I am a long time (25 year?) customer of Newton's Florist and they've been wonderful to me helping my mom get her Mother's Day and birthday flowers each year. They even called me up one time when I was a little late on making the order, just to make sure everything was alright.
I just talked to them, because I'd seen a bad review, and talked to Dale, the owner. It turns out that Dale, not very computer-savvy, has had a Pokemon Go PokeStop put on top of his deer statue, and it has caused him some problems. It turns out that many people coming to collect the Pokemon come into the driveway and block his business, often 3-5 cars at a time at peak. Dale expresses that he tries to treat everyone with respect, but has been surprised himself by the explosive and aggressive reactions people have had to being asked to leave because they were trespassing. I am not privy to all the details, but it escalated to Pokemon players staging a protest in his parking lot and writing bad reviews online (yelling at him that they would be doing so to ruin his business). The police were called and came on the scene. (The police were already concerned with people being in the lot after hours, because down the street there are locations where drug deals have been known to occur.)
I helped out Dale, by sending him a link to the "how to have a PokeStop removed from your property" page on the Pokemon Go site. I hope that gets all of his troubles resolved. Dale is frustrated, but he and his staff have been nothing but helpful and respectful to me. read more
