It's in the lesser known neighorhood of Langdon in NE DC (south of Brookland). The building itself is historic and giant. It's well kept maintaining its old charm. Inside are art studios for a collection of DC small businesses and creatives. Twice a year they open the warehouse to the public to showcase each studio's work. As you wander throughout the building, talk to the artists, enjoy the snacks they lay out in each room, and get to know their stories. Many of them are native to this city and express their perspectives through their beautiful art.

Took a pottery class here after years of wanting to try my hand at it. As a kid I loved clay and…read moreplay dough and yes it's not the same of course but I thought the impulse was in the right place. Anyway, I've never sat at a pottery wheel before but thanks to the incredible instruction facilitated by the small class size and the relaxed atmosphere I had a blast. And, bonus, my creations turned out pretty great, too! We'll see how they turn out after the firing and glazes. I had so much fun and was so encouraged by the experience I'm considering a membership to explore the hobby further. At the least I'll be taking more classes. Highly recommend the classes and studio to anyone and everyone. I'm the beginningest beginner possible and I couldn't have had a better time.

Jared and Por are fantastic! I've shot there multiple times and each time Jared met me at the location, he made sure we had everything we needed. There is wonderful lighting equipment, although, the natural light is so abundant, I mainly used lighting to fill in shadows.

We were early but they explained how the event worked and what time to come back to enjoy it! i made a wonderful perfume from a Baltimore based artist and I honestly cannot wait to go to more of her events! The staff was super nice and welcoming and I love that 100% of the proceeds went to the small business that was providing them!

I previously took a class on cookie decorating... but have wanted to sign up for several of the other offerings like learning to paint my pet or paper flower making. While we are under stay at home orders, Give Rise has been doing some online yoga offerings and instructions. They have also been doing kits for at home crafting that seem incredible! I truly think Give Rise is a great resource for the community and showcases amazing talent. I cannot wait til things are back to normal and I can come in for another workshop!

There's art classes for children and adults as a "Sundays at the Art Center" program. That particular event is fun. And free. Every Sunday, you can go to the center and have free drinks (coffee or a soft drink) and cookies and see whatever exhibit is there that particular week, as well as listen to guest artists talk about their works. There is an exhibit going on here now that I loved! It is called "International Cocktail Collection" and is a series of pastel paintings that incorporate drink glasses (mostly of the martini kind) used in unusual ways.
