However, I recently learned that the church holds non-affirming views regarding LGBTQ+ identities and relationships. This was not made clear on the website or in any public-facing materials, which made the discovery especially painful. I witnessed others be hurt by what feels like a bait-and-switch, entering a space that seems welcoming only to later find out they are not fully accepted. Transparency matters and clarity is kindness. While churches are entitled to their theological positions, I believe it is important, out of respect for those seeking a safe and welcoming spiritual home, to clearly communicate those beliefs upfront. That way, people can make informed decisions about whether this is a place where they will be fully accepted and supported. This experience has been disappointing but a great learning opportunity. I can see its earnest desire to do their best and lead the church with integrity through a challenging year. I've been inspired and impressed with their courage to tackle difficult subjects and to be honest when the answers are hard to come by. It's clear that they have a clear calling from God to his people and to the Eastside in particular. I would encourage anyone looking for a fresh expression of growing in their faith to explore Kalos online and/or in person as they begin meeting in person starting in January 2021.

Love the worship, vibrancy, and energy of the church. The leadership is modern so it won't feel like a multigenerational church, but they have an anointing and covering in the teaching that is convicting and powerful. Convicting and powerful are the two best words I can use to describe my experience here. I emailed the church to ask about it and was ignored. I am being vague but not going to slander anyone online. It is sad to see what is happening in the churches today.

We came here as a family on Christmas Eve for the candlelight service. They offered five services…read morethroughout the day, and we decided to go to the 1pm one. The whole church was beautifully decorated for the season. There were two official photo stations for families, but honestly, you could take a picture anywhere and still get great Christmas vibes. There was a huge Christmas tree in the center of the lobby and giant nutcracker statues by the entrance--super festive. They also had several drink stations with coffee, tea, hot cocoa, apple cider, plus cookies for everyone to enjoy. The service itself was wonderful. The message really focused on the heart of Christmas and our Savior, Jesus. At the end, we lit our candles and worshipped together with classic Christmas songs, remembering God's love and grace. Our whole family loved it and had such a meaningful time worshipping together.

You get solid Bible Based messages each week that instruct, exhort and challenge you to Love God and Love Others. Their "celebrity" pastor Judah Smith and Pastor Jude Fouquier. Left me with lasting damage causing me to almost take my life. The only "sin" I had committed was finally being honest about being gay. I think it's time churches like this are held accountable for giving advice to teens without any semblance of a counseling degree, all while making 100,000's of dollars if not more off the people who attend.

AWARD FOR MOST PENITENT 3 1/2 stars would be more accurate…read more I attended Rain City Church while it was still meeting at Odle Middle School a few years back. I received a flyer in the mail promoting a series of upcoming sermons promoting a theme of reconciliation, in which this church apologized for historical sins commonly committed by Christians in general against non-Christians (and even other Christians), not necessarily just by members of this congregation. I thought this was a breath of fresh air! Included among the topics were it's apologies for homophobia, sexism, racism, bible-thumping, "our church is the one true church", etc.. THE NICE THINGS The pastor's sermons were very lively and uplifting! They were also full of humor(probably an understatement!), which I like. Also, the people there were friendly and the family-friendly atmosphere was very informal, which I also like. And if I remember right, they even had a special play area for kids. They also had yummy snacks to eat after church was over, which I also liked! BUT THE MUSIC WAS TOO LOUD They played "Christian rock music", which is OK with me, but it was WAY TOO LOUD! I told members, including the pastor, about that, but they just did not understand that the number of decibels they crank up their music is enough to damage people's hearing over time. Needless to say, almost all of the adults were in their 20s or 30s. I pray they lower the volume at least for their kids sake. THE OVERLOOKED "800 POUND GORILLA" Regarding the reconciliation theme of their sermons,they missed the "800 pound gorilla in the room", namely the teaching of eternal hell, which was historically used to frighten people into becoming Christians. Although none of the sermons I attended tried to scare people with the threat of hell, they did have at least one free book out on their literature table promoting that teaching. It is not an exaggeration to say that this doctrine of "eternal hell" can and does traumatize people for life. People have been known to be committed to psychiatric institutions because of it! I told the pastor about this. Although he was genial about it, apparently this policy will not change either. IN CONCLUSION Nevertheless, I must give this congregation serious kudos for apologizing for many of the historical sins of Christianity(though unfortunately, hell was not one of them) in a way that I have never witnessed any other congregation (or denomination) do, which was very open and forthright! If it were not for the excessively loud music and the "800 pound gorilla", I might well have continued to attend this church. In any case, those were the only two things that prevented me from giving them a five star rating.

Seriously, great place, good kids program, lots for them to do regardless of age. Multiple services, casual, and you can pick the service that fits your needs as well as time. Great programs and classes for adults. Watch for special events for junior high and high school - great trips for the kids to take, whether up to the snow, or elsewhere, even supporting a basketball league. Not a huge mega-church, but big enough to have 3 services and be interesting for everyone.

Okay, it breaks my heart to finally need to write this. My wife and I attended Blue Sky for almost…read more16 years, I was baptized there, I served there, heck I even helped do facility maintenance for free since I had the skill and tools. The people here are great people don't get me wrong. I previously had this as a 5-star review. Over the course of the years Blue Sky has sent church plant after church plant, I'm not opposed to it and know it can help spread the gospel. My issue though comes from how fast they were to do this. With every church plant sent, the church [Blue Sky] sent some its strongest leaders as well as small group leaders. Back in 2012 it would be common to see small groups growing so much that you would generally have between 3-5 small group multiplications (making two groups from one large group) a month. Over the past 6 years Blue Sky has sent 6 church plants around the country, with one being in Taiwan and one most recently in Reading, England. These 6 multiplications have stripped Blue Sky of the strong leadership faster than they could grow. Now it is common to see between 2-4 small group multiplications a year. The small group leaders aren't strong enough yet, they were forced into these roles early on as the network leader, Steve Morgan became overly obsessed with church planting. Steve cares more for sending more church plants than he does making sure his congregation in each church has time to rebuild and grow. I have been on the verge of leaving for the last 2-3 years just due to a stalemate in growth, heck even small group discussions didn't seem fun, if anything they were more a waste of my time and money, yes money as I have a child I had to put in their child care and pay $15 a week for. I never understood once Blue Sky paid off their building entirely why they cannot help support families and pay for the childcare or at least help assist. The reason we left: Back in October 2021 during one of the team meetings (one Sunday a month that people who serve/volunteer in the church can meet), a small blurb was mentioned about not believing what is being said online. My wife and I had no idea what he, Krsh, lead pastor now at Blue Sky, was referring to. A week later my wife found this website "LeavingTheNetwork" which talked a lot about problems within the network. When I started reading through many of these I will admit I blew them off as just attacks upon the church from people who don't like the way the network is run since no pastor there has gone through seminary nor even counseling to help lead the church. These guys are raised up from the church itself, generally young 20s fresh out of college waiting to start their career until God calls them (typically Steve and pastors would pick these people and tell them) to lead, then they give up their career and work for the church. After Christmas 2021 more stories started coming out on the website, but this time from people who I knew and looked highly upon as they were once leaders of some sort or another in the church and now exposing it. I vaguely remember my old small group leader telling me not to read any of the website and not to believe it (this was at Christmas). Two months later, in February my wife and I finally decided to pull the plug from Blue Sky and the network. We invited our old small group leaders over for dinner (the ones who told us not to read or listen to the website) to break the news to them, but they beat us to the punch and informed us that they were leaving due to the network issues, we were totally blown away and lead to a great conversation. Fast forward a few months until now, I've stayed quiet on this as I didn't really want to go out and inform everyone as the information is out there, but after the latest news last Friday, made from one of the past overseers who had to hold onto this knowledge for years. Steve Morgan, the main leader of the entire church network, back in 1986 while he was a Youth Leader for a Mormon church, at 22 years old committed "forced sodomy" with a 15 year old boy. The LeavingTheNetwork website has come across the scanned files from the court and it reads the committed act is 'forced sodomy on a minor'. I read the entire court document, to me it is very disturbing. Steve kept this a secret with only a few leaders in the church until 2019 when he told all leaders what had happened. Now I am not sure what he "told" them but what I can say is that last Sunday at Blue Sky (I heard from others who still go there) that during the morning announcements they said that there has been sexual misconduct that has come up in regards to the main leader, Steve Morgan, and that more will be addressed at the Team meeting later that night. He also mentioned that this Team meeting is open to all. I got word that on Sunday night, Krsh had addressed this as Steve had consensual sexual activity with a boy in their late teens. Krsh lied, I cannot stay silent any longer!
