Superior *****. The most hostility I have ever experiences from one end to the other.. and in between. Except PF Staff On Site, they have been consistently great with very few exceptions ! But their Regional Manager insanely rude beyond able to explain.. like a little brat who knows he can get away with it. Otherwise Dollar Store Staff fine but other places unexplainable hostility & insane behavior no business would normally allow the employment of such a staff infection ! So many good opportunities spoiled. Ever since new management took over Cancun Restaurant it's beyond bad when before you could see people in there from all places around the world enjoying everything and now a non-Hispanic can be horribly mistreated ! I got a Chimichanga and they gave me toasted tortilla wrapped around loosely some ingredients when I asked if it was deep fried they just told me it was like I am supposed to take it. I miss the old Manager who through kindness had everyone's respect ! Now just another egocentric place taken over where the prisoners have taken over and exercise Warden's authority of the Prison they imagine we are stuck with them. People shop here more out of necessity than desire. This place is a hodge podge of discount retailers, utility companies, cosmetic stores, etc. While I really like Fitworks (fitness center) and sometimes go to Village Discounters, I could easily by-pass every other store. My worst experience at Newport Shopping Center was dining at the uber-nasty Hong Kong Grande Buffet. The cuisine was so off-putting I didn't even go back for seconds. So this place is SUCH a hodgepodge of stores. Each standing alone they are okay, but everything together it is so odd. Now there is another buffet being put in there, because they need two? There is that bowling alley where on the website they tell you to call up about open bowl because they don't really know if they will have space (legit). DOTS closed (heart is broken) . It's all just so so so odd and random. Hallmark, who shops at Hallmark still? I can see how years ago it was thriving, but now it's dying. Beef O'Brady's though...that's my jam. I love me some double bubble. 2 for 1 drinks all day everyday! So I mean, technically if you wanted to drop off your laundry to be done at the laundromat, go to town on the super hong kong buffet, get a few double bubbles, get a new cell phone from cricket, pick out a gift for some one at hallmark, get some shopping done at the family dollar, and then go bowling (that is if you call ahead and plan) you can have an awesome night. Karina is very accurate when she calls this complex a hodge podge of businesses! And what a strung out place it is...it seems it's at least a couple of blocks long. And yes, I went there today out of necessity...to get some watch batteries replaced at Monmouth Jewelers. The experience was good. While I was there, I walked through a couple of other stores and was impressed with the Hallmark store, not at all impressed with Dots. Previously I've visited the Fifth Third branch located in the center and also been inside Fitworks. The remainder of the businesses will probably remain unknown to me. read more

The only reason I shop here is because it's close to my house. Every store I visit I get uneasy because it feels like I'm being followed or one of the workers are staring me down. I went to Dots with my friend Shannon after leaving Cosmo prof carrying a bag with about $60 worth of merchandise and my purse. As soon as we entered the store, the lady behind the desk looked at us, but quickly turned her head and didn't even greet us or anything. We wandered around for not even 5 minutes and were looking at some clothes on the wall by the dressing rooms, when the same lady who snubbed us earlier comes up and "politely" asks if she can hold my things. I just stared at her with a look of confusion and shock on my face as she took my bag and my purse and gave my a clothes pin in return. A clothes pin?! Really? I turned my head to look at Shannon, who was carrying just as much stuff as I was, and neither of us could figure out why my stuff was taken, when there were quite a few other customers in the store with large purses too. If we had been acting suspicious, I could've understood that, but we'd just walked into the store practically! I walked over to the counter to grab my stuff, and it wasn't even behind the counter. It was off to the side with a clothes pin on it.. I had over $300 in my purse along with digital cameras, my cell phone etc... not to mention the stuff I'd just bought from Cosmo Prof. So, to make a long story short Dots employees really aren't that friendly, the clothes suck, and the only stores, in my opinion, worth checking out at the Newport Shopping Center are Hancock Fabrics, The Thrift store, and Cosmo Prof. read more

You can (kind of) find everything you need here, but as another reviewer mentions, the new Newport Pavilion kind of makes this glorified "strip mall" obsolete. The laundromat is one of the best around, especially if you live around Newport or Covington. The Ace Hardware is pretty standard and has everything. My son's mom and I like Cancun Restaurant a lot. The Great Clips is okay. I was upsold on thirty dollars worth of hair care items due to pressure sales, and went and returned them later. I find shopping at the Family Dollar to be depressing. Some of the surrounding stores and restaurants are notable, but I haven't been to all of them. Among these are Penn Station, Larosa's, and Fresh Thyme Farmer's Market. This is poorly planned mixed commercial property. Most of the square footage is dominated by an empty-ish parking lot. I've never been one to rent-to-own, but they have one of those stores there. It's a bus stop on my local bus route (instead of Newport Pavilion) so I'm trying to find positive things about this "shopping center". read more

I think Newport Shopping Center needs to be tear down and rebuilt to be compatible with the new Newport Pavilion nearby. Maybe Olive Garden would be nice touch that it has a huge parking lot while Newport Pavilion lack the parking spaces. read more
