My husband and I were recommended to Lissette and Simone by Donna. They are both lovely women who truly care about babies. Lissette was our night doula for the first 3 weeks right after our son was born, and Simone was our night doula after Lissette's contract ended. They both were able to teach us "how to be parents" because we had no idea :). They also both were able to impart knowledge about how to care for our child through different developmental stages (sleeping through the night, crawling, eating solids, walking, etc.) We found having a night doula to be an extremely helpful and comforting experience. We have been able to have more quality time with our son during the day because of them (instead of being completely sleep deprived). If you are on the fence about whether to employ a night doula for your baby, I highly recommend you jump off of it and hire a night doula from Newborn Nurtury--it is definitely a worthwhile investment. read more

We enjoyed our first postpartum doula (Edilia) so much that we went back to Newborn Nurtury for additional help after our contract ran out. Donna was able to set us up to work with Shazy several days per week, and it's been wonderful working with her at this stage. Shazy's help and advice was essential in getting our breastfed baby to sleep 11 hours uninterrupted during the night by 12 weeks!!We were able to accomplish this without ever having to 'cry it out.' Shazy also rearranged her schedule several times to come early so my husband and I could get out for some much needed alone time. I have full confidence leaving the house with our baby in her care - which is not something I could say about just anyone at this stage. She is incredibly sweet, energetic, knowledgeable, and so good with our boy. He really lights up when he hears her voice! She's also so helpful with baby related tasks like washing bottles, pump parts etc., always arrives on time, and is simply just a joy to be around. I can't recommend her enough! They say it takes a village - Newborn nurtury has been mine. Not only did Donna find us two wonderful postpartum doulas, she even came to help me herself one afternoon while my husband was traveling for two weeks. Marianella and Shazy are AMAZING and I can't say enough wonderful things about them! Both doulas helped out with my twins at night when they were born until they were four months. My babies were preemies so a ton of work in the beginning, having to eat every three hours during the night. Marianella and Shazy took amazing care of them and made sure all of their needs were met. I'm a first time mom and had help from the ladies at Newborn Nurtury for the first two months. I cannot stress enough how amazing all my doulas (Dana, Melissa, Cami, Jorgina, and Andrea) were and how crucial it was to have them postpartum. Without them, I wouldn't have been able to be physically and mentally where I am today and I feel so grateful for all the support they gave us. When I came back from the hospital, I was at an all time low due to sleep deprivation, anemia (had excessive blood loss post delivery), pain from breastfeeding and postpartum fatigue. It's no question that I was able to regain my strength and sanity all thanks to the day and night team Donna put together for me. Dana - Dana was with us throughout the whole two months and words can't express how thankful I am for her for sharing with us all the baby knowledge we have now. Our first day was when I got back from the hospital and I'll never forget the feeling of bliss and gratitude when she asked me, "Would you like for me to watch the baby while you take a nap or a shower?" I never knew how important it was to take some time out of the day to dedicate to myself and I'm glad I learned that early on. From that day, she taught us how to swaddle diaper, feed the baby a bottle, bathe, and more. Not only is Dana great with newborns, but she also has a great gift as an educator! Her recommendations of mama and baby items were extremely helpful as well. Finally, I loved, loved her energy - positive and reassuring! Melissa - As a lactation specialist, Melissa provided me numerous good and helpful tips on latching and feeding positions. I had such a painful time at the hospital and was dreading every feed because pain would shoot through my body when my daughter latched. Melissa was able to quickly help deepen her latch and gave me good tips of how to drain my breasts to prevent clogged ducts and mastitis. She also made me golden milk, energy bites, and ginger turmeric tea which were all so nutritious and delicious! Cami - Cami was our first night doula before she had to move onto her next in person client. She had SUCH a bright and positive personality and that made me look forward to the nights. I really appreciated her enthusiasm and I could tell that she really loved being with our baby just by how she interacted with her every night. Cami also made us enchiladas and sweet coconut rice which were great to have in the freezer for a quick lunch or dinner when we didn't have time to cook ourselves something. She also offered shoulder and back massages which were so relaxing to have before I went to bed. I remember that my shoulders were so tense and tired because I wasn't used to BF and holding a baby so Cami was a total lifesaver! Jorgina - Jorgina was such a gentle and loving doula - I loved her warm energy! When my baby went for 5 days without pooping, I became a little worried and she gave me advice that prune juice may help. Sure enough, my daughter had a massive poop on the night I chugged down prune juice. She also taught me how to give a good baby massage - my daughter loves my massages now whereas before she used to cry so much. Andrea - I loved how observant Andrea was. Her notes that she made during the night were very helpful and I looked forward to reading them every morning to see how my baby did each night. She also made us Brazilian inspired food and we loved them!! I read an article yesterday that said, "Research shows that there are 5 universal postpartum needs: an extended rest period, nourishment, support from wise women, loving touch, and contact with nature." My doulas were able to provide me the first three (four actually including Cami's massage) and I am so, so grateful for all the support they gave me. Finally, although we weren't able to meet in person, I appreciated Donna so much for making sure all my needs were met and for making sure my doulas were good matches for me. She has a great team of doulas and I would recommend them 200% to any new mamas who are considering getting day and/or night help!!! read more

We have worked with Donna for both of our girls and I cannot recommend Newborn Nurtury more! This time, we worked with Marianella for our newborn. After my first, I struggled with PPD/PPA. Marianella was so reassuring in making sure I was just as ok as our newborn! While I was not able to breastfeed our first, this time I was able to combo feed and Marianella was knowledgeable on all things baby- from swaddles to formulas to combo feeding and more- and encouraging in helping me figure it all out! She would text us on days we did not have her to check-in. What warmed our hearts more than anything was how loving she was to our toddler during this big transition! Our 3.5 year old truly fell in love with Marianella, and was so very sad to see her go to her next family. there are not enough words or enough stars to reflect how superb this company is! I was referred to Donna (the owner) through a friend a couple of months before my baby was born. I knew that I needed help however I did not know at that time what exactly I would need because this was my first pregnancy and I do not know many people with children. Donna was an absolute angel and got to know me and my needs and placed me with the most perfect Doula named Edilia who was at my home the day we got home from the hospital. From that day on Edilia has become part of the family and at only 7 weeks has my daughter sleeping in five hour stretches at night. i would recommend that any moms looking for this service contract their nighttime doula for at least four months just to be safe. we started with only two months but have extended for another two months just to continue the sleep conditioning that we have started. once we realized that we wanted more time unfortunately our doula Edilia had another contract she was starting so I reached out to Donna again and she introduced me to Diana. Yet again another complete rockstar! And then just last week I reached out to Donna because we needed someone to help us during the day and she introduced us to Terry - basically an angel from heaven here to save us and help put our baby on a schedule during the day. Before I had kids, I had no idea how incredibly scary it would be to leave my babies in the care of someone else. After having a bad experience with a night nurse, one of my friends referred me to Newborn Nurtury and I am SO happy they did. Donna, who is the owner is nothing short of amazing. After finding out my little guy was breech and we needed to schedule a C section my 37th week of pregnancy, I panicked knowing we had no family or friends nearby to help with my recovery. Luckily a friend from NY had a cousin out here who knew Donna from Newborn Nurtury. I filled out the surgery on Donna's website and she responded right away with a recommendation based on my preferences and needs (Terese - Glo Doula) for our family. We originally planned to have her help us for a few nights during our son's first two weeks of life, but we kept extending and extending our contract with Nessa because she was so wonderful and her help was so incredible. As first time parents, she gave us much needed rest and support, but, more importantly, she taught us so, so much about caring for a newborn, and for our son specifically. I genuinely believe our son had a happier, healthier beginning to his life because we had Nessa's help--to say that is invaluable is a massive understatement. We (like most anxious, Type-A parents) took several classes on parenting before Lalen was born, but we learned more from Nessa in a few days, talking with us for a half hour before we went to bed and sharing her observations about him in the morning, than we did in all of those parenting classes combined. It was so useful that the other day I found myself saying to a friend who is expecting that she should save her money on parenting classes and just hire Nessa instead! I could go on and on, but to sum up, having had Nessa in our lives is one of the very best things to have happened to us and Lalen--we feel so lucky to have found her! read more
