If you want quick service from the cafe - don't bother. Only about 10 people in the cafe (plus 4-5…read morestaff), ordered 2 drinks and 2 cheese toasties (apparently only hot food available at 12:45), collected drinks then awaited food. After waiting about 15 minutes, went to counter - they apologised and said would be with us soon. But after further 15 minutes still no toasties so chased again. At this time offered free drink/reimbursement for delays and told food would be ready within 5 minutes. But after 40 minutes waiting still no food for us but another customer who came in about 15 minutes after us (nd also ordered a cheese toastie) given to next door table, so went to counter to query ours ... told they couldn't find us (by now only 7 customers in cafe and no one came out to ask if we were waiting order). Wanted to complain, but no manager available (apparently all in a meeting), eventually got someone to talk to us and got given phone number as we were running late and couldn't wait any longer for food or manager to discuss issue. Phoned number provided and told they could only pass the complaint to the store and should expect a callback with 24 hours. After 48 hours we still await phone call.

It has been allowed to fall into serious disrepair. Chichester itself was both a Roman and an Anglo Saxon settlement and from then to now remains a compact and pretty market town. M&S like many other centre stores have front facades that are in keeping with its historic buildings and for that the city and the locals benefit. I'm an M&S fan. I have been for a lifetime. I trust them and have for a lifetime. We picked up some snacks for later with some of their excellent rosè wine: honey roasted cashew nuts, as they are so bloody lovely, crisp coated barbecue peanuts and delightful Spanish chorizo 'crisps'. We would normally go for the after 3pm deal of coffee and cake but we had cream teas at 2pm in one of the city's quirky independents so not M&S on this rare occasion.

Wouldn't recommend this shop at all now sadly, spent years shopping here but today my disabled wife…read morein a wheelchair and son went in to just browse while waiting for the bus. Now he wasn't behaving and kept misbehaving fair enough, my wife tried to get him to tidy up but he is on the spectrum and this is something we are working on (baring in mind he is also only 3 years old!). She also has PTSD, severe anxiety and depression, so today was actually a trial for her to prove to herself she can go out and about with our son alone. Our son kicked an inflatable to which he was told off by my wife and she apologised to the woman. Who she had already spotted giving her evils from the cashier. Said woman walked over and spoke to our 3 year old son "your mummy shouldn't have bought you in here if she didn't have cash and was just going to watch you play!" And then walked back to the cashier. My wife tried to get our son to hurry up and get out and while doing so she crashed into a load of baskets in the doorway, said woman looked and walked away leaving her to sort the baskets herself. If the worker had of spoken to my wife directly instead of our 3 year old son, it would have been a different story instead of this discrimination and unpleasant behaviour. Really disappointed as all of this was not needed at all! People should stop and think before being so rude and belittling someone.

Can get quite busy in store so not too good if you have a big pram.
