The nursery hours are 8am - 6pm, with an extra charge being incurred for late pickups. Charges are in line with other nurseries and childminders in the area, although seem to increase at a higher rate than is fair. Additional fundraising events took place over the year, which I objected to since fees were already high enough. The nursery itself is a converted house on Wellshot Drive in Cambuslang, just yards from the main doctors surgery. The staff are friendly and seem to get on well with the children. The premises are reasonably clean and secure from people just wandering in. There are a wide variety of activities for the children and regular outings. Sounds ideal! Our problems started with outings in the local area that I was not informed of. All of the children would go for a day out to the soft play or local park and the parents wouldn't know where they were, which can be a problem if you have a family emergency and need to pick up your child before time. The second problem I had with this nursery is that they sometimes didn't change dirty nappies in a timely manner, leaving my little one with a very sore bottom. Also, on one occasion my son was left with a 16 year old work experience girl with no supervision. Finally, and really the straw that broke my back, was that despite being yards from the doctors surgery and assurances that if there was an emergency they would take the child directly to the surgery, they failed to do so and failed to contact me when my son awoke from a nap with blue fingers and lips, stating that they didn't feel this was anything to worry about. Ironically, on the day he was due to leave the nursery I was called to come and get him because he had a loose stool! This nursery is now under new management and may be better managed nowI hope it isbut for the reasons stated I couldn't recommend it. I've given it two stars because I believe the staff are committed and the care is reasonable when there are no complications. I think management were to blame and there is now new management.

I found the Hawthorn Walk branch to be ideal, all of the staff are well mannered and well spoken, and my son still asks for one of his carers from there after leaving 3 months ago. The children had busy days, playing inside and out, had regular "messy time" and went for walks around the area. They also taught the children about brushing their teeth, and my son made some firm friends. The toys here are lovely wooden and high quality, and the babies and tweenies are in one big room together although they are kept separated by a knee high fence. Each keyworker was allocated 3 toddlers, and there were always the right amount of staff per children no matter what time of day I dropped in to pick my wee one up. The only critisism I might have is that the development booklet at the end of my sons time here seemed to have been completed to tick a box, and photos had been taken to illustrate developmental milestones etc, even although they didn't actually relate to the photos. Also my son had lots of good photos taken during his time there, and I didn't get a copy of any despite asking. I've not been quite so impressed with the Wellshot Drive Nursery, but since my son hasn't been there very long I don't think it fair to comment yet, and maybe it's not bad just different.

My favourite event is the booksale when they flog off old books from the library at bargain prices. This happens around twice a year and I'm always first in the queue as I'm a total bookworm and like nothing better than getting my mitts on a good read. There's also a tree planted outside which is permanently lit up commemorate the 22 people who were killed in the Clarkston gas explotion of 1971.

The building is huge, with lots of different rooms and even a small theatre. The work they do here with young people aged 12 to 25 is amazing and well needed in the area. Nevertheless, I've spent many a happy three hour block in this wee corner of Maryhill, and the studio is in a good spot, handy for buses and has lots of parking out front, something that studios struggle with! The guys running this place seem to be there round the clock, and are a terribly obliging bunch. They make an excellent cuppa too, and if you're lucky and the kitchen is up and running, you may get a roll and "squerr sausage". With plenty of equipment, a good range of rooms and recording facilities, should you want them, I would heartily recommend these guys for your rehearsing needs. Bonus info: due to their proximity to the BBC Comedy Unit, you may occasionally see Gary: Tank Commander's sister's car in the car park.

I routinely clear out my clothes year to year and have handed in a few bundles of clothes here and happily at that. There are also clothes to buy in here, but they are hit and miss. They do however stock a reasonable selection of books and I have picked up a few for my Dad over the years who assumes cost me £10-£15. Oh how wrong he is. Warm friendly place that is rarely empty.

I was also very pleased to see that it's a very good place to buy wools and yarn of different colours, and a full range of sewing threads and accessories very useful indeed (I hadn't realised that there was anywhere in Largs where I could buy these things). There are also secondhand clothes, books and DVDs. The lady who was working in there was very friendly. I shall visit again soon!

A tremendous shop for a tremendous cause, the Panopticon charity shop exists to pull funds for the…read moreold Panopticon theatre in Glasgow to be restored. Full of curiosities, oddities and rarities, the Panopticon shop is a must see for lovers of vintage fashion, and a great pit stop if you're looking for a retro bargain. Expect to see anything from gramaphones, WW2 gas masks, old dusty books and vintage postcards in here. The staff have made a fantastic effort to turn the back of the shop into a vintage treasure trove, with scores of second hand clothes being displayed from endless rails. There are some real finds to be grabbed in here and at times it feels more like a museum than a shop - the items have weathered the sands of time well! Most importantly of all, it has seemed to raise the profile of the Panopticon music hall, and has undeniably been part of the intricate and successful plan to bring it back to life. After visiting the grand old building, turn the corner and turn back time by visiting here - a vintage store at half the price!

My stop was a quick one; we popped in for a speedy browse before heading to kick off our southside charity shop crawl at The Corner Shop on Dukes Road. I so wish I could have stayed longer, but the agenda was second-hand shopping in Dennistoun and a busy day loomed ahead. It's a little bit hectic, a little bit tight on space and a little bit thrown-together but it's really the kind of shop which merits a half hour browse, as there's lots to see. So, I only had time for a quick look-see, but that was just enough to have me excited for my next visit, and a proper browse.
