Then I physically took my dog in after rearranging my schedule, they couldn't get a urine sample or any labs from my 7 pound dog - sent me home - no help. They DID send me home with a cup to get a urine sample. I got the urine sample late at night & refrigerated it. I was never given any guidelines on how to get the sample or what is "fresh." Rearrange meetings again to take the urine sample to them, and receptionist looks at my with disgust and tells me it's "too old." Told me I need to get a fresher one - but again, not told what is "fresh." Are we asking within the hour?! Told both days that they suspect dog has a UTI, but refuse to give anything until they get the urine sample - while at the same time being too incompetent to return voicemails or get a urine sample themselves. Unfortunately it seems this is the only option on this side of town, but I hope this message gets to someone in charge who controls the business and it's employee attitudes. Not how anyone wants to be treated when spending $750+ for their pet.

They are not at all prompt to acknowledge customers at the counter. I've had two appointments with two different doctors- neither of whom have introduced themselves- I still don't know their names. Today's vet tech also did not introduce herself. At neither appointment has any employee talked to my cat. I find that unusual in a vet's office. The doctor today spent our appointment edging toward the door and avoiding eye-contact. It felt like I had to pull information out of her rather than having a dialog. She didn't check my cat over or touch her until I asked about something specific. While I don't fault the treatment, I do find the staff strangely impersonal. The cats who wander around are great though- I love them.

Unfortunately, the gecko began to get very lethargic, to which we were told that she was going into "hibernating mode." A couple of days ago, she started having seizures and we scheduled her an urgent appointment at a legitimate exotic animal vet. My daughter's sweet little gecko didn't make it to her appointment for tomorrow. She died today. I'm appalled that Stephens City Animal Hospital advertises itself as a provider of exotic animal services.

They also have made one house call. The care is top notch. The entire staff is knowledgeable and caring. They care for our cat as if she were one of their own. They have plenty of pet meds, foods, etc. One thing we really like is they always give a follow-up phone call the day after to make sure our cat is doing good. It was all we could talk about was how well he was doing. He looks like a completely different dog. At that point we opted to stop all pharmaceuticals (Apoquel, ProHeart 12) especially after learning they can cause seizures. Going forward we will get titers testing done before doing any further vaccinations. We looked around Boise for a holistic vet practiced in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) so we could holistically heal Hanno and thought we'd found one. The results were less than impressive and we are still waiting to hear back from them a week later! I remembered that Rebecca L G Verna is a Holistic Vet and I contacted her. This morning, she spent an hour and fifteen minutes on the facetime call with my wife and me. She asked a TON of questions and even looked at Hanno over the video. Her knowledge is impressive and I felt like she was really invested in his well-being. She gave Hanno more attention on the facetime call than the local "TCVM" vet did in person. Not an exaggeration at all. Going forward, our go to vet is Dr. Becky Verna at Paws for Holistic Pet Care and we will use the local vet to run the labs and do the 'hands on' things we cannot do over the phone.
