The directors are always developing new programs and bringing in the latest activities for campers of all ages. One of the newest additions to the camp is the climbing wall and zip line. My kids could not get enough of them. My kids are also huge fans of animals and the fact that Deerkill has a pony, and a couple of friendly alpacas is a great plus. Overall, I would recommend Deerkill to anyone that would like to provide their kids with the opportunity to have summers they will never forget making life long friends along the way. I was hoping for greater flexibility and collaboration during the enrollment process, but instead felt that the process became increasingly difficult and ultimately decided not to move forward. I appreciate the importance of ensuring campers are a good fit, but I believe families navigating complex disability-service systems would benefit from more understanding, clear communication, and flexibility throughout the admissions process.

The camp is located inside Harriman State Park at Lake Tiorati so my kids were really away from the city in the woods. The lakefront is amazing and my boys really learned how to swim. They loved the large inflated playground in the lake! The counselors took good care of my boys and they learned so many outdoor skills--boating, fishing, sports, woodworking.
