Made an appointment online. My appointment was at 11am. I didn't get go back until around 11:35. I had a splinter in my foot and also had sinus symptoms which I wanted to check on. The lady in the front rudely told me I only can be seen for 1 thing. When I got back in the room the walls were extremely dirty. It also looks like water is leaking in. The hospital bed in which I was told to lay on was coming apart if I leaned the wrong way I could have fell off. The doctor that I need was nice. But overall they need work. read more

DO NOT GO HERE FOR PEDIATRIC CARE!!! We took our 4 year old because we suspected she had a UTI and we didn't want to wait another 36 hours to take her to her pediatrician (since its the weekend). Besides the fact that it took an hour and a half to actually see the PA (it was 8am on Sunday and there was only 1 other patient in the office during our time there), he proceeded to prescribe her an adult dosage of antibiotics!!! So then my husband went to another location and what do you know... they do accept the insurance my husband had. My husband even told them that he had been there before with the same insurance. I was discriminated against on the basis of my sexuality by Dr. Danh Duong. The doctor came in and saw me for less than 5 minutes, asked me which gender I have sex with and then assumed that my condition was an extreme case of an std and that he could not do anything about it to treat it. He then told me to go to the ER. He also did not hesitate to wish me good luck on the way out after being completely unhelpful and wasting my time and money. Once I got to the ER, we discovered my condition in fact was NOT an STD or STI at all. I had a bladder infection and a hemorrhoid. If I could give zero stars I would. I came in on 2/21 with a severely inflamed throat and ear after weeks of the same and a antibiotic tx from two weeks before. I saw the PA Athanase Tuwa. I told him I wanted a strep throat and mono test and he refused saying I had laryngitis and gave me a steroid. Here I am nearly 3 weeks later with same symptoms but now on the other side. The pain was so bad that I went to Advance ER on Inwood tonight and the difference was night and day. Guess what, I have strep! And now my insurance will have an ER bill. At lease the DO and staff agreed it seemed like recurring strep and were willing to rest when I asked. Swab confirmed it. I am up in the middle of the night while my husband is home with our kid while I get prescriptions filled that if given weeks ago could have me healthy today. Strep is bacterial so I have been infecting people too! Go anywhere else. read more

The receptionist asked me if I had a negative covid test. I said no, she then told me the doctor would not see me without a negative covid test. They didn't have any covid test to test me. The front staff and medical assistant who brought me back to a room were wonderful. However, the PA I saw, Athanase Kawou Tuwa, was far from it. He has no bedside manner and was very rude and belittling. He came into the room for maybe 1 minute in and out without time for me to talk. When he came back I asked for a COVID swab due to my symptoms. He stormed off and when he came back he told me I was wasting his time. I am an ER nurse and have seen lots of rude doctor's, but he was exceptionally callous. I left in tears feeling belittled and worse off than when I came in. I wish I would have gone somewhere else to begin with, which is unfortunate due to the fact that's it's a great convenient location and the other staff is so welcoming. This particular PrimaCare was not the best. The young lady at the desk was the saving grace as she was so nice and caring. The ride doctor on the other hand Dr. Kawou Tuwa was so quick to get us out (saw him for less than 5 minutes) that he MIS diagnoses my swollen, fevered, extremely painful elbow as tendinitis and gave me an anti inflammatory. I asked if it could be Cellulitis as that is what my friend said who is a doctor which prompted me to get seen at this unfortunate facility. I went to Baylor Scott and White and after a lengthy interview they immediately told me is was Cellulitis and proceeded to do exrays and treat for the correct medical issue. Yesterday's experience with a Dr Tula was not good His examination was not thorough I went in w a very sore throat. He ran a step test ( my request) It was negative and he recommended OTC cold meds He did not check for sinus infection or flu. Today I called to let him know I'd developed a painful sinus infection overnight. It took 10 hours+ to hear back. He had a staffer call to tell me his initial diagnosis was still good. What started as two girls in need of care turned into a fiasco. Rude check in process. Unprofessional doctor. Asked to leave the room cause the room size. Then told doesn't matter if I am the father we need you to wait outside. Came here to get my daughter's fixed not yelled at by staff for being a family. And then told to leave the room just cause my family has more members then they liked. This office is pretty great. The staff is super friendly. The lobby and exam rooms are always clean and neat. They have a wonderful play area for kids and a Keurig coffee maker for adults. There is always a current family friendly movie playing. The call ahead service is very convenient. They call you when they are ready for you to come in instead of waiting around in a waiting full of sick people. Walk ins are always welcome. After being called, I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be checked in and seen. The reason I absolutely love this office is because of Dr. Mario Currubo. He is a doctor like no other I've ever been too. Not only is he very thorough, he actually really listens and has a genuine concern for each and every patient. Every time I've seen Dr. Carrubo he has personally called me 1-2 days later to check on me to see how me or my kids are doing. That's pretty rare. I've referred him to many friends and family and they all have had wonderful things to say about him. My mother was very sick one visit. After seeing her, he advised he was going to be out of the office for a couple of days and gave her HIS CELL PHONE NUMBER to call him in case she got worse or had any questions or concerns. He really helped her and put her at ease. Don't let the fact that he works at a "doc-in-the-box" scare you off. I pay the extra few dollars to go to this facility, as it is considered urgent care, because of the quality of service and the genuine care we receive from Dr. Carrubo and staff. read more

The absolute worst physician and establishment I have ever come across, aside from the woman at the front desk who was very nice. Let me start by explaining that I am an advanced practice registered nurse who administers anesthesia for surgery. That by no means makes me an expert in family practice medicine but I at least have an understanding. The problems I encountered were as follows: The nurse/medicial technician did not 1) ask about my health history. Not one question. The closest he got was "what medications are you on". This is significant because a person's health history can be a significant source of information and often times explains what is going on currently. 2) does not know how to use the forehead-scanning/temporal thermometer. The technician/nurse literally scanned a 2 inch portion of the middle of my forehead. To get remotely accurate results you need to scan across the forehead, to your temples, and then finish at a point behind the earlobe on your neck. That sounds trivial problem, but due to this, my temperature appeared normal...which it was not.. .my temperature was taken with two different sources both before and after the visit and both showed a temp that was 3 degrees higher than the technicians. 2) The woman physician, I will add her name when I can find it, again treated the event as if she had 10 minutes max then out of the door. I told her I would like to "start from the beginning to explain my present illness" she said no and that she got all the information she needed from the technician. Strange because I didn't give them hardly any information aside from basic symptoms I was having. She came in with a preconceived diagnosis as opposed to listening to anything I had to say. So of course, after the rapid flu and strep test came back negative, and my cbc was ok, she was at a loss. That is ok. I didn't expect her to have all of the answers especially if its a random virus. But her solution? A lidocaine mouth rinse (which sore throat was the most minor of my problems, and I stressed that) and an antibiotic. She prescribed an antiobiotic to a person she knew didn't have a bacterial infection (based on my symptoms and a normal wbc on my cbc). That is a HUGE problem. This is not taking care of a patient...this is not advocating for a patient...this is sending generic medication to the pharmacy that will cause more harm than good in my case. It's lazy. People outside of the medical profession may not have that understanding and may think what she did is appropriate. It's not. To top it off, as I was leaving she said "well the good news is the flu test came back negative". How is that a good thing? Had I at least known it was a severe case of the flu, I would know what I'm dealing with. How is going 7 days with a 10/10 migraine, a 102 temperature, no appetite, dehydration, fatigue, muscle aches, nausea and not having a diagnosis a good thing? If you want to be heard and not treated generically,do not go to this Dr. In a box. read more

Love this place. Electronic Rx is very handy. Dr. Cerubo is the best guy. Can get crowded so call ahead. If you have crappy insurance or none at all, buy the family discount plan on the first visit. Today 6/5/16- When will I learn? Front desk staff was sweet and amazing. Tech-thoughtless I made an appointment 2 days ago for a quick TB test. I arrived at 12:50 for my 1pm appt. It is now 1:31 and I'm still sitting here. The tech went to lunch!!!! Wait! What?!!? You have people in waiting room with appts and you leave for lunch?!?!! I work in healthcare. This is totally unacceptable. It would have taken you 2 min to give me my TB injection. This was last year 2015. Call ahead to avoid wait in lobby does not help. Registered online. Their answering service finally called 25 min later just to say they are sending my info to the clinic and then they will call to make appointment. Waited another 15 min and no call from local Primacare so I just went in. Just needed a TB test for work. Waited an hour. Front desk girl and guy doing TB test said no wait when I return to get it checked. I would bypass wait. LIES! Have sat here 30 min already just so he can take 2 seconds to look at my arm. This is 4 years in a row I have used them for this test. This is slowest EVER! Last time. I'll find somewhere else for this yearly test. read more

The wait is extremely long but is nothing communicated when you come in. They will start by telling you it's an hour wait, then turns to two hour wait, and then a three hour wait. The receptionist is not organized which does not help the process at all. Waiting area is full of sick patients coughing and sneezing. If you're not sick when you get here as long as you have to wait in the waiting area with the groups of sick people, you will be when you leave. Will not come back. read more

Pretty much an antibiotic mill. Went in with horrible throat/sinus infection with sinus swelling so bad I have had tooth pain from it that ibuprofen won't touch and is interfering with sleep. I was 2 weeks in to being sick, so clearly I can tough out some serious discomfort. They gave me antibiotics and an antihistamine (not sure why the antihistamine, as I told the doc I take one daily), even when it's pretty clear I needed 2 or 3 days' worth of pain meds. I understand that people abuse those, but docs have access to rx records. Had the doc checked, she would have seen that the last time I had pain meds was in 2013 when I had an emergency appendectomy, and nothing about me fits the rx abuser profile. Palliative care is a thing, and there are appropriate times for pain management. This was one of them. read more

After waiting almost an hour past my appointment time, Dr. Duong did not give me the time of day. I had questions regarding my diagnosis, and he just kept repeating that I had the flu and needed to go home and drink fluids. He did not care to hear me out. I had the flu 2 weeks prior and now developed a secondary infection which typically requires antibiotics to clear. However, I'm not mad about the lack of a prescription. I'm incredibly discouraged and frankly outraged that a provider of any kind would spend less than 1 minute with a patient, examine only ears and throat, and start to walk out of the room as I am still asking a few, simple questions. This urgent care was not busy at the time, and I think a bare minimum would be to care enough to answer your patient's questions. I work in healthcare and am a future provider. I can assure you, I hope a patient never leaves me feeling like I left this urgent care. 5 minutes of this doctor's time and genuine care is all that I ask. Unfortunately, my experience could not be further from what I would consider to be decent healthcare. I would steer very clear from this establishment. I feel for anyone who comes here seeking any real medical advice. It's so disheartening to see a provider with such little compassion. read more

I've been here twice in the past week. My first visit was fine - temperature checked, some bloodwork, and I was given an antibiotic and cough medication for my upper respiratory infection. Today I went back because my fever has not changed and I finished my antibiotics. I was refused another and told I was getting better because they didn't record a fever for me at the time of the visit, despite having run a constant low grade fever the night before. I was just told to continue taking medication to lower my fever (that hasn't worked so far) and that there's still antibiotic in my system. I definitely got the impression that the doctor during my second visit didn't care, and felt like my problems were being entirely blown off. At least there's very little wait time. read more

I came to PrimaCare due to my now "EX" testing positive for Gonorrhea. Of course, i wanted and needed to get tested for everything! So I found PrimaCare online (google) and was one of the very first choices and had great reviews. I went in on Sunday around noon and waited, not even 10 mins. They receptionist greeted me with a smile, was very professional and super sweet. Unfortunately, I didn't catch her name, but I wish I had so that I can give her proper recognition for making me feel very comfortable in a not-so-comfortable situation. She did have blond hair :) They accepted my insurance and I only had to pay my emergency room copay of $55 (Compared to other STD testing sites, this was such a big savings by at least $80). This place gets many KUDOS for being opened on SUNDAY, since I work in professional, high demand industry. No other place was opened, unless I wanted to pay $135-$250, which I did NOT. The nurse and Dr. Kusi-Mensah were super quick, professional, welcoming and treated me with much respect and care. They had me in and out in 30 mins. I received a call back for results on Tuesday, which was so fast! I came and picked up Wednesday and was greeted by a different receptionist, Amy. Super super sweet and had the biggest smile. Showed my ID to pick up my results, which were all NEGATIVE and they did tell me over the phone that they were Negative, so I did no stressing on my way to get them . I just wanted my own copy to mail to my EX, along with a few other things he left . OVERALL: Great place! Friendly Staff! Professional! Convenient! I would give 10 stars if possible. I sought medical care here on the 27th of July, 2020 because I was unable to put weight or walk on my left foot. I literally got out of bed that morning and fell to the floor. At this appointment the doctor dismissed my foot pain and told me to wear insoles, and that nothing appeared to be broken on the X-Ray. I know that this doctor did not take my pain seriously. Fast forward to now, and I have finally been diagnosed with a stress fracture in that same foot, in the same spot where this doctor told me that nothing was wrong and all I needed was arch support in my shoes. I know that not all stress fractures are easy to see on X-ray, but I feel that if my pain were taken seriously he would have considered a stress fracture as a possible culprit. Due to the gap in care and how much worse it has gotten, my road to recovery is so much longer, painful and expensive than it needed to be. Because of this I will be wearing a boot at my college graduation. I will never be visiting a Primacare again. read more

I called ahead to see if they were open, and if they took my insurance. they said yes to both. Made a appointment for the next morning. This was a nightmare from the start. After I gave the clerk my cards and she spent at least 10 mins on them (had been to a Prima care in the past) she printed off the paper work for me to sign. Good thing I read it! Wrong person, wrong insurance. Then she said that they did not take my insurance and I would have to pay full price if I stayed. Needed care so I agreed. Now I am the ONLY person there, and 45 mins later still waiting to see someone! Finally, a nurse takes me back and askes the usually questions and then says the doc will be in soon. Waited another 10 mins.So, the only patient and it is 50 mins before I see the "doctor". I am being generous when I say that he spend maybe 3 mins with me. I went in because of a nasty spider bite.Athanase Kawou Tuwa said he didn't know about spider bites, but wrote out a script. Found out later (after taking the medicine which did not help) that it should not be given to people with certain medical conditions, one of which I told him about. Checking out was another issue. They did take my ins but under out of network, but they still billed me for more than the out of network charge!. Stay away from this place! I have nothing good to say about it! I was billed for the office visit, x-ray and splint ($153.00 splint) and then was recommend by the doctor see an Orthopedist for further evaluation. When I took the x-ray to the Orthopedist the next day I was told the x-ray was very bad and that they had to take another one to for clarity. At the Orthopedist I paid for an office visit, xray and cast. I feel like the visit to PrimaCare was only a waist of time and money because I paid $300.00 to get a diagnosis of "no obvious fracture; however there is high suspicion for scaphoid fracture". I was better off just seeing a specialist. I do not recommend X-rays at PrimaCare, I recommend a specialist for anything related to fractures, sprains or any sports injuries. read more

I took my child here for a school physical and it was the WORST experience we have ever had a doctor's office. The front desk girl was very friendly, but the two assistants in the back were very clueless. They didn't even know how to properly take blood pressure. After SEVEN attempts to take blood pressure we were placed in a room to see the doctor. The doctor came in and took my son's blood pressure with a tiny cuff that barely stayed closed on the SAME arm that was used 7 times prior. All that to me his pressure was elevated.
