Came here to buy my nephew a Christmas gift. This Newbury comics is part of a mall. I grew up on the original Newbury comics in Newbury st in Boston so this comic book store has a special place in my heart. However, the vibe has changed over the years and this location feels different than the one in Boston. This one feels more like a gift shop than the nostalgic collectors store that I grew up with. Anyways, got some pop figures for my nephew. They have a large collection. Staff seem friendly. Overall, I always find the stuff in Newbury to be interesting, especially gifting teenagers. This time I saw their large collection of Squishmallows, and had to take one home! The staff is always friendly here, and this is one of my favorite stores in the mall. read more

I'm not thrilled that Newbury Comics moved out of Burlington Square into the Burlington Mall. I can see they will get a lot more customers, and that is good in the long run. But it also feels like they sold a piece of their soul to some Perky Mall Devil. The store is too bright, and I'm sure they had to sanitize their inventory a bit to move in. But the biggest sin - to me anyway - is that they significantly reduced their inventory of CDs and DVDs. I know, I know, I'm old school; I prefer to have an actual disc in my grubby little hands as opposed to the new way of the world, digital downloads. And yes, I concede that in the long run, it makes sense to occupy a store with actual merchandise that doesn't have to be digitized and/or downloaded. Please just don't do this type of move too often with the rest of your stores... okay??? read more

I'm giving this place one more star than the one in Natick... why? Because despite severely reducing their music and movie section, they still have a decent metal section... barely, but I can still find what I want there. The movie section is only about twice the size of the one in Natick... and if we're going to use that store as the scale, you're in trouble. Little by little, CDs, DVDs, Vinyls, Comics and novelties are being pushed further and further back and are having their spaces reduced and for what? CLOTHING!!! Wow, another clothing store in the mall? NO SHIT! I mean hey it's not like there are at least 30 different ones in each mall, most with higher quality clothing right? Okay, coming back to serious here... Newbury comics used to be a treasure hunt. You go in, you find rare or unusual things in both novelties as well as CDs and DVDs. Some of the rarest CDs I own came from a NC at one point or another... and I used to be able to get them there for dirt cheap. (Walking out of the Norwood NC with a stack of 10 CDs for about $60 was not uncommon.) However stores that have moved into the malls like Natick, Marlborough, and Burlington have really sold their souls to the devil. They don't carry as much of the edgy stuff that they used to and these stores are pale comparisons... if the one in Norwood and the one on Newbury Street ever fall to this... I'll have truly lost my last non-online bastion for buying DVDs and CDs... that will really suck! read more

This location has a pretty good selection of movies, toys and music. I used to visit this store every now and then when I lived nearby but I have only been here twice since I moved away. The staff is usually friendly and knowledgeable of everything they have in stock. They have a lot movie, tv, comic and game paraphenalia (stuffed animals, mugs, toys, shirts, etc.) to browse through. You will find many items that make you think "Wow! This is really cool. I wish I had one of these" or "why the heck would they make this and what type of person would buy it?" They also have a large selection of used videogames and DVDs including anime. read more

There isn't anything too special about this particular store... other than proximity to the burlington mall. I love this place simply for the fact that I could find any trendy nerdy toy imaginable. The nerdy side of me was in heaven when i saw various toys from dr. who, simpsons, futurama, marvel comics, dc comics, etc. Also a fun selection of anime toys. They did have Magic the gathering cards and a whole bunch of pokemon toys. So really, if its dorky, childlike, and you don't want to buy it from a KB toys, you can fight w/ the 16 year olds over it at this place. They did have CDs...but ... well..I don't shop for them, so i can't really comment on them. Also, pretty nice comic selection if you are in to that. (and graphic novels) read more

All of the locations seem to stock pretty much the same stuff. This one is not as huge as the Newbury street one I think. I love going here for great reading material, music and DVDs and just fun stuff that no one needs but you really really must have and buy. read more

I recently stopped in at the Newbury Comics in Burlington after not having visited that location in several years. I used to work out that way, and shopped there regularly, but now I find the area a pain in the neck to get to. But I was out that way for something else already, so I dropped in. I was surprised at how well the store has held up. I'm used to visiting the Saugus and Peabody stores and being disappointed, so I assumed that it would be no different in another suburb store like Burlington. But to my delight, a good section of the floor space was still devoted to CDs and DVDs, and I found several CDs that I would have thought I'd have to travel in to Harvard Square or Newbury Street to get my hands on. I did something I haven't done in Saugus or Peabody for years-- I ended up having to put stuff back because I found too many things I wanted. Good selection, good prices, helpful staff-- doesn't get much better than that. I still dislike driving out to Burlington, but this store makes it worth it. [Edit, 10/31/14: Since I wrote this review, this location has moved into the Burlington Mall. Until I can visit the new store, I obviously can't adjust my rating, but it's worth stating that IMHO, every Newbury Comics location that has moved into a mall has gone downhill afterward.] read more

I would rank this Newbury Comics as second to the store on Newbury street. They have a nice selection of new and used DVDs (horror DVD collections are excellent). Good selection of CDs (if you still buy those). Their vinyl collection needs to be spruced up with more space (which makes the Newbury Street Boston store much better). If you are getting the latest album or DVD released you should go here first for the best price. read more

I would say this is more 3.5 starts than 3. I have been a loooong time customer of this place and have always enjoyed shopping here. Way back in that innocent era known as the 90's, I would frequent this place on a weekly basis. Back then we had to buy our music in stores! on CD's!! or god help us cassettes! Back then you could always count on Newbury to have better prices than any other place, particularly the giant rip off known as Tower Records. Nowadays when I do go to Newbury Comics its usually for a DVD or something non music related. Its sad as this place doesn't seem as fun as it used to be. Its a little more "chain" now, but still the best music store in this area. I have never been really enamored of some of the people who work there though. I am not there for you to judge how cool the CD or DVD I am buying. So what if I am buying the 4th different reissue of Who's Next? I still say they have better prices than any other retailer when it comes to movies and music, and you can get a good deal on used DVD's if that does it for you. I bought a bunch of James Bond movies that had been reissued 4-5 years ago, for like $7 a piece. Have a wicked good time. read more

I don't typically write reviews, but this store is so great it made me want to mention it. Reasonable music selection with excellent customer service. The staff is extremely friendly and when perusing the records, I'm always asked several times if I need help finding anything. When so many record stores are going under, this store and Newbury Comics in general does an excellent job of reminding you why you should shop and support independent record shops. This place has everything they have an extensive collection of compact discs also has great selection of cards, and possibly the best selection of graphic novels. With the record stores going down this is my only place to get CDs and this business has great service also most people there know what there doing and that's rare to find in a store these days. read more

Newbury Comics is not about the comics. It is about the music. New and Used CD stores used to be on every corner. These guys step it up and have all the other crap like cards, posters, amazing concert/movie DVDs and on and on. I recently moved to Southern California and there is really nothing like Newbury Comics. Maybe I will get lucky and find something soon. I still love cds and vinyl...god help me. read more

Been going to these guys since the early 90's, I really love the store. Stick with a true alternative (a dying breed!) and stop at Newbury.

I was at this place all the time growing up. This location is the closest to where I live, so I would drive here on the weekends with my friends throughout high school. Now I download so much music that I don't really purchase CD's anymore. It's kind of a drag. I always enjoy coming here though, especially for the fantastic DVD selection. I can spend hours in the DVD section alone. Many movies you can't really find in "regular" stores, the Burlington Newbury Comics usually has in stock. I've found some rare stuff here. I bought my first punk videos here (Minor Threat at The 9:30 Club, Flipside, etc...). They just have such a great selection of music DVD's which I totally dig. Newbury Comics always seems to have the dope magazines and books too. I always hit this place up during the holidays to get funny cards and gifts. They sell a lot of crap too of course, but there is something for everybody. T-shirts, video games, toys, jewelry, and so forth. My only gripe is that they hardly carry vinyl anymore. I think the only locations that still carry records are Harvard Square, Boston, and whatever. I'm super bummed I can't get records here anymore. What the fuck is up with that? read more

I come to Newbury comics probably twice a month. Mostly to browse. Once in a while there's a sale on hardcover comics that I'm interested in. I'm a big comic book guy so that's my main area of focus when I come in here. What I like about their comics here is that there are lots of variant covers available. The bad part is the comics are almost, always in really bad shape. The comic racks used has a front barrier so when people handle the books, they would put creases in the spine. This is the reason I mostly browse or go for hardcovers from here. Besides comics I browse the toys they have. I usually get these toys as presents for other people, and there are lots to choose from. There are stuff animals, bobble heads, action figures, gag toys, and board games to name a few. They also carry music CDs, movies, video games, T-Shirts, and hats. The store is always clean, and the employees always greet you and ask if you need assistance. I always feel welcomed here and that's why I always come back. If you're in the area, drop by and browse. You'll never know what you'll find. Maybe you'll find that fluffy unicorn you've been looking for. read more

I've been visiting Newbury Comics for quite a while now, probably since 2000. This store has a nice mix of different products, and I think it seems clean and bright because it recently moved into the mall from the shopping plaza it was previously in. Floor staff was kind of grumpy but cashier was friendly and nice. Comic / graphic novel selection could be better, but if you're a serious comic book reader you're probably better served going to New England Comics or Comicopia. Newbury Comics is good to pick up something to read and at the same time walk out with panda socks and a cartoon kitten T-shirt like I just did. read more

This is the one of my favorite Newbury Comics locations. You can always find something hilariously random there that will just make your day. The actual comic section is just isolated to one corner of the store, but they usually have that Wednesday's comics and are a tremendous help when you can't find the one you need. I moseyed in there one weekend and couldn't find my comic, so an employee checked on the computer and even helped me comb through the racks looking for a misplaced copy. We still didn't find it, but that's not the point! The atmosphere and employees both are great here. If you're anything like me, you won't be disappointed in the least. read more

Since they moved into the burlington mall they've basically changed a lot. There dvd selection is a joke...my personal collection is bigger than what they have to offer for sale, it's also all over priced...used dvds priced higher than best buy sells for brand new...such a scam. read more

They have some "interesting" stuff here. Posters, music, weird chairs etc. Their music is definitely cheaper than Tower Records which is 100 feet away. I'd go here if you know what you want and you want to save a few dollars. read more

I had to borrow my neighbors computer to send this. I am sending this to say that on my last visit I had the pleasure of being attended to by a young woman named Cilla.
