and they carry many designers and prices range from $$to$$$$. A close friend got married last year. As her bridesmaid, I accompanied her to a few places around the Boston area to look for dresses. As soon as we walked in to New York Lace, we knew we had come to the right place. New York Lace has been in business for years, and they know their stuff. The staff was pleasant, knowledgeable, and professional. My friend is full figured, and worried about finding a dress that would fit and flatter amongst the sea of strapless, petticoated gowns out there. The salesperson immediately brought out some gorgeous, flattering selections that my friend would not have considered. She loved the dress she found there. We also purchased our bridesmaid dresses at New York Lace. Prices were reasonable and the alterations were well done. After a horror story of an experience with another store (not in the Boston area) that left me walking down the aisle in a bridesmaid's dress 4 inches too large in the waist (thank goodness for safety pins and an auntie who had done alterations before), I was very pleased with the tailoring at New York Lace. From the moment we walked in we felt unwelcome. The woman working the front desk , Delores, was rude and said her consultants were kind enough to work with me then I should be kind enough to give up all of my personal information. Our consultant, Judy, was awful. She treated me and my bridal party like children and was very disrespectful. We gave her examples of what I liked and didn't like and she couldn't seem to comprehend what we were saying. Not only did she say she couldn't find anything for me but she said that 'in my 20 years of helping brides find wedding dresses she has never been able to not help someone find something.' When my friend came back to help me (because I was so flabbergasted by how I was treated, I needed help), Judy was so I insulted she just completely shut down and said out of the 1000s of dresses I have, I have nothing for you. I would never recommended this store to anyone, they were rude and disrespectful. Is it not how a customer should be treated, never mind a bride. Maybe if they were working for commission (which she told us 8 times they weren't) they would be nicer. Not to mention the even ruder attack I received to my wedding wire review. Despite the lackluster reviews on yelp and the knot my mother and I decided to make an appointment to try on wedding gowns. We were greeted by a young enthusiastic woman who took my information and then encouraged us to look around. While doing so, several walk-ins arrived and the boutique became busy and crowded. From what I could tell, only 2 people were working. I'm unsure where the rest of the staff were hiding on a busy Saturday afternoon. After 10 minutes we were informed by the bridal manager that our stylist was backed up with her client and would be with us shortly. My mother and I took a seat and watched two other woman (including a walk in) receive help and begin trying on dresses while we waited for our assigned stylist. I watched the woman who would soon be helping me service another bride to be. As a store manager, I was appalled to hear how abrupt, pushy, and rude she was. While the bride was trying to decide between two dresses the stylist excused herself and was gone for at least 20 minutes. She had no sense of urgency. She never even introduced herself or apologized for the inconvenience. She ignored us the entire time even though she knew we were her next appointment. I was put off by her the moment I heard her demoralizing the bride she was helping. After waiting an hour and ten minutes, my mother was irate and we decided to leave. Instead of making appointments wait for their assigned stylist, it needs to be on a first come first serve basis. I made my appointment for 2:30pm. Although my stylist wasn't available, I should have been assigned to the next available one. Instead I watched the 3:00pm appointment go ahead of me because her stylist was ready and a walk in went ahead of me as well!! Terribly managed, terrible customer service. I recently picked my wedding date and I just want to make sure that I get the one important thing out of the way which is my dress. I decided to stop in here first since I live some what close to here. I walked in and there was nothing but very few wedding dresses out, only one caught my eye it was on the mannequin and I loved it. I would suggest everyone find somewhere else this hidden gem has allure,Stella York, Mori Lee and so on dresses for half the price and everything is pretty much about 3,000 and under and alterations included also you get to walk the whole store and pick what you want to try on. Walking into this place (other than the beautiful doorway) was kinda scary. The dresses in the front where you could browse were so ugly! Some were sale bridal gowns and some were the bridesmaids dresses, but it was bad. Tacky and not what I was looking for! I give 3 stars instead of 2 because the girl helping me with my gown was really nice, and let me into the back room to find the dresses that I liked. I think if my style were different, I might like it better here. They have a big range of dresses, but most are sparkly, lots of shiny beading. I was looking for simple elegance with some detail (not a contradiction, I swear...), but that wasn't exactly their style. I had a wonderful experience buying my wedding gown at New York Lace. I had made an appointment at David's Bridal, but in my online search was disappointed with their selection. I made a last minute appointment to go to New York Lace and could not be happier with my decision. My consultant for the appointment was Mercedes. She was so helpful! I went in there with an idea of what I wanted. Once she put me in the style dress I thought I wanted, I was able to see that was not the right fit for me. Mercedes brought in such a beautiful selection of dresses for me to try on, keeping what I had said in mind. She was like having my own personal hype girl. She was conscious of my budget and warned me when I was trying on a dress at the very top of my budget. I thought that was nice, and I like that she wasn't trying to sell me on anything I wouldn't be able to afford. This was the first place I looked at dresses and I went more to get an idea I wanted. I ended up buying the 8th dress I tried on!! My alterations appointment is scheduled for September - I will update this post to reflect how that goes. So far, I am pleased that alterations and storage are included in the price of the dress. I have heard horror stories from people with how expensive those can be, so it is reassuring knowing I've already paid for that. read more

I was hesitant to go because of other reviews from a while back but it is right up the street so I thought why not. I am so happy that I made the choice to go. My consultant was Stephanie. She is just wonderful. She listened to what I liked and didn't like and picked dresses that met my description as well as what she thought would look nice. After trying on a couple dresses she put me in some of the high designer sample sizes which I didn't even know were an option. I absolutely fell in love with the first one. It was extremely far from my price range but they dropped the price about 50%!! Stephanie accessorized it just perfectly with earings, veil etc. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, better service or better prices. I highly recommend going here. I purchased my wedding dress here because "alterations are included." If you, too, decide to buy a dress here, you need the patience of a saint. Overall, my experience with NYL was fair. I was taken at almost every appointment at least a half hour late--sometimes as much as an hour. They're notorious for leaving you on the pedestal in front of the mirror in a dress, then disappearing to attend to another client. There were many situations where I would ask my mom to unzip me and help me out of one dress and into another because there wasn't anyone around. I will say that Faustina is fantastic. When I was deciding on a dress, she picked all the right ones and really had a hold on the inventory. I'd trust her with anything. However, like many people in other reviews have mentioned, they take their dandy time with alterations. I returned for my 2nd fitting about a month after my first, when I was told that almost everything would be done. Apparently they "forgot" about my dress--did none of the alterations--and we actually spent the entire hour re-pinning everything because it was pinned incorrectly. This was a week before my wedding. I picked up my dress two days before the wedding and had to wait two hours because they were "finishing it." No one called to tell me they were running behind schedule, either. After, everything *was* perfect, but it was really stressful in the days leading up to the wedding. Most of my alterations fell apart after the wedding--and I did have to emergency-sew one part of my dress in place before church--but at that point, I didn't care much. NYL is good for prices, but I'm not sure I would purchase a dress here again. It's clear they're understaffed, but what little staff they have is knowledgeable. read more

Every encounter that I had with the staff at New York Lace was anxiety provoking. In the end, I loved my dress, but I had to bite my tongue and be quite persistent in order to get it. I thought that dress shopping was supposed to be glamorous and fun. A trip to this store is similar to waiting too long for a medical appointment. They seem to have the attitude that the customer should consider themselves lucky to be able to shop there. Brides, if you take the risk to buy at New York Lace, just be sure to have a wedding planner or assertive bridesmaid arrange everything for you. The grand finale of my experience here was picking up my dress 2 days prior to my wedding. I was assured that this would be the best time to get the dress from the staff there. On arrival, they were not ready and actually seemed to have forgotten about my appointment. Twice while I was standing on the pedestal the attendant left me there alone to help someone who walked into the store after I did. The tailor inked the front of my dress during alterations. I pointed this out a month prior to my pickup and was assured that it would come out with no problem and then 2 days prior to the wedding was given a a list of excuses as to why it was still there in addition to a second marking. read more

WORSE experience of my life!!! I went there with my matron of honor and fell in love with this eve of milady dress and was told that the dress was $3800! I then made another appointment to go back with all my bridesmaids and parents. I went in and tried the dress and fell in love all over again and had my bridal moment cried and all! Now it was time for my mom to put the deposit on the dress and she told us the price was $4775. I was in shock, how can one day the dress be 3800 and now be 47. Of course the consultant that I originally dealt with wasn't there. At this point I just left the store disappointed and furious. My bridesmaids then decided to start contacting other stores that carry that gown and long and behold we found a place in texas with the gown and was quoted $3850! Now I feel like I don't even want the dress any more cause all I can think about was that awful experience when my dream dress was once a reality and then ripped from me. I decided that I would call the owner and let her know that I had found a place that would sell it to me for 3850 and she proceeded to tell me that she didn't understand how that could be. That she has been selling that dress all along for 4775. I told her I no longer interested in the gown due to what happened that day, but wanted her to be aware that I'm not and idiot and she wasn't going to screw me over and I was on to her. Also the dress had no tags so I had no way of knowing the actually price. I could only imagine how many other brides she has done this to. I have been working in the bridal industry for 13 years and never in the life have I seen someone do this. DO NOT..I REPEAT DO NOT SHOP HERE. we went here to get bridesmaid dresses in November and the dresses came in last week...I got the wrong dress. After calling we figured out that the clerk/cashier entered the wrong dress into the system and then the owner tried to say that that was the dress we said we wanted and it my mine and the brides fault. After a long heated conversation she said that she would get me the dress I wanted but I wouldn't come in till a week before the wedding and she couldn't guarantee that. I then found another store that for a fee could get me the dress over a month earlier than NYL and according to them there was no way to get it faster. The only good thing was that I got my money refunded. Which by the way was never offered to me, it was offered to the bride at a later conversation. I first want to say that I have never written a review before on any platform so bear with me , I'm not one to complain . I purchased a dress for my son wedding at New York Lace and had the dress altered there , that was my first mistake I should have taken to a trusted seamstress I've used before . I thought it was probably best to have it altered there since that's where I purchased it and they have been in business for over 100 years , so I had no reason to doubt they would do a good job . I went back to try my dress on and if everything checked out I would take it that day . From the minute I tried it on it didn't feel right , the top was tight and pulled in places it shouldn't have and the hem was shorter in the back than the front and it was longer on one side than other . I told the gentleman this but he just kept saying it was fine, it looked great and there was nothing more they could do. I left there thinking that I spent all this money on this dress and the alternations ( over $1000.00) and was going to be uncomfortable all day at my sons wedding . I have since brought it to another seamstress and she is fixing everything that she can, but it's going to cost me an additional several hundred dollars . I sent an email asking them to return my alteration costs and after several e mails back and forth they refused and said bring the dress back and we'll try and fix it . I will also add that they took Forever to respond and once I asked for my money back they planned on never responding until I pushed for a response of any kind . So unprofessional, I should have read the reviews before doing business there , I was shocked by all the negative reviews. Horrible, horrible, horrible, that is how I would describe my experience with New York Lace. They try to get as much money out of you as possible, right from the beginning they tried to get me to pay an additional $150 rush cut fee that was not necessary, when I told them I refuse to pay it and would get the dress elsewhere, the story suddenly changed and the fee was not needed. The alterations that I needed totaled $175 at new york lace and other bridal stores quoted me $30 for the same work. They charged me an additional $40 to pick up my already paid in full dress with no alterations and unpressed AND DIRTY They gave me a wrinkled, dirty gown and to top it off, the sales woman took the dress out of the bag to give me. New York Lace made my wedding dreams come true. I specifically went to the store because they carry Eve of Milady and my bridal consultant was great during the entire appointment. My dream dress was there and I was so excited, unfortunately I was told it was discontinued. Judy at NYL made it happen. She contacted Eve of Milady and the designer herself agreed to re-cut the pattern of the dress and make it! Throughout the entire process Judy was great to work with, even after all of my questions and phone calls. My alterations were free with the purchase of the gown and they were done perfectly. I was pretty sad when I went to pick up the gown 2 days before my wedding because I wasn't going to be back but I do hope to see all of them again for maybe a friend's wedding gown. If you want a store that will go above and beyond for you, then go to New York Lace. **You should be aware though that I guess they only let you use your credit card once or something? I'm not sure but my mom went to go pay for some accessories and we were told they only took cash or check since we already used our credit cards twice. read more

My daughter fell in love with a beautiful beaded gown for senior prom. We put 50% down and scheduled an appointment in 2 weeks to allow them time to fix some missing beads. I left work early, fought traffic to get my daughter from school, parked in the snow. Just for them to bring out the dress in the exact same condition. A man was there, not sure who he was asking if I can come back tonight. The reason I made an appointment and allowed 2 weeks for repairs is because I work full time and am raising 4 kids. It should have been ready, if not they should have called to let me know it wasn't ready. I wasted time and money to pick up a dress that wasn't ready. I think they should bring it to my house!
