Long & Foster Real Estate - Broken umbrella. Had to pay to use Icona's daily instead.

Long & Foster Real Estate

(9 reviews)

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Long & Foster's rental at 65 W 8th Street…read morein Avalon was so bad I feel compelled to share. My family rented the property for a week in August, and it was not at all what we expected. When we arrived, the house was NOT rental-ready. It was filthy. Surfaces were dirty, towels were left in the washer (we had to wash them ourselves), and there were broken items, including a glass in the dishwasher that caused my grandmother to cut her finger. My mom stepped on someone else's contact lens (none of us where contacts) We were promised a cleaning crew would come, but they never did. Beyond cleanliness issues, there were also safety hazards. Several broken boards on the deck weren't fixed until a few days into our stay, which was a risk for our children and elderly relative. The furniture was damaged in multiple rooms, and pillows were either stained or missing entirely. Long & Foster did send new pillows, but this should've been handled before we arrived. On top of that, the owner's personal items filled the closets and cabinets, so we had nowhere to unpack or store our belongings. This added to the overall feeling that the property wasn't properly prepared for renters. While we appreciated the bottle of wine and t-shirts sent as a gesture, they didn't begin to address the inconvenience and subpar conditions. We asked for a refund, but Long & Foster said they couldn't do anything because the owner wasn't responsive. I tried to dispute this as I felt it was long & Fosters responsibility but they said they couldn't do anything. It's incredibly frustrating to know that others had raised similar concerns before our stay, yet the property was still being rented without addressing the issues. This shows a lack of accountability and concern for guests' experience. While we did our best to enjoy the week, the condition of the home and the lack of meaningful response from Long & Foster made it clear that guest satisfaction is not a priority here. I strongly urge future renters to ask detailed questions and request recent photos before booking through this company.

I could not keep AC on as it would spread the Black Mold more and the windows only crack open a few inches, while some did not open at all. Imagine being allergic to mold and getting headaches, congestion, and itchy eyes and L and F couldn't care less and say they will contact the owner, that's all they can do. No follow up to emails asking for reimbursement, only a careless response that owner will offer money off if I book his condo next Summer. No thank you. Not acceptable. Oh and there were ants in the kitchen cabinet and a broken beach umbrella and stains in bedding and carpet.

The wife and I rented and small two bed room, top floor unit, for our annual family vacation. This…read morewould include two adults and two small children (under 4). The place was a complete disaster and we knew it from the moment we pulled in the driveway. The screen door screen was ripped and basically missing, which is not the greatest being that you cannot even open the door to let the fresh ocean breeze in. Or if you have two small children that you want to contain without worry. The moment we walked into the place it only got worse. The smell, it was just overpowering. I cannot accurately describe it as it changed from room to room. The living room smelled like a wet, mangy dog. Although the description clearly stated "NO PETS", this place obviously had one and it smelled like one had lived there for many years. Next, and this is the real gem of our stay. The place was infested with ants and fleas. Not like one or two here or there, but full on infestation. Literally, at night, when all were sleeping; I could hear the f*****g fleas crawling on my n*ts. Which leads me to the bed room. This was a very interesting smell indeed. It was like a very unpleasant combination of bust-off and stale Doritos. There was A/C, but they were those ancient window units that sound like a jet taking off every time they go through their cooling cycle......which.... was....constantly. Oh and the filters probably haven't been cleaned since Ronald Regan took the Presidential oath. This would just blow through dust and the smell of utter neglect throughout the place. Some amenities that clearly were stated on the specification sheet were not included. Others were broken or inoperable. Lastly, they require that you clean the place before you go (it would be nice if they actually had cleaning supplies on-site). However, they did have a vacuum cleaner there. The kicker is the place was actually dirtier after running the vacuum cleaner as the smell of whatever was picked up before now found its home back on the carpet. We talked to Sea Isle Realty about some of the issues, but they could care less. I guess we are just dumb shoobies that need to know our place; which happens to be "spend your money here and shut up", or "pack you stuff and go home". It is probably hard to not go through a company like this unless you know the home owner, so my advice is to do some reconnaissance in the winter and see what the houses are actually like before you show up. I found out the hard way that you cannot get the sense of smell through a photo.

It's clear Sea Isle Realty cares nothing about the people with whom it works. We cannot recommend highly enough that you avoid at all costs doing business with Noah and with Sea Isle Realty.

Run do not walk from this agency. We are leaving 3 days…read moreearly from our 2 week vacation. We thought perhaps the agency would work with us. The total of renting the dump is $6000 The one review btw is suspect. I don't want to give it 1 star but have to in order to post the review. The house 3211 Bayland Dr OC is truly a teardown. Everything from ratty dirty towels, filthy toaster oven, a small fire started because of the many crumbs. The grill is dirty partially works. There are no window shades on the 2 twin bdrms are flimsy don't keep the light out. There is a construction site next door. I had asked before renting what was on either side of the home and was there and would there be , no to both questions. What are we next to? A construction site. In fairness the construction did stop after the 1st day, however sitting in the back yard not appealing as we're looking at the site. And yes we saw pictures of the listing, as we all know none of this shows up in the pictures. The Powers Group offered to look into another place. What a laugh, we had unpacked 2 weeks worth of house hold items and clothing Restitution should have been offered. I called and sent a text, all have gone mia. We are 70 and 73 not going to be inconvenienced period. The owner should be ashamed. When I contacted her and sent pictures she put it back on Jennifer at Powers. When the owner Rebecca Gushue first heard about the construction she replied " I'll work with you." She too has disappeared. Shame on you. We are working with VRBO, our cc companies, and various agencies.

Terrible customer service from Alex Powers who is an agent with The Powers Group at Keller Williams…read moreJersey Shore. After our VRBO booking was confirmed we received an email directly from The Powers Group requesting more information or our booking would not be honored. I have since been told by VRBO that once they charge their fee (they did) that the host technically cannot cancel. Regardless I then received a voice mail from Alex telling me if I did not respond by 5pm they would cancel my booking. I immediately responded to the original email with the information requested. When I checked VRBO this morning my booking was gone. I tried numerous times to contact Alex to confirm the status but he has been avoiding my calls. When he finally did pick up he abruptly said he would call me back "at the end of the day" and hung up without giving me a chance to speak. I tied home again and he again picked up and said would call me at 5:30 and hung up again without letting me get a word in. Totally unprofessional and very similar a situation described in the review section of the The Powers Group, with Keller Williams Jersey Shore Facebook page.

We checked into the property and found the unit dirty, hair all over the bathrooms, had ants and back deck faced a boat yard. I alerted the realtor Lisa Taylor that the unit was dirty on Monday morning and she treated me like one of her kids...admonished me for not telling her on Sunday and told me that we had to wait till Friday for it to be cleaned. We requested a possible property move... no luck. Shocked, my husband and i began discussing our options to leave and find another property that might accommodate our two week vacation. Our realtor Lisa came over and sprayed the unit with an ant spray and told us the unit was not that dirty.... Realtors at the shore points have been getting away with "grin and bear it" customer service forever. At this point, we were given no choice but to clean the 3 floor townhome ourselves or to end our vacation early. I even spoke with Allen Dechert directly in an effort to get some kind of results....His response was that is hands were tied and the owners of the unit would not give us a refund. Never once was any effort or consideration given to the facts and that our vacation was spoiled and $$$ waisted or to bring in a cleaning person to remediate the problem. My husband and left on day 5 of our vacation due to an incoming gale/tropical storm which threatened to create flooding and 60 mile wind gusts. So, far we are denied any relief. I even stopped by the office to have a conversation with Dechert upon dropping off keys. He said, "so sorry for your troubles."
