I don't like shopping for clothes, never mind suits. Johnny made this experience so painless that it was actually enjoyable. He listened to what we were looking for and showed us a couple good options (including a beautiful expensive suit about which he said "If you don't wear suits a lot, this will just be a very sexy suit hanging in your closet"). He took one look at me and -- without any measuring -- picked out a jacket, shirt and pants that all fit perfectly, and I had a great fitting suit within a week. I cannot recommend this place (and Johnny specifically) highly enough. read more

There was no other place I was taking my son for a tux than to see Johnny Merian. He asked my son what he was looking for, and within two minutes, he walked out with an amazing tuxedo jacket, perfect fit, without even taking one measurement yet. I had been to Merian's before, several years back to help his brothers pick out tuxedos for their prom. I remembered what a great experience it was and knew it would be the right place for my fiancé to rent his tux for our wedding. John helped us and he was phenomenal at his job. Great to work with and excellent service. John helped me with my suit for my wedding. All I did was give him my wedding colors and have him take my measurements and he took it from there and provided a suit that looked and fit great! He even had these amazing cat's-eye cuff-links that really stood out. All of this would be worth a fairly moderate review, what really earned him the 5-stars was his ability to be flexible. Due to restrictions surrounding COVID-19 my wedding got postponed and his business had to comply with ever-changing guidelines. Throughout the whole process John took the changes in stride. Who would have thought there would be a place to rent fine clothes in the heart of the ghetto that is Brockton. This place is massive....looking around it seems to go on for miles past the still large showroom. The back looked like some prison laundry with lower than normal lighting and giant industrial steamers. At least I know my tux is clean and for a bonus I might get a chiv in the pocket to help out if a bridesmaid wont leave me alone (which happens often). Whoa, where do I start? I happened to be out of town on business and a last minute formal event. My biggest problem is that I didn't have a tux... Wasn't fitted, no reservation, nothing! The formal event was in a few hours. (uh-oh) Johnny, was a complete LIFESAVER! He took one look at me and let me know that, not only did he have something for me, but he could have me looking excellent in a matter on minutes. These guys are really great. An independent, family owned business with a vested interest in serving their customers to best of their abilities. I found these guys online and drove all the way down from Boston to check out their shop and get a tuxedo or something for my destination beach wedding. I would need the tux for an extended time and they offered to rent it to me for 2 weeks at the same cost as 1. Men's Warehouse wasn't going to do anything like that for me. Then, they helped me find other options, like a sweet linen suit, which they would rush alter for me. I ended finding the perfect suit somewhere else, but I really wish I could have bought it from them. Definitely a top operation! read more

These guys do it right. My whole family has been coming here for years and its the only place I would get a suit or tux. The fit you properly unlike those mall stores and they make sure you look good. If you dont look good they go out of their way to make sure you do. Parking is a pain and its in the center of town but who cares its worth it for the amazing suits and tuxes they have to offer. A must go to! read more

The owner will do everything he can to take card of you. I had a unique order and he gave me a rental for three months without charge even though he could not help. He has some of the nicest suits in town and will dress you to the nines. read more

My picture of the Blue Angels flying over Key West was taken by my Daughter who lives there. She recently got married in Gloucester and as the Father of the Bride, I had to look special, so I went to Tuxedos by Merian. I wanted to create the classic James Bond look with white jacket and black slacks, white tuxedo shirt and black bow-tie. Peter fitted me and hit it out of the park with a GRAND SLAM! This family owned and operated company is top shelf! With all the stress that comes with getting married, working with these gentlemen took tuxedos off of the list of things to worry about. From fittings, to pick up and the returns, the boys were always fun and professional. Everything is in house, so if there are any issues it is handled that same day. After being disappointed by another Tuxedo place, I went to Tuxedos by Merian in Brockton seeking tuxedos for my wedding (myself + six groomsmen). First, this is not your typical tux place... It is not a glamorous building or setup, but Jimmy and John really know what they are doing!! On my first visit Jimmy helped me choose tuxedos and talked me out of some bad ideas that my fiancee and I had been considering. This was ENORMOUSLY helpful, as other tuxedo places we had visited offered no feedback or direction, and we had almost signed up for tuxes we weren't thrilled with. Jimmy is able to size your tux largely without taking any measurements. It's clear he has done this thousands of times and can size a tux just right. Just for the record -- he does verify with measurements, but probably 9 times out of 10 he'll get it just right just by looking at you. This beats other chain tux places we had visited, where we were helped by young inexperienced staff who didn't seem to know how to properly take measurements. Another note about Jimmy and John as they help you -- they have very unique and outgoing personalities (think Boston Rob from Survivor) -- so be prepared for a conversation you'll remember. If you meet Jimmy, ask about his fish hook incident. One challenge for my wedding was that most of the groomsmen were flying in from out of town, so it was not possible to have them go to the store for measurements. Jimmy and John make this process simple -- they give you a list of eight measurements that the groomsmen can stop by any tux place local to them to get measured. Once you have the measurements, you can call them in or stop by the store. I chose to stop by the store, and John literally spent 20-30 minutes with me going through each groomsman's measurements one by one, asking questions about how tall they are and how they're built, etc. Without seeing the groomsmen and based entirely on inconsistencies in the numbers other stores had provided, he was able to estimate corrected measurements for each groomsmen. John also made arrangements with me so that -- if needed -- he could meet us in downtown Boston the night before the wedding if we had fit problems. But there was no need -- everyone's tux fit perfectly come the night before. John even agreed to let me drop off the tuxes on a Sunday, when the store is normally closed. I highly recommend Tuxedos by Merian for your wedding. read more

This place is horrible. Was a groomsmen in my buddy's wedding and each of us had issues with out tux. My jacket was too long and the arms were too shirt. The dress shirt was way to big. Another guy had once size smaller than he order for shoes. The groom was missing buttons. On top of all this they want the tux back as soon as possible like its f'n rental car. I recently attended a corporate event where Merian handled the tuxedos for the entire party that included over 1000 people. I was late to register, so did not have a tux set aside for me. Wanted to stay local, the owner himself helped us for a prom rental. Everyone there was so nice and the price was great and reasonable.

Not happy with the quality of the merchandise, the customer service, or the professionalism here. We rented tuxedos and shoes from Tuxedos by Merian for my daughters wedding. On the day of the wedding, as my son-in-law was getting ready, he discovered Merian's had forgotten his bow-tie. It was less than two hours before the ceremony began, so one of his groomsmen had to run out to a nearby store to try to find a bow tie for him. Then, an hour before the ceremony, the sole of my husband's shoe came apart. He would have been walking his daughter down the aisle with his shoe flapping. At this point, we had no idea what to do. Thankfully, the florist was still onsite and came to our rescue with some floral glue which she used to glue my husband's shoe back together and get him through the ceremony. Then, right before the ceremony began, one of the groomsmen's buttons popped off his jacket. Too late to do anything about that, so he went down the aisle with a missing button and partially open jacket. One issue might be understandable, but THREE? That's unacceptable. When my husband returned the tuxes, he recounted all the issues. He was offered twenty dollars for the groom's missing bowtie. Seriously? They each paid over $200 for the tuxes. I would not recommend this place. And when I recounted this experience on their Facebook page, they deleted my Facebook review. Not professional or accountable at all. read more

I used Tuxedos by Merian for the rental tuxes for my wedding. All I can say is WOW! Paul and John are great. The services they offer with the tux bus is incredible and so easy and convenient. I tell anyone and everyone I can to use them! So why not tell everyone on yelp.com!? What we did was went up to Brockton once! Picked out the tuxes we wanted for our wedding, made an appointment for the guys to get fitted, and threw a small guys of the wedding party get together and the tux bus came down and fitted all the guys! It was so easy and perfect. Weddings can be a stressful thing but the tuxes were one thing I really had no worries over! They drop off the tuxes and pick them up. Thank you Paul and John!!!
