Summertime camping in North Cascades is booked, so finding this place was a gem! Location is good. It's not too far from the park. They have showers and toilets. This is a luxury! Our spot for our campervan was level. All we had to do was roll up for the night and head out in the morning for the day. We plan to come back if camping is full in the park again.

This was the shortest trail available on AllTrails within the North Cascades National Park, Washington. With that being said, the trail felt long with a ~2.5 mile steady forest incline alongside the mountain. Trail was mostly a narrow rocky dirt path. The views were stunning once the trail opens up out of the forest! Large parking area at the trailhead with additional parking on the side of dirt road. Restroom available at the parking lot. The last ~12 miles were mostly unpaved road with a few potholes near the end. The North Cascades NP Wilderness Info Center was the closest visitor center with magnets, located ~1 hour from the trailhead. I'm not sure if the sheets were changed from the prior stay, or whomever stayed before us with a dog, but they were covered in dog hair. The same dog hair that was all over the floor as if no one vacuumed. The bathroom had ants and dirt emerging from the cracks in the tile. The kitchen didn't have a single clean glass, dish or silverware but there was also no dish soap to clean anything you used. If you are desperate and need somewhere to stay close to the park, then you could probably make it work. But if we were to come back, I'd stay further out in Anacortes or one of the coastal towns and drive in. Unless some serious improvements are made, the price is not worth it, go elsewhere.

There seem to be folks living there - this is common we are finding - and their rigs can be a little rough looking but it didn't affect our stay. It's in Marblemount which is tiny but has some stores and one restaurant. The only concerns we had were 1) our neighbor who we think lived there but was never present ran their AC 24/7 which caused our electricity to turn off when we used our AC. The camp hosts were helpful in responding to this but with two rigs using one 30 amp power station it was a little dicey. 2) We were in space 17 with a 37 ft class A. This was an oddly situated space as when we had neighbors on one side we faced each other so that our picnic table fire pit etc were not separated by either of our RVs. This was kinda challenging for privacy and was especially challenging as both of us had dogs that we liked to hook up outside. This was impossible as the dogs could watch to each others sites while hooked to their long leashes. This caused us to stay inside our rv for the last few days of our stay. But for camp hosts friendliness, work ethic and helpfulness it should get 100 stars !!!

Approximately 8.2 miles round trip 1900 feet elevation gain, with the highest point 4900 feet. I do recommend getting there early, before 9am, as the parking lot is very small and fills quickly! 4 stars because of the crowds. The trail starts downhill which is a confidence booster especially when you are backpacking. But what goes down, must come up! The last mile is probably what classifies this hike as hard. Hiking up, over loose gravel and boulders and up to almost 5000 feet elevation is difficult for us non-Colorado living people. On the trail you cross many small creek beds that were almost all dried up when we went here at the end of the summer. There is plenty of water at the lake for water source. There are multiple well groomed areas for tents along the trail uphill from the lake. I appreciated these spots at night when the mosquitoes came out and we're a nuisance (only when getting water). Speaking of night... do dress for cold weather! You do get the breeze coming off of Shuksan's glaciers. Very little salmon berries left on the main trail but plenty of huckleberries left. Night time is beautiful. The sky is completely full of stars and the sound of waterfalls coming out of the glaciers is relaxing. No campfires allowed at the lake. Pack out trash and human and animal waste. Trailhead provides blue bags for this.

Definitely bring a spare lure; our first attempt, we had to cut the line as it got snagged on some rocks. Saw a lot of people on the beach, enjoying a picnic or even kayaking out to crab boxes in the evening. Beautiful park overall. Make sure you're sure-footed if you're going to climb the rocks.

The beach park section of Larrabee park is gorgeous. There's ample parking, then a decent that's…read moreabout a 45 second walk to a grassy lawn and a beautiful stage built in the early 1900s. There were people performing music on the stage and park goers enjoying on the grass. Just to the left of the stage there's a path to the beach. Another 2-3 minute descent brings you to a trail going left and right. The path to the left is a short trail to a rock you can sit on and climb down to get to the water. Further that way there's another beach. The path to the right leads to a nice beach with a great view and a shade tree. There were some bugs in the washed up kelp, but nothing too bothersome imho. We had a stand up paddleboard so we used the path on the right after the stage area. I would recommend anyone bringing gear down (scuba, kayaks, paddleboards) to use this beach. Larger crafts can use the boat ramp just north of this beach, and you can drive right up to that ramp (north of the stage and parking area). It was a beautiful park and a great place to picnic, enjoy the water, and view the sunset!
