Service clerk were kind and quick. There's plenty of parking outside with security in the front. The downfalls are the MA / Staffs in the back looks unhappy with their job, not very professional and not respond with attitudes. Got my blood pressure checked twice for no reason. First time was correct, but the MA decided to do it again. Got bruises after her technique or way of putting it on. I also got the pneumonia shot and have been aching / sore the whole day even with Tylenol. I honestly don't think they know what they are doing; unprofessional. I've gotten many injections and shots and none of them has been this painful / sore for this long. I wouldn't recommend this wellness center to anyone. Tried making a new appointment here, told me there is a waitlist and that they would call within a month. Made sure to give the receptionist my NEW number and he said he updated it on the file. Waited about 2mo and no call so I gave the clinic a call. No answer. Tried again the next week, no answer. Almost kind of gave up. Few weeks laters (3 months now since the original call), tried reaching out again, no call so I ended up calling the alameda alliance health to see if they can help somehow or if I can change my PCP, and they informed me that they called me a month ago, on my OLD phone number. A relative of mine recently was referred here for a prenatal check up. From the moment she walked in, she was met with an unfriendly and unwelcoming attitude from the staff. It felt like she was inconveniencing them by being there, even though that is their job. Many staff kept repeating that "they were closing soon" even though there was plenty of time to get the appointment completed. When she attempted to ask questions or make simple requests, the staff/nurses responded in a dismissive manner. Overall, her experience at Newark Wellness was extremely unpleasant, thanks to the rude and unprofessional behavior of the staff. I went in for an appt with Dr. Stefanie Chu with Newark Wellness back in February this year for a routine physical. She ordered a series of blood workups for me to take, saying they are a follow up to the checkup. After I took the blood workups, I found I was responsible for $570 in copay after insurance. In my follow up call with Dr. Chu to examine my blood workup results, I asked her about the high cost of the workups and she said it shouldn't cost that much. I tried then for the next several months to contest the charge, going back and forth with my insurance, and Alameda Health System's billing department, only to eventually find out I need to request a dispute claim / billing code review with Alameda Health System. I feel it needs to be said that none of this was explained well to me as a patient who was trying to get more clarity into the nature of high charge for my blood workup. I felt like I was pulling teeth through the entire process. Eventually, the results of the dispute claim came back and they said in very vague terms that I would be responsible for the whole amount because the doctor had apparently submitted the billing code labeling me as overweight, which meant that the blood workup was not covered under my insurance. WHATT???? So basically Dr. Chu lied in saying that she submitted the blood workup as a follow up for a regular physical exam. Now I am being held responsible to pay for a service I was not properly informed I was signing up for. This is at best unprofessional and at worst fraudulent behavior. The pediatrician is nice and professional and it's super convenient to have everything under one roof (pediatrics, internal medicine, lab, podiatrist, nutritionist, ect). 1) I called to ask if they received the lab order my mom's Nephrologist had faxed because we were on our way. The representative was able to verify mom's information, but then said if it was regarding labs, she couldn't tell if it was received. and that we would have to "take a chance of it not being there" once we got there. I ended up just driving to my house to pick up the hard copy. 2) The same representative told me that they closed at 4pm. I told her that the website said 4:30pm however she confirmed that if I was going to Newark Wellness Center that we would have to be there by 4pm. 3) I get there at 3:30pm on the dot and was told they would not see me because they stop taking patients at 3:20pm. I told them that I called and she said that 4pm is the hours for Highland and whatever other hospital (i cant remember)... but yes, they declined services and told me to come back, I'm guessing because we don't all have busy schedules... mind you my mom is asthmatic, has a chronic kidney disease, cirrhosis, asthma, anemia, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. Not patient centric --- I guess all that matters is that they're all able to clock out on time. This location is close to the 880 freeway and is convenient to get to. There are a dozen parking spots right outside and I always find a spot. My favorite part of the Newark Wellness Center is that you can find an appointment very quick and do not have to wait too long to be seen. Inside, you are greeted by a friendly security guard and staff members, and there are plenty of seats in the waiting room to wait for your appointment. I like that the waiting room is quiet and that the no phone call rule is enforced. The staff here have been professional and courteous. That is one of the most important things I look for in a doctors office. I recommend this as a primary care facility. read more

Physicians for adult, children and infants, Women's Health, Nutrition, etc etc I love Newark Wellness Center because of how friendly, patient, and professional every employee is. From the receptionist to the nurses to the physicians. Every certified professional goes above and beyond to resolve your issue in a comfortable and essay manner. Thank You Medical for blessing us with this amazing wellness center. Perhaps the only cons are there is no emailing physicians and having to wait to receive a call back. The nurses, Dr. Janna, and occasionally the kind receptionists (also Sharon from the call center) are solely the reason for the stars. Other than that, from beginning to end-- everything else about their clinic is A NIGHTMARE. Especially women's services! They would always mess up on my specimen samples (happened twice already) and I would always have to come back. You can tell the women service's doctor doesn't a flying crap about anything aside from her paycheck. She told me my diagnosis and simply walked out. Seemed totally impatient with me asking any questions whatsoever. The worst part about coming back is the damn wait. I had to wait a whole 45min-1hr before I decide to leave! I understand it's free healthcare but you can tell most of these workers are just here for a paycheck. There is no customer service at all. They give absolute 0 shit about your well-being. I waited one month to get this appointment, So today (Thu Jan 27 2022) was my appointment with LILLIAN HARRIS, after waiting 1 hour and 30 min the assistant came in and told me that the Dr refused to see me because I tested positive for covid 1 and half year ago (Dec 2020). When I heard it, It shocked me that I tested positive on 2020 and she don't wanna see me on 2022. It's unbelievable, I never heard such a stupid thing in my life. I called and made an appointment and was given a date. I took my daughter in and walked in and stood in line. I waited in the line and the staff that helped me was very kind and was helping us. We got called in to a room. The nurse took my daughter vitals and made her feel at ease. That was done and we waited about 10 minutes later and our doctor came in and asked how my daughter was doing. She gave my daughter a check up for her 11 year old check up. Than talked to my daughter about getting her shots done. My daughter does not like shots and she talked to her about way she needed this shot. My daughter was ok with the shots and the nurse came in and gave her a shot. Than she said you are all done and you are free to go. They were nice, helpful and very informative. read more

She spent 30 min combing through my past medical history giving me an absurd lecture on drinking and driving (I've never had a DUI). She refused to sign off on my paperwork. Wow, this doctor made a subjective decision to revoke my license for a complete unrelated health issue. She should be terminated. I would honestly give this place 0 stars New reps at the front desk(I used to be a patient here for many years and my dad has been coming here for the las 15 years) now I believe they have new management and now with HORRIBLE SERVICE then to cover up their mistakes they lie on your face. Dad came in fasting for his labs, we stepped out and came back for his appointment 20 minutes before, we been here over an hour and still no room to see him Then the rep says we were calling him, how come she didn't say that when we came in to check in for his appointment.. why would you call him before his appointment it was at 9:40am but she says we were calling him at 8something, REALLY is that a new time? Rep says, well we cancel(after an hour if waiting) you have to understand some patients are late, but you still see them? What about the ones who are early, you cancel their time. Maybe this place needs better training with scheduling, why overbooking patients... service is great once you're finally in.. please bring back the nice staff to the front, they were always great. I think I've had it with this place. I used to really like this clinic, perhaps because I hardly received healthcare prior so I'm pretty easily satisfied, but now I think I'm fed up. It's a 45 minute drive for me and I've been turned away before for being 20 min late. And yet, the wait is always ridiculously long. As I type this, it's a Saturday and I had an appointment at 12:45pm. It's currently 12:50pm and the doors are locked and I don't see anyone inside. No sign out saying "gone for lunch" or anything explaining why they appear to be closed. I just think it's crazy. This has got to be the worst health center in the bay. It's located in a remote area and to my surprise the building is just a large creepy house. Doesn't even deserve a star. The treatment from this place is unbelievable. My uncle is recovering from brain surgery and his body became extremely weak. In fear that he might catch a flu or become sick, we went for a check up and flu vaccination. (This was around mid October). The lady at the front desk gives my uncle an appointment on DECEMBER 29th. What if his condition gets worse during that 2 month wait??!!! They just told us to sit down and wait until someone cancels their appointment and that is what i'am doing now sitting in the waiting room. (1hour passed...) The workers are extremely rude and literally played around with my mom who can't speak english well when they have thick spanish accents themselves. They have his medical records and files and just kept asking us questions that they can answer themselves. This wasn't the first time. My mom came here for her prescription for medicine and they kept telling her to sit down and wait, treating her like a baby. She ended up waiting 2 hours for her prescription. In simpler terms, this place is rude, prejudice, and unprofessional. Their answer to all your questions is: "Please sit down and wait." (Caution: avoid a woman named Maria. HORRIBLE!!!! I came in here when i first found out that I am pregnant and let me tell you! my experience was horrible with the Nurses and Medical assistant in the back. the front desk guy was nice and he was very helpful. I am not sure what his name is but I'm pretty sure he is the only guy there. My appointment was about 30 minutes before they close. when i sat down with the assistant who takes your info she went ahead and help me and she was very nice at first. A few minutes later she notice the time and it was 10 minutes before she needed to clock out. she kept on saying how late it was and that she needed to clock out. which I understood! i know that sometimes you lose track of time and if you have to clock out you become worried. anyway, She finally called someone from the back to take over which they did. they finally got me in and they sat me down in a room where they checked my Blood Pressure. The Assistant asked me some questions and then she receives a call on and somebody comes and gets her. Im waiting for about 10 minutes. she comes back and tells me "oh i forgot to check the pregnancy test results, ill be back." she leaves for another 10-15 minutes. she comes back and tells me "I don't think you are pregnant, look the test in negative" (I could clearly see a faint positive) i get scared and tell her that i took about 7 test at home and they were all positive and even showed her the pictures and she said "let me double check with the nurse practitioner" i could hear them talk and the nurse said "this is a clear positive" the MA comes back and tells me "you are! congrats" Another MA comes in and tells her how they had just had a lady come in for a pregnancy test and it was positive and a few days later she started bleeding. The lady went into the ER and they told her she had never been pregnant. my MA immediately said..we don't want that to happen again. I didn't think much of it. the MA said "I need to go and get some pregnancy papers" she immediately started complaining how busy she was and that she needed to go home like now. she went to get the papers and took about 10 minutes. came back and said she had forgotten the labels they put in the files. she shouted for back up!!! she called another MA and asked her to do the labels for her because she needed to leave. at that point i was frustrated. had spent a looooog time just waiting and listening to everyone complain on how they wanted to go home. it made me feel like i was on their way and they needed to get rid of me ASAP. i also wanted to leave that place ASAP nut kept on waiting on them because they kept on wasting time chatting! she Finally came back and gave me the papers and asked me "do you have any questions?" i said "no" ill i wanted was to leave that place. I have been a patient here for years. The staff is friendly courteous and sympathetic to my needs. They keep me informed about my health. The facility is spacious and clean. With the current covid pandemic they maintain spacing between patients. The staff are also bright and cheerful. The staff here is very nice and helpful. I came early and was taken early. For a community health organization, I was pretty impressed. When I got to the wellness centre I didn't know that cell phones are not allowed so security officer told me and I stepped out to make phone call but when I went inside someone was on phone multiple times right in front row in front of security officer Omar Ebart and he didn't say anything to her not to be on phone. After few minutes I saw he was talking to that person in her language seems like he knew her. Then I confronted him how come he didn't say anything to her just cuz he knows her or her language. Then security officer said he didn't notice she was on phone but the fact is he noticed her and ignored that she was on phone because he didn't want to say anything to her. read more
