I asked to open and count them right in front of her. She promised over and over again that they were all there. She said she remembered counting them herself. (My fault to not go with my instinct). When I get in the car, I opened it to see and it turns out, they aren't "91jumbo size color dominos", but old regular sized white and black dominos! Even if you didn't know the game, the tin box said very clear what was in it and even has a picture of what they are supposed to look like. I took them immediately back in before leaving the parking lot. I explained that this wasn't even what I purchased and didn't open it up because of her personal assurance. Nothing but a "sorry, but no returns". Even though I expressed that it wasn't a return because I didn't like it Or it was damaged. I'm returning it because she lied about counting it and never opened it to clearly see it wasn't the right set or she didn't know what she was looking at and just thought dominos. My advice, don't trust "oh I personally counted myself". Open it, inspect it, count it. Because they won't make good on a sale that they even guarantee. I know it's a thrift store and you take chances, but it's just bad business to say you did something and in actuality didn't do it properly or at all. I didn't need an apology on their mistake. I needed a correction on a bad sale.

The people who work at the SPCA have already established a bond with these cats. The SPCA paperwork I signed verifies that if it doesn't work out, to bring the cat back within at least a week, so it is not attached in any way. The cat kept hissing and wasn't happy. It was scared of me and I felt it wasn't a good fit. I returned it within a week, like I was told to, and all they asked was if it had bitten anyone. It did not, and I was not going to keep a cat that was not ready for adoption. Since I worked a lot of overtime, breaking in a wild cat seemed impossible at the time. I guess I should've just let it go out into the wild, for they black marked me forever for returning it, and when I tried to adopt a cat from them a few years later, they made an excuse that the cat was sick, and that I was definitely getting the cat, once it was well. When I called up to see how the cat was doing, they told me a bunch of lies of how I could not adopt the cat. I was so shocked when they said I adopted many cats and even dogs, and returned them all. I was crying at this point, for I only ever adopted one cat from them and returned it. I was allowed to return it, if it didn't work out. I explained how I never ever adopted dogs from them nor anywhere else, and how I only returned one young cat to them. They had the nerve to tell me there are plenty of other adoption agencies to go to. They were refusing to ever let me adopt there again. They even refused anyone from my family to adopt, once they realized they were trying to adopt the very same cat for me. Mind you, my family did adopt a cat from the very same SPCA just before I had, and never returned it. How can a place like this be so cruel to not let an animal go to a loving home? I have since adopted three other cats in my lifetime and they all had/ have a great life and a loving home. I owned a dog with papers, and have taken care of many other dogs and cats during my life, growing up into adulthood. It sickens my heart to see how cruel people can be. I even delivered their mail when I worked as a carrier for the USPS. I would love to donate pet food, but how can I support an organization that doesn't support me or the welfare of animals. I love all animals and do give to other, more appreciative organizations. Animals need help, and this SPCA does not do that at all.

The Bronx Defenders is a non-profit organization that provide a service in defending people's cases...basically like lawyers/ attorneys. They help represent people who cannot afford the services of lawyers. I can tell you that the individuals that work here do 100% care about what they do. I remember doing my intern in the summer of 2008, where I several other interns, and a few of the Bronx Defenders went to several communities and interviewed tenants in those neighborhoods. At the end we presented our findings to the people at the Bronx Defenders. It was a great experience overall, because we all met different people, as well as learned about their stories. I have to admit, some of the people that we met in the communities were a bit crazy, but interesting to no limit. Some people invited us into their house, which was a bit scary to do, because I did not know them, and they did not know us. I don't know if they were skeptical of us or not, but to invite us in their house...I would never do that - no way possible..lol. Great experiences.

There is a Michelin starred restaurant on the property as well. The spacious grounds are a treat to walk. They rotate the location of the animals so it's a pleasant surprise to happen upon them. We saw goats, pigs, and cows. The pathways have gravel, but they were not super rough. We had two strollers with us and no issues pushing them along. They even had binoculars for the kids to use. We did arts and crafts, and all the kids had a wonderful time. The grounds are open to the public, as there is a hiking path smack dab in the center. There were plenty of people walking through. We spied a cute little café, where one could sit and order breakfast and coffee. I define wouldn't mind stopping here after a run, to have a bite to eat. Blue Hill Restaurant is here, boasting an elegant farm-to-table pre-fixe menu that changes season to season. It's pricey but offers a one-of-a-kind experience, either optional tour of the grounds. This is a beautiful venue that would be an exceptional wedding location. I definitely want to come back and visit, perhaps have dinner. Looks pricey but the menus are intriguing. When visiting, check out their silo. The echo is awesome and it's a great photo op.
