Terrible experience. The food court is empty ... I mean empty ... one fast food stand was open. I couldn't log in to public wifi, needed an account, when I tried to sign up on my phone, I was getting no bars on my 5G phone, so I couldn't sign up with the code that they were supposed to email to me. The place looks as if it's 95% unoccupied. Unless you're going to Costco or the movies, or 24 hour fitness, don't bother. Yes, Macy's is there, but I never shop at Macy's. read more

Quite honestly I don't know how this mall is still running I've seen a massive decline recently. They do implement cool new things like the theater, 24 hour fitness, and johns incredible pizza but that isn't necessarily bettering the mall itself. A bunch of the stores in here are always dead and even closing, every time I come here it seems like another store closed down. And it's pretty deserted inside as well. The food court always seems empty and sad as well. Only reason I come here is for the hidden gems like Rasputin's which has an awesome vinyl selection and a new favorite which is box lunch which has a wide selection of random items while also donating to charity. Some other gems include the 24 hour which is pretty solid as well. Bath and body works is also good and sees is a yummy stop. I wouldn't necessarily recommend coming here to shop around but instead have a game plan of a store you want to visit and go there and leave. read more

I had some lower expectations about this mall, especially when I saw Burlington Coat Factory. I've been to a number of malls with BCF and they've all been on the decline. The parking garage is hella well lit. You could probably get a sun tan at night. Naturally, I parked in-between, so we had to go one flight of stairs up or down to get to the mall. Seeing the Korean restaurant at the entrance made me feel as though people cared about being there. The mall is obviously in transition. There were some empty spaces and they need to add flooring of some sort. I've been to some malls, which seem more empty than full, and Arden Fair up in Sacramento had bumps along the floor of the mall where you could trip, while they were replacing flooring. The mall has a good assortment of stores, including Macy's, J C Penney, and Sears as anchor stores. Pretty much everything was covered and we spent some time in Vans and Zumiez in particular. This mall has gone significantly downhill in the past several years, and especially in the last 1.5 after COVID. What can I say?! I still stop by if I'm in Fremont, aka the 510 or whatever. But yeah, honestly-- I would go to a different mall. It's old, lacks any real anchor stores (except Macy's), and many stores closed during the pandemic. It still has a few decent ones (H&M and Express), but really there's not much here. A few years ago, they tried to make it "better" by adding & renovating a new wing -- there is now a Jack's Restaurant & Bar (which is probably the only place I like here). And a wine bar. Unfortunately, during the pandemic, many stores closed-- including Starbucks, Victoria's Secret, etc. So now, I just stay away. It makes me sad to come here. My advice is-- make the drive to Pacific Commons in Fremont (about 5 miles away) or the Great Mall in Milpitas (approximately 10 miles south). read more

The anchor stores like Sears and Macys are struggling and other retailers like Amazon, Target, and Wal-Mart have stepped in to fulfill our shopping needs. There are few desirable things about this mall: + Decent parking (no one is here!) + AMC theater (big cushy seats!) + There's an H&M at least? As for the less desirable things: - So many empty stores. There's not much left here. This place feels like a ghost-town. - Getting here from 880 (making the left turn into the mall off Mowry) can be dicey. Lots and lots of traffic. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AT CHARLOTTE RUSSE. The African American lady manager along with the American lady where talking smack about me to my face. The policy on the receipt says exchange or store credit I wanted to exchange my boots but they said policy changed today to final sale on boots! They should honor it because they didn't update the receipt or on the website. They began to tell me to shut up and listen and threw the receipt and shoes at me! It was a reunion among 3 high school friends, so we had much to talk about. 6 hours wasn't enough to catch up on 50+ years. Newpark Mall is now downsized, quiet and miserable. There is only one entrance, at Macy's. Anchor tenants JC Penney, Sears and Burlington etc. are nowhere to be found. If you shop there just to avoid large crowds due to covid, note that about one-third of the shoppers (who are neither eating nor drinking) do not wear masks even though the mandate has been reinstated in Alameda County on June 3. There are still H&M, Hollister, and Aeropostale. The 3 stars are given for the more than enough parking, which is an important considerable to some. read more

I don't understand why they don't simply close this and other dying malls. At least 1/3 of the stores are vacant. Empty malls are crime magnets. They get two stars, because there were a few shops that are still open. And there were customers in the mall that seemed to be enjoying this somewhat desolate place. read more

Not the best, but not the worst. Newpark Mall has been stepping up their game recently with all these renovations. Supposedly, the mall got bought out by an individual who is envisioning a "Westfield Mall" image. Not sure if that is all gossip, but I'm not mad about it! This mall has the basic/major stores such as Macy's, Bath & Body Works, Disney Store, Foot Locker, Forever 21, H&M, JCPenney and Victoria's Secret/Pink. However, product wise, I feel like they lack. A lot. It just seems like I can never find anything worth buying. They also have many "no name" stores that carry some gems from time to time, but again, very difficult to find something worthy of purchasing. Food court is a bit sad... I don't recommend eating here unless you are starving. They do have a Jamba Juice and a Starbucks though! All in all, this isn't my favorite mall, but location is convenient and whenever I am in the mood to walk around and window shop, I'll come here. read more

Lately, every time I go to this mall I feel kind of crappy bc there are no good stores here except H&M and the nail place. It seems to be getting worse even though I want to have some belief that they'll revamp this place like they say they will, but not much has been done about it, and I've kind of given up tbh. I think most people have, too. I sometimes browse Charlotte Russe, BoxLunch, Hot Topic and Miniso but there needs to be more variety and age appropriate stores. I'm in my 30s and I feel like some of the stores here aren't that age appropriate for me , so I feel out of place. I miss Victoria's Secret that used to be here. Also adding a Sephora, Uniqlo, Zara etc would be cool or a discount store like 5 Below. Also, I never seem to get signal anymore unless I'm connected to Wi-Fi. I leave feeling super frustrated. I think this mall isn't that enjoyable anymore. I don't really go to Macy's bc this one seems disorganized and isn't as nice as other Macy's like in Stoneridge, but the Macy's is still here so that's good I guess? There are a few places to eat here but again, we need more variety, especially food inside the mall food court. There are barely any options to eat inside the mall but there are a few restaurants outside which are pretty solid. I feel like sometimes the stuff you find here can be outdated, aren't really age appropriate, or stuff you might already have so today I didn't buy anything. It's super disappointing. We need a little bit nicer stores with nice quality offerings as well to attract people to come here. The movie theater, Costco, and the gym just doesn't feel like enough. read more

Currently disappointed by how little or how many stores this Mall has now. I get it it's being remodeled, but it's been a while, and it's been an extended construction. Anyways came here on Sunday, and we hadn't been here for a time, so we were pretty excited to walk around the mall. But the walk was cut short as there were not many stores open. This mall has definitely gone through its ups and downs but with this new renovation I'm hoping it will just go up from here! It now has an H&M, the best movie theater in the area (I refuse to go to any other one) and it looks like it's opening a 24 hour fitness, Pizza Restaurant, Jack's restaurant and many more! I can see why physical malls are in decline: I found out Miniso's return policy for purchased item un-opened is only 7 days at this store in Newpark Mall! I actually visited to store and tried to return, un-opened, and within 2 days, but only found out they was NOT open and nowhere I can find their store open hours posted in the Newpark Mall. It's a hassle. Online store are open 24/7 and their services and return process are quite good. read more

This mall have everything, AMC theater, Macy, Nordstrom, restaurants, and lots of branding shop here. I find it's pretty easy to shop here especially can shopping and watching. The parking lots always available here and plenty. And they have farmer market on every Sunday morning. read more

I visited Newpark on Monday, April 22, 2018. The mall seemed very dead, with the ongoing store closures. JCPenney looked like a ghost town, during its final sales, before their shutdown. Rasputin Records is gone. Sees Candy disappeared. In a bad sign, Burlington continues to shrink their merchandise floorspace footprint. Several small retailers have also folded. I would not be surprised if Macy's leaves in the near future. The Newpark parking lot is slated to become home to 1500 apartments. read more

I grew up in Newark, and this is where the cool kids used to hang out after school and where all the girls took studio photos at Photo Magic and hand them out to their friends. That was a while ago, before the mall fell into a period of decline (R.I.P. Red Robin) and Target moved out to Pacific Commons. About two years back, a photo of a remodeled Newpark Mall with tall glass windows and steel beam construction began making rounds on social media with my high school crowd...and today, that construction has become a reality. I'm impressed! They've begun to transition the mall to a higher end sort of spot like Valley Fair or Southland, adding stores like H&M, pieology, and Aniki's sushi, put in more high end style seating and landscaping, but it still feels a bit Frankenstenian, if you will, with older, 1980s style mall construction next to modern, high ceilings at the newly constructed AMC theater where Target used to be. That being said, it's still not a spot you would categorize as a mall with a lot of stores you want to go to. I do like the whimsical addition of the motorized animals for children (and some adults!) to zoom around the mall in though. Fingers crossed for Newpark Mall to make a comeback! read more

Not what it used to be. Way back when, there used to be many stores of quality. Just recently, Target, Pacsun, Daiso and a couple of other stores have closed their doors permanently. Forever 21 got rid of their men's section. Nowadays I just come for Macy's, Express and Cotton On. There's still quite a few decent stores like Disney Store, Sears and JCPenny. I'd rather make the drive out to Great Mall and shop there unless I was looking for something in particular. read more

I actually really like this mall as it caters to a lot of my "geeky" needs. Toys, video games, and movies. It also has a Macy's and pretty much anything else I truly need when it comes to my shopping needs. Its a perfect for ME if that makes any sense. They no longer have a Target and I guess there will be a movie theater here soon, so that's always a bonus. Seems like a like of the "hip" people look down on this place, but I love it. Come on, guys, this place really isn't that bad. It's good for what it is, and although it can't compare to Valley Fair/Great Mall/Stoneridge, it's great for the basics, and if you need to pick up something really quick. Parking isn't ever hard to find either, which is always a major plus. It's also clean and barely ever crowded (at least not for the last two times I went, but that might have been because all the kids are in school; I speak for the weekdays). My favorites in this mall include: Victoria's Secret (especially when they send me that coupon in the mail for free underwear; hell yes) GameStop Target Daiso Orange Julius (the banana split is rather awesome) There are plenty of other places to browse, but I'm not exactly a mall-y type of person. read more

It's quite tragic how much this place has changed over the years. I remember frequenting this mall during my junior high and high school days with friends because it used to be lively and actually had well-known shops like Pac Sun, Target, Sweet Factory, etc. Now, it mostly houses stores that I've never heard of (in a bad way). The mix of stores here is so random that I'm not sure what kind of shoppers they're trying to attract. It has a cheap clothing store, a dollar store, and a cigar store, all within proximity of a Coach purse store. So confusing. From the looks of this mall, I don't think it will survive another 2-3 years unless they completely renovate the entire place. It seems like nowadays, people who live in the area will go the extra distance to shop at Great Mall and Valley Fair rather than Newpark Mall. I'd recommend doing the same. read more

Newark is not a city that stands out as you drive along 880 but this mall is undergoing a make-over for the better and will make Newark a more likely spot to stop by for your various entertainment needs. The mall has new stores and restaurants coming in and is now anchored w/ a new AMC IMAX. In this case, a make-over is a good thing. read more

I havent been here in years till i accompanied my gf yesterday to return a few things here. Looks just like how i remember yet more depressing. Since Target closed it just has a different feeling there. Lots of random strip mall type stores and alot of the anchor stores are gone. Gap is almost all closed up. Kids Gap is completely closed. On the plus side..if you dont like crowds and hate looking for parking, this is the mall for you! Theres hardly anyone here so parking is plentiful. I probably wont be back unless they do something drastic to revitalize the area and ailing mall. 2 stars read more

Wow every time I come here it seems as though this place is running itself into the ground! Sadly this is not at all what it used to be. For one thing, basically every store besides Macys, Sears, Disney Store, Champs, & Starbucks has changed to something else haha! So many of the other stores have closed, even Red Robin! Noooo! No more bottomless fries and poppy seed honey mustard. It's so sad to see how this place has gone downhill. It's not even "ghetto" like Southland, it just looks and feels old and can't seem to keep new stores in which should bring in the young crowd. I think it's about time that they renovate the entire place! It's super eerie walking to the farther ends of the mall (Burlington side and top floor near Sears) because everything is either closed, or no one dares walk down this quiet hallway of doomed stores haha! I'm glad they're adding a new AMC theater in place of target, but tbh they'll have some tough competition considering Century theaters is not far away on either side of Mowry. Probably one of the smaller malls I have been to since coming to the bay area...but I am glad to see that they are expanding! Parking is spacious here, so park anywhere you like! Food court here is pretty diverse, and lots of snack stations too! I felt like this mall is more for families with kids/teenagers instead of those in their 20s or 30s. But if you need something last minute, I'm sure this place will suffice! read more

Even on a popular day there aren't too many people in it and none of the stores here really interest me too much. I find that to be a good mall you have to entertain while you shop. Even if this place had great stores and great selection (i.e. mix of upscale and normal and department stores), you'd also have to have people and the modernism it requires to keep the people around. This mall is okay but not my first choice in shopping. There isn't a lot here and the food court isn't very good. They have the basic stores if you need to pick up something quick like Forever 21 or H&M but, its mostly a bunch of no named stores. Newpark Mall was probably the first mal I went to when I came to the US. Before I discovered the wonders of Valley Fair and Stoneridge, it was this mall, Southland, and Bay Fair Malls that I would troll around in. I didn't know any better =P Well let's just say, it's not GREAT, but it does fulfill one's shopping needs. Trust me, I don't like malls and shopping for a purpose, but if I wanted something close and with some kind of store selection, then this place trumps Southland and Bay Fair. Went here last week and found it a little sad. It's definitely gotten run down over the years. I remember its hay day when I would do Black Fridays here. I'm a little saddened that Old Navy is now a furniture store and The Limited is no longer there. I remember we would go to Suncoast to buy VHS tapes. Wow...how time flies. read more

It has been a while since I've been to this mall. When I was young, I would always go to this mall to shop. It had every popular store that you could think of, but nowadays all the stores are gone. The only popular stores they "still' have is Forever 21, American Eagles, Express, Hollister, Disney Store, etc. Thank god they still have Charlotte Russe!! I love that store, happy that it still exist since most mall don't have it anymore. A bonus star for this mall! I really hope they renovate this mall, and add more stores to it because I don't want this mall to go. But coming here the other day, I see that they are planning to add more stores/restaurants which I am excited. I hope this mall will be popular again, so I can go to this mall more often since it's closer to my house than Great Mall. This mall isn't bad, I still enjoy coming to this mall compared to Valley Fair, since everything is cheaper and affordable. I get to buy more stuff with my money!! read more

This mall is dead and it's weird how an exit away you have the new shopping plazas w/ Kohl's, Claim Jumper, Costco, Lowe's, PF Chang's, Panera, etc., etc., and etc.! I haven't been spending much time w/ my Mom so after I returned home yesterday she asked me to lunch and then a stroll around Newpark Mall. I didn't care for the mall but I figured- sure, why not.. maybe the mall has improved. We came around 1pm.. parking was PLENTIFUL (a sure sign it's dead). Macy's was filled w/ shoppers shopping for their Father's Day gift(s) and I did browse around the Junior's department but didn't see anything to my liking. I went upstairs to the children's department so I can grab some undergarment for my Daughter and went about my business in the mall. The food court isn't bad.. there's an Orange Julius! And of course the usual selections. I didn't make a stop at any of the eateries because I just had lunch in Milpitas. Shoes- Nu Pair, Shiek, Bakers.. I didn't notice the sports stores for sneakers. Clothing- Victoria's Secret, Express, Forever 21, Wet Seal, Charlotte Russe.. a few others. Kids- Osh Kosh and a few others.. I'm sure you can tell by my review that I didn't care to notice much in detail. There's a Target which is a plus because I stopped to get more razors for my Venus razor and sunscreen. Pros: clean Cons: not a lot of relevant stores, no activities or entertainment for families, bad reception NewPark Mall is a prime example of the mall industry. There's a good chunk of the mall that sits empty, and a lot of the stores aren't really appealing or relevant to even browse through. The mall does seem to be brining in more food establishments, but it can't be a giant food court (can it?) I enjoy 2-3 stores in there, but those are the only reasons why I'll stop in. I hope it gets better, or else I'm afraid the mall won't keep up with the times and fade into history. read more

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE NEW MERVYN'S.The new store is part from Newpark Mall now on Mowry. It is much larger, newer building that stands out, and only one story. The layout is basically rectangualr with aisles. It will take time for me to get used to where everything is. The employees- the majority looked to be high school kids with summer jobs. Its much bigger and better than old one. More space to roam. The only issue I had was with the awkward parking. Some spaces are tight and I guess it will take time to get used too, it might not be the final parking design since they are beginning to build BJs Bar and Grill on the next pad. read more
