    Athanase kawou tuwa, PA was extremely rude to me during my visit. He even had the nerve to laugh at my conditions, i offered to give my reference from my primary and dentist, he said they didnt matter. I would never go to another primacare ever again.

    The correct diagnosis after superior care from DO Hicks at Advance ER

    I came in on 2/21 with a severely inflamed throat and ear after weeks of the same and a antibiotic tx from two weeks before. I saw the PA Athanase Tuwa. I told him I wanted a strep throat and mono test and he refused saying I had laryngitis and gave me a steroid. Here I am nearly 3 weeks later with same symptoms but now on the other side. The pain was so bad that I went to Advance ER on Inwood tonight and the difference was night and day. Guess what, I have strep! And now my insurance will have an ER bill. At lease the DO and staff agreed it seemed like recurring strep and were willing to rest when I asked. Swab confirmed it. I am up in the middle of the night while my husband is home with our kid while I get prescriptions filled that if given weeks ago could have me healthy today. Strep is bacterial so I have been infecting people too! Go anywhere else.

My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Facility, Return) Atmosphere - I was immediately greeted upon walking in and directed to sit in a very nice waiting area. While this is a full emergency room, I felt like I was in a nicely decorated doctor's office. It made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. 1 Star. Service - The staff went above and beyond. I explained my situation, provided my ID and info, and the helped me throughout the process including assisting with paperwork. Each of the nurses on staff were also helpful, treated me with respect, and the whole time I felt very at ease. 1 Star. Facility - This is the most impressive part of Advance ER. It's like a hospital floor, with a nursing station and examination rooms. Also, they can do everything on site, like imaging, blood and urine work, and more. This makes it very convenient because I didn't have to go to different offices. Everything I needed was done at Advance ER. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes (actually No, because it means something happened to me ). But Yes I would recommend Advance ER to anyone who wants a one stop shop to get a checkup/imaging/prescriptions, etc. all in one place. 1 Star.

I filled out the paperwork and was told I'd be charged $500. I explained that I have 2 medical insurance coverages and included that info in the paperwork. She said, "we only file on your primary coverage ". I asked why they include a blank to add a secondary coverage if they won't file it. She said, "oh, I guess we do file it." The wait was about 2 hours and the doctor and medical assistant were nice. They are the only reason I gave 2 stars. Fast forward 2 months and my credit card is charged on Christmas Day. I was getting ready to cancel my credit card when I saw what I assumed to be a fraudulent charge. Called CareNow customer service and spoke with a kind representative. I explained the issue and she said, " okay this is going to be a lengthy explanation." Seemed to me this is something she has to explain frequently. Turns out, they keep your credit card on file for one year after your appointment and can charge up to $180 without your explicit consent because somewhere in the paperwork you complete when you are sick or injured and in need of urgent care, you sign a form that grants them ongoing access to your credit card. She told me I should have received an email notifying me of the charge. I searched all my email mailboxes and the only email from CareNow was reminding me that they are available during holiday emergencies. The representative offered to remove my credit card so they cannot do this again. I asked for her to do that and she said that they will now be required to send me a statement in the mail, if there is any additional balance due. Pretty skeezy practice that I bet few people are aware of!

This one is my favorite, so tell me this Karen's and Ken's of Yelp: you walk in, you fill out this 2 page sheet with your information, they get a copy of your ID, your insurance, they contact your insurance, wait to get called on. What people don't realize is that there's 10 people in the same room as them THAT HAD TO FILL OUT THE SAME FORM AS THEM & one person doing the job. Front desk, you guys kill it - "Doctor said this, Doctor said that".... No. Doctor most likely provided enough information with the information he was provided. Ask questions. She put a tunicate on my arm, then put the needle straight into my arm, and the the bevel of the needle was side ways meaning she injected tuberculin into the side of my arm, no wheel appeared. I told her that she was doing the test incorrectly and she said her teacher trained her to do it this way!
