The teachers and staff have relations with each other which is quite obvious and only 1 out of 10 staff members is usually a nice person. Those nice people typically get pushed out or screwed over. If you are not white I highly suggest you go somewhere else. A lot of the "academic opportunities" are given because of status. Punishments are also given out because of status. If you do not have parents who pay then you do. Besides that majority of the children who go there with money from mommy and dadums get away with almost everything they do. Any doctor or lawyer parents will have the staff on their hands and knees. The so called social workers they hire for the "mental health center" that they apparently really care about, just push your child off to a hospital. When you do come asking for somewhere to sit for a while due to whatever mental health reason they typically deny you and all of the sudden have no availability. It's quite upsetting especially because my child isn't white or straight, to see her get pushed around all those years by stingy adults. This is three village not the Hamptons, this is real life not the outsiders.

Secondly, I can apparently do something for no reason but the bullies they protect are a different story. In Junior high it was a daily thing. Even teachers like Mr.Mutter, science in Gelinas, would purposely lose my homework or projects and claim I never handed them in. In 9th i was put on home schooling, because it's easier to blame the victim in the eyes of the TVCSD. They didn't punish any of the bullies, just me. To this day I have to pay for going to the school. I take anti depression meds and anxiety meds. All which came from these schools. Lets also not forget how over paid most teachers are here and the little care they have in teaching.

We aren't rating this school one-star because we hate school in general- it's because this school is actually very, very flawed. The point system, in my opinion, is ridiculous- this school degrades you so badly that you can't even walk in the hallways by yourself unless you're in eighth grade AND level 2. The level system goes like this Level 1- Average of under 80 points a day Level 2- Average of 80-94 points a day Level 3- Average of 95 points a day Thing is, you can go from level 3 to level 1 in a week, and I think that is very unfair. And, to be honest, the level system feels like a hierarchy. Although you can say that level 1s are treated wrong because, well, they are level 1 for a reason- you'd be wrong. The point system is irrelevant to a lot of students anyways. And I'm not biased- this is coming from a level 3. Also, there are a lot of bullies here. Not in my class, but there are in other classes. There are a lot of bigoted kids here and the staff doesn't seem to do anything about it. If you try to defend yourself, you're going down a level, and this is a really terrible thing, because there are many depressed kids here. I've never been to ALR or bir, so I don't have much to say about that, but I can say that there have been multiple occasions in which staff has used physical restraint. This may be legal but it still isn't a good thing, and staff goes too far. They broke the wrist of somebody in my class and according to a review, another student from two years ago. Please don't have your kid go to this school! It does not help with mental health- it makes it worse. I've been here for barely three months, and I have way too many negative things to say about this place. Another thing is that externalized behavioral issues are treated differently than those with internalized anxiety, and some guidance counselors don't care about one students problem as it isn't as bad as another students.

My children have been thriving in this environment and LOVE going to school. The structured educational practices the Starks instilled creates character and confidence the children need as they begin to appreciate this solid foundation of learning to enrich their minds as they embrace the journey of a well rounded education. My kids start school this week and they are super excited about what this year has to offer. They wondered what projects, performances, activities, the teachers have prepared and how they will be picked to participate with classmates. He had a tough time transitioning and eventually we got him to go for a period of 3 months without tears. 6 mos later after winter break, he was horrified going. He screamed, cried and they would call me to speak to him because of how bad it was in hopes to calm him. They would remove him from the class and send him with the director who he had no idea of, in order for the teacher to just continue to teach. It obviously would get bad for any child to go with a stranger. They would then call me to pick him early. I tried to reach out to his teacher multiple times throughout the year in terms of communication and it was extremely poor. The only time I'd get good communication would be if they wanted me to pick him up early ( also stressful for a working parent). In the end, the new director spoke to us and we decided it best to withdraw him. I reached out to teacher to get in touch as to what the heck happened but she wouldn't respond until the director intervened. HORRIBLE SCHOOL and HORRIBLE COMMUNICATION. Do not send your kid here unless he or she knows how to fully speak and even then, they could care less about your child. I was told to ask his doctor about separation anxiety lol. I'm convinced something happened there because he went to a new school shortly after and was thriving. Unfortunately I won't ever know what since my son couldn't properly speak and the teacher was terrible in terms of communicating.
