There is absolutely nothing urgent about this place. The unprofessional staff sat and complained about their own families and described disgusting medical issues of their own family. After waiting for over an hour, they said they didn't know that my paperwork was completed. I tried to set an appointment over the phone and the person who answered didn't seem to know anything. I had a terrible experience at this office. The staff member I encountered was extremely unprofessional. She told me I could go somewhere else and refused to put the person she was talking to on hold, even though I was standing right there. While checking me in, she said she couldn't take care of me and told me to stop. When I explained that I had a plane to catch, she was very rude and said I couldn't be seen unless I paid an outstanding balance, which I knew nothing about. She admitted she didn't know the details but still insisted. She then slammed my debit card and receipt on the counter and curtly told me to sign. Her behavior showed a complete lack of professionalism and understanding of HIPAA laws. She took a phone call, didn't know the answer, and instead of putting the caller on hold, she covered the mouthpiece and started asking other employees how to handle the situation. Why is someone with such a lack of knowledge and respect working in a medical office? I was there before another patient, yet she told me I couldn't stand at the counter due to HIPAA laws, but it was okay for me to stand there to fill out forms. - read more

This place is a circus they are only sort of nice to patients that look like them. if you look different they will only care about the insurance and daily copays they received The staff physicians are rude unprofessional misdiagnoses patients and unethical . I've been going here for many years and have always had the best of care. I've had 3 medical emergencies over the years and each one was handled professionally and accurately. I am "medically resistant" yet they've kept me alive and healthy. Dr. Velarde is the best ever! She's the only doctor I trust fully. The only problem with the practice is that you cannot make an appointment. Of course that means you can also just go in but you may have to wait. Someone who came in after you may cut in front of you. That's right if someone comes in with their head cut off they are going to glue it (or staple it or whatever they do these days) on before they look at your stubbed toe. read more

I went here for a pre-op clearance as I am new to the area and have no PCP. The front desk staff was excellent as was the admitting nurse. I had no wait time. The doctor seemed unfamiliar with the form to be filled out and needed to ask the front desk staff. Weird, eh? He did however have a great sense of humor, completed his 'exam' and I was out of there in under an hr. read more

The older Caucasian doctor, with wild Donald Trump hair( McKerry maybe), doesn't listen to anything that you say, and continuously interrupts you when you try to tell him what a specialist has told you. Really rude and tries to talk down to you, even when you seemingly understand what is going on better than himself. Apparently, he thinks he's a GI doctor. Total jackass. I would say come here if you're dying, but even then there are much better people to handle your Healthcare. Except for the doctors, the front desk clerks or LPNs are rude, unwelcoming and very unprofessional, always present themselves as having the worst day at work and display very poor customers service. I hate the fact that every time I go to these Newton Medical PC, the people at the reception are always a disappointment as if customers/patients are enemies. read more

I have been a patient at Newton Medical for over 20 years now. In that time, I have had one bad experience with a " fill in" doctor. Other than that, I am very pleased with their service. I started with Dr. Potluri. He was a quiet man and would listen to your problem. He would ask for a moment. Step out. Then come back with some opinions of what should be done, while examining here and there, in regards to your problem. He has now retired. I was given a new person who was a PA. I am old school and with all do respect, said I wanted a doctor to treat me or I would look elsewhere. Within 5 minutes a doctor came in, who was a female. Stumbling on that old school attitude, I started to object. Then caught my self and thought. give her a chance. I am very glad I did. Dr. Velarde was, during my first encounter, a little flighty. But that woman is a great doctor. No games. You will be told what, why and where you will be going or taking for your problem, in order to solve it. And she can be very friendly while doing her job. Not snooty or insulting your opinion of your ailment. I am now in recovery and reconstruction from throat cancer and have been speaking to her support staff via a text to speech machine, and have had no problems. So let the doctor take care of your problem. Or stay home. look in a mirror and let that fool tell you what is wrong. read more

Went with my mom here for an infection on her finger. Front desk lady (terribly fried blonde hair lady) was SO RUDE. Not only to my mom but to other patients, ESPECIALLY the non-American patients. But, they took a culture and gave antibiotics. Said they'd call Tuesday at the latest with results (this was Saturday) and 11 days later they call to her she had staph. To which she has already gotten really sick from a reaction to the meds and to the infection. Thankfully when she started getting really sick she went back to the doctors. They're useless. I would never recommend anyone to go there. read more

1 Star only because I can't give 0 stars. I felt I was beeing ignored by my doctor and he didn't care about what I had to say. Bad place.

This place is a disaster. I saw Dr. Potluri to diagnose a particular type of infection. He took a culture but was skeptical about my reported symptoms. I had to keep insisting that I knew how I felt. Then he never got back to me about my test results. I assumed all was well until I created an account with the lab's patient portal several weeks later and discovered that I was infected exactly as I had suspected. I went to my primary care physician for another culture, and it turned out that I was still infected 10 weeks later. He immediately put me on antibiotics. When I complained to Newton Medical, a nasty office manager justified not informing me about my infection because it was not severe enough. I have since learned that the bacterium is stubborn and hard to eradicate. Newton Medical is ill-informed and perfectly happy to keep you in the dark about your medical condition. Stay away if you value your health and want to be respected as a patient. read more
